  My oldest pen pal

The scent of fresh ink having been spread with a thin brush fills the content of this peculiar letter. A wax seal with the emblem of the Irradiated shrine keeps the letter sealed shut.
It is sent traveling through the Lifestream alongside a copy of an old book on the Illuminated faith, bookmarked on a page detailing notable Agarthan members throughout the ages.

[Friday 7 PM] - Battle for Silverwall Mines
Posted by: Ocean Side - 03-28-2021, 03:40 PM - Forum: Pre-Meranthe - Replies (1)

Not long after the tournament's conclusion, the Archmagi wastes no time in announcing his next course of action, to finally bring his city back on the offensive and reclaim that which they've lost. With the beastkin of the Moxtli, and the Drakanites of the Fireblooded, the combined forces lead by the Osronan leader mount their attack. Their intention? To claim Silverwall.

Quote:
"The Machine has held on to one of Esshar's largest resource banks for too many years now. This place served as the catalyst to the loss of good people. A battle waged years ago where children of the new era, blossoming with potential were forced to give up their lives in a display by two men's overindulgence in their own pride and zeal. No longer. This time, when we fight, we will do so as one. A battle where we will take back a most vital point in our lands for all."

"We will march."

-- Rhesus DeLaurentis, Archmagi of Osrona.

( This will be a raid in order to capture and secure the Silverwall mines, held on the 2nd of April at 7 PM EST. )

'You did, Kieran?'
'Well, no, but I'm sure we can find one without too much trouble, right? Besides! There's no way we've given up paying those idiots back, right?'
'Idiots?'
'No one, Isidore.'
'. . . Oh.'
'So, we're going to get us a ship.'
Angry cat hissing and punching of solid things. They all turn and stare and unanimously open their mouths.
'Shut up, Varen.'

  Legacy of Two Families
Posted by: Milly - 03-28-2021, 05:16 AM - Forum: Pre-Meranthe - No Replies

The Father:
Fennel Loire

Explosion - Fire - Magma
Your father is built upon both principle and temperance. A Pelleaux by blood, he is a diluted sort with wicked behavior
to most. You have been raised to believe that your potential is greater than most, despite his short comings.
He is, at the end of it, simply a man.

The Mother:
Violet Vartuul
[Image: 1f143d9c52daacab8388de1144df4b5c.png]

Magma - Occult - Armed
Your mother can be seen as cold and unemotional, lest that emotion is anger. Her attitude is curt usually
at all times, and she doesn't take well to those she deems as outsiders or non-Fireblooded.
The typical exception is Rosemarin and Ethric.
She is a Dragonlord.
Sometimes her mental state can clearly be seen lacking due to the occult.
But it's okay! Really. Or so she says.

The Deets:
- We'll have one Vartuul and one Loire (since that was their agreement ICly)
- The Vartuul will be a Drakanite (though magic is up to you), and the Loire will be a human (same thing)
- Obviously if you want to follow in our footsteps you may
- You were raised with a heavy emphasis on the Fireblooded religion given Violet's position
- You are able to attend the Academy if you desire, given both of your parents attendance there when they were children
- You have two grandmothers still around! They're both... Really crazy, though.

The oldest will be turning 13 in 1837AC, and if the second oldest wishes to make a year after that's fine!

You can apply here!

You will be notified via Discord.

  Underground Tag Team Tournament
Posted by: Chasing Daybreak - 03-28-2021, 04:44 AM - Forum: Pre-Meranthe - No Replies

The news of an underground tag team tournament spreads throughout Esshar, hosted in the smoke filled den of the Docro mansion's bar. A private affair where it's mandatory to wear a mask and compete under an alias, given the illicit nature of the competition. Fighters are likely to be recognized despite this, but the members of The Family and their guards will be instructed to maintain the peace outside of the organized conflict (where blood will be encouraged in excess). All throughout the event, sylavanum and alcohol will be available and supplied freely to those who might indulge on the spot.

A word from our sponsors...

"Yeah, that's right. Anyone other than the Osronans can join. Moxtli, Shadowmire, even the Fireblooded? Come right in. Enjoy the hospitality of your enemies, and be beaten down by the superior fighting force: That's us! As a one time exception, we're going to outlaw killing and taking captives for the night, but we're not to be held responsible for any lost limbs or wounded pride."

Details (OOC)
- Wednesday, 6PM EST. Sign ups will be posted earlier in the day!
- We'll be making pairs on the spot and mixing it up based on IC / RPL / affiliation! You'll be able to write down your preferences in advance and that will be taken into consideration.
- Deadly is permitted if both teams agree. Cap 1+ is permitted if both teams agree.  Dangerous is permitted if one of the team wants to.
- If you have any mask sprites you're fine with people using please DM them to Chance!!!!

Brimstone Honeywart [SHIELD]
"Imported from the snow-capped ruins of the once drakanite city of Frostvale within the country of Valmasia, this sulfur-scented flower bears a crimson coloration that can easily draw the eye of any enthusiast. Rare in growth, such a blossom only blooms in the spring whence the snow within its habitat has long melted. The flower itself has a plethora of uses. If its petals are pressed, such can be a useful material in the creation of fire-attuned armor and weaponry. Along with such, the nectar it produces is a powerful healing agent that can close and heal even the harshest of scars."

