A frozen encounter with Mahotaur - frozen mahotaur - 08-24-2022 Greetings friends.
I come mostly from other RP games, and this is my second wipe joining the Eternia community. I've always enjoyed the thought to host events and create interesting challenges/stories. So today, I'll be humoring these thoughts with an attempt to become one of your loved DM's.Should you decide to choose me as your Dungeon Master, be mindful that I'm new and that I will be doing everything in my power to entertain you with the time I got. We all touch grass from time to time after all. Here's the classic format. Event: Responsiveness (Were their narrations posted within a reasonable time-frame and were they quick to respond?): Balance (How entertaining were the battles, and any obstacles/traps?): Storytelling (Did it feel like an adventure, did the content of the narrations meet your expectations?): Fairness (Were the punishments justified and earned, was the risk to reward ratio good?) Event Highlight: Overall: Any other comments: My prefences usually lean towards dark and edgy thematics, but I can be open minded. I am not sensitive so feel free to tell me if an event went well or if it actually sucked. Looking forward to work! Discord: [Daniel]#0379 RE: A frozen encounter with Mahotaur - ~Aoria-sama~ - 08-24-2022 You should add your discord so people can get ahold of you. :) RE: A frozen encounter with Mahotaur - Padlock - 09-03-2022 Event: Precipice Moltenfury Responsiveness (Were their narrations posted within a reasonable time-frame and were they quick to respond?): Yes! Had many pretyped text that meant the event was well planned and for random stupid action that the group took, there was also quick and well written answers. Balance (How entertaining were the battles, and any obstacles/traps?): It seemed balanced and in one of the bosses, the fight happened in a very different arena, a maze-like map that intended to be a spider web which add difficulty but also immersion to the battle overall. Storytelling (Did it feel like an adventure, did the content of the narrations meet your expectations?): Yes! It felt like playing on Firelands back in WoW again. Fairness (Were the punishments justified and earned, was the risk to reward ratio good?): I felt we actually received more rewards than injuries, but most of the risks were depending in being KOed during fights so I guess its fair. Event Highlight: Final boss was actually Ragnaros lol Overall: 5/7 Very fun and enjoyable. Would do it again. RE: A frozen encounter with Mahotaur - Didos - 09-18-2022 Event: Into the Chasm Name: Acantho Responsiveness: The narrations were quick and filled with plenty of content. There was also a lot of time to respond, and the actions conduct by the players were taken into account. Balance: The battles were difficult, but not impossible - while the obstacles? Well, I guess our group wasn't the best at solving riddles. Even so, it was quite creative and you get a extra point for that. Storytelling: What I expected was a cave exploration and so I got it, but we also came across a temple, fun characters ( Yes I'm talking about Ter and Rath ), as well as knowing how an ancient golemcrafter imprisoned an undead entity and his passion for riddles, which made me hate him. Fairness: The injury given was fair, the rewards even more - if we got punished it was because it was deserved. Nothing to complain. Overall: Mahotaur is great DM, one with a great creativity - amazing icons and perfect for narrating. Going into this event was fun and would love to have him as a DM once more! Approved. RE: A frozen encounter with Mahotaur - Ohverride - 01-31-2023 Event: Angelic Secrets - Way of the Sword Responsiveness (Were their narrations posted within a reasonable time-frame and were they quick to respond?): There were times where I was getting minorly impatient, but above all the descriptions were pleasant and well thought out. With the length and thinking required of some of the passages, I felt like they were reasonable. However, I feel like as times the communication that a narrate was coming through would've likely quelled a lot of my impatience. Balance (How entertaining were the battles, and any obstacles/traps?): The fights were cool, a lot of the creatures felt thematic and the leadups were appropriate. Many of the traps or obstacles felt like they required more practical thinking and allowed us to think outside of the box more often. Storytelling (Did it feel like an adventure, did the content of the narrations meet your expectations?): The storytelling was great. I felt like I was walking through the ruins of an old kingdom and none of it really took me out of my immersion. Overall a very captivating tale. Fairness (Were the punishments justified and earned, was the risk to reward ratio good?): I got unlucky. I got permed. But it was a chance of death and I rolled a 1 after going down a round - I was the only one. The rewards were nice, though. No explicit gear, but the ending reward (a corrupt angelic demon slaying sword dev item) was fantastic and a lot of the dev items are either easy to integrate into