Most item apps are handled fairly quickly from what I can see. Might've fell through the crags since your character died, yeah, or fell into 'the holidays' abyss for voting. Will take a look.
EDIT: Processed several pending item apps in general.
Edit 2 (an hour later): All pending item apps have been procesed. I got carried away.

It'll always feel that way, everyone's time zones, votes, and eventually you'll be in stasis for a bit, the change to a week of wait time is healthier mentally for both sides.
Its a time consuming process overall, ic time invested, then app wait time, it makes some people very reluctant to even do anything until their app is reviewed. It's part of the game, with time the process will continue to get smoother overtime, as we get more appmins i believe we'll hit a nice timeframe that becomes the norm as we wait for 2.0 to drop.
Just want to say thanks to the appmins for cutting out the time to do their part, and a friendly reminder of "patience" to the other players waiting on a reply, it'll come.