Transcendent Prism [SHIELD]
"Said to have been imported from the country of Elsyrea, this odd prism bears an otherworldly presence and duty upon it. Light that reflects from its glass sides shimmers a beauteous rainbow. However, upon the hands of a competent channeler, one may use the very being of this prism to reflect a mirage of the Lifestream itself. Its shimmer provides one sight further into the very flow of the world, making for a useful tool to attune to the very lifeblood of Eternia."

Known as a nethradin-forged material, this onyx version of steel is hand crafted by the hands of the very souls that were damned and destined for Hel, their essence coalesced to form the very core of the iron used to create this item. Often brought along by nethradin when they emerge through rifts from Hel, it is often a piece these creatures use to do exchanges and dealings with. If one were to hold it close to one’s ear, they may hear the faint whispers of the being used in its creation."

  Barsburgian National Service
Posted by: Theori - 03-27-2021, 12:23 PM - Forum: Pre-Meranthe - No Replies

National Service and You!

What is National Service?
National Service is your way of manifesting your patriotism by serving in the Imperial Army or Navy! A mandatory condition of Barsburgian Citizenship, National Service is a period in which you serve in the armed force of your choice, seeing the world, making friends for life, and gaining valuable new skills in a variety of fields. The armed forces aren’t just fighting soldiers! Your experience in other fields is taken into account when you join up; find yourself potentially assigned to the Imperial Army Engineers, Logistics Department, or Medical Corps! National Service also offers valuable experience towards future employment should you leave the army after your tour, and ample opportunities for advancement if you stay! Enlist today!

How long is National Service?
National Service is a period of five years within the armed forces or registered Conditional Exemption career. A citizen may begin their service at the minimum age of Sixteen, and must enlist or secure a Conditional Exemption by one month after their Twentieth birthday in order to meet the conditions of their citizenship. Following the end of the five year period, an individual may end their tour or extend it as they prefer! Individuals acquiring Citizenship outside of birth are expected to begin their National Service by the first month of their twentieth birthday or within three years of gaining citizenship, whichever comes first. Children younger than sixteen are naturally excluded from this condition, and may begin their National Service at the normal time.

What is a ‘Conditional Exemption’?
A Conditional Exemption is a certified alternative to serving in the Armed Forces as part of National Service. One may enter any one guild designated as an acceptable alternative by the State in lieu of serving in the Armed Forces as part of National Service, instead remaining in the employ of said guild for the National Service period. A Writ of Conditional Exemption must be approved two months prior to an individual’s twentieth birthday to be considered valid. Some acceptable alternatives include: the Technomancers, the Imperial Intelligence Bureau, the Imperial Compliance Department, Aertas Industries, and Larry Duarte’s Imperial Catering.

  Nobility in Barsburg
Posted by: Theori - 03-27-2021, 11:38 AM - Forum: Pre-Meranthe - No Replies

Nobility in Barsburg

How is it granted and what does it give?
Nobility in Barsburg is granted under a handful of conditions. In most cases, Barsburgian nobility is not hereditary; the ‘pyr’ particle is commonly granted posthumously to an individual for exceptional service to the Empire, which grants the honored’s immediate family -wife/husband and children- access to the deceased’s pension for the rest of their lives. Occasionally it is granted to those still living for great contributions to the Empire’s security or progression; in this regard, it is more common than not for the ‘pyr’ particle to go to revolutionary inventors or high ranking military members. Additionally, descendants of a Basileus or Imperator are granted the ‘pyr’ particle for two generations of the ruler’s lineage. Only a ‘pyr’ may sit upon the Imperial Council without being a Provincial governor.

However, occasionally someone does something so spectacular that their whole family is made nobility. This most recently occurred when Imperator Walter pyr Docro secured the city of Osrona for Barsburg by handing it over voluntarily. For this service, the Docro family were made nobility in perpetuity, an honour shared by only a handful of others, including the Aertas and Volkova families. Perpetual nobility is reviewed every hundred and fifty years by the Imperial Compliance department; noble families who are not living up to the expected standards may lose the particle for subsequent generations, although this has occurred only once in Imperial history. Acts of treason, naturally, come with the immediate loss of noble status.

Why ‘pyr’?
The particle for Barsburgian nobility is a reminder of the first Barsburgian noble. General Pyr Dobrev was an extremely capable warrior and strategist, who single handedly led the Empire to victory in the latter five of the Seven Wars during the era of the same name. Following the victory in the seventh war, which ensured Aen hostility would not resume for decades, the very elderly Basileus offered Dobrev a position as his designated successor, a position that the council of the Empire was extremely likely to honour. Instead, Dobrev politely refused, saying that his service in the Imperial Army was honour enough. The Basileus disagreed, naming Dobrev ‘a shining example of the nobility all citizens of the Empire should aspire to’. He was guaranteed a seat on the Imperial Council, and following his death the name ‘Pyr’ was officially decreed as the ‘name of nobility’, thus becoming the used particle.