something or able to be made into something by itself (I KEPT THE SWORD!). I'm going to try and see if it can end up better than my current weapon! Event Highlight: The ending boss was fantastic. A Nethradin in the guise of an angel, wielding an old angelic weapon? It was unbelievably sick. Hindsight was 20/20 when I got tricked by it in the dumbest way, TOTALLY my fault, but the false dreams were cool and he worked well to craft each one despite maybe not knowing each of our backstories. Overall: Extremely fun event, would want to have as DM again. Any other comments: Tell me when you're narratin' BOY. Also fantastic use of props. RE: A frozen encounter with Mahotaur - Powerjake - 02-08-2023 Event: Angelic Secrets - Way of the Sword Responsiveness (Were their narrations posted within a reasonable time-frame and were they quick to respond?): Responsiveness was good if I remember. Event took awhile, but we had a lot of bosses. And a lot of narrarations that weren't just simple RP's. There was a lot of dev, and serious moments. Balance (How entertaining were the battles, and any obstacles/traps?): The fights were very cool, if I remember correctly one of the bosses even used jump to like jump onto us. Very cool fights over all. Storytelling (Did it feel like an adventure, did the content of the narrations meet your expectations?): Stortelling was great. It met my expectations for sure, and at the end. Though we did not see a real angel, the RP was amazing. Fairness (Were the punishments justified and earned, was the risk to reward ratio good?): I got a unique dev item, and no perms. Only 1 of us got permed and it was because they rolled a 1. I think it was good rp and all of it was fair. Event Highlight: Epic ending boss, giant chad nethradin disguised as Angel. Dumb heroic sam thought he was real for a sec, but got tranced. Almost got owned but his epic spirit blade woke him up from the dream and allowed him to fight. Overall: One of the best events I have been on, probably the best. Would like this DM again for sure Any other comments: chad RE: A frozen encounter with Mahotaur - tetsuochii - 05-19-2025 Event: The Saint of Light Responsiveness (Were their narrations posted within a reasonable time-frame and were they quick to respond?): The timing was certainly reasonable, and also always included the details everyone provided. 9/10 Balance (How entertaining were the battles, and any obstacles/traps?): Probably could've been a bit tougher, not that I'm complaining! But overall, very fun. 9/10 Storytelling (Did it feel like an adventure, did the content of the narrations meet your expectations?): The story was incredible, the props and map settings were perfect. The story was fun and well put together, an amusing story. 10/10 Fairness (Were the punishments justified and earned, was the risk to reward ratio good?) Super fair all considered! 10/10 Event Highlight: Bro actually killed my dog.... Overall: 10/10 Any other comments: Super patient, friendly and timely. Daniel is a great DM to work with, seriously appreciated! Highly recommend begging him to run an event for you. RE: A frozen encounter with Mahotaur - BloomeForme - 05-24-2025 Event: The Saint of Light Responsiveness (Were their narrations posted within a reasonable time-frame and were they quick to respond?): Timing was on point and the few times they had to step away wasn't long at all. Every narration included those present and you can tell they actually focused on what everyone did. 10/10 Balance (How entertaining were the battles, and any obstacles/traps?): The fights were manageable enough to feel accomplished, but three out of four people were downed at least one round. It felt appropriate for the listed event risk! The red herrings in the puzzles occasionally threw us for a loop. 10/10 Storytelling (Did it feel like an adventure, did the content of the narrations meet your expectations?): It was an expected beginning and end, though the middle content went in unanticipated ways. As mentioned above, they made sure to include everyone so each party member shined in every narration. 11/10 Fairness (Were the punishments justified and earned, was the risk to reward ratio good?): With how many times Alaric kept charging into danger without thinking, the punishments and risks were very much earned. But the rewards were also great in comparison. 10/10 Event Highlight: The final boss battle and Pepper's heroic save [and the attempt to perm my character...] Overall: 10/10 Any other comments: The sheer amount of work and commitment towards the scenery/ puzzles were next level. This was my first event and Daniel set the bar extremely high. I'll latch onto them for dear life to do other events in the future. RE: A frozen encounter with Mahotaur - FrozenDeadGhost - 01-06-2026 Event: Shadows Upon the Walls Responsiveness (Were their narrations posted within a reasonable time-frame and were they quick to respond?): Very fast responses that were detailed and well written. They always made sure we knew when they were narrating and had great communication. Balance (How entertaining were the battles, and any obstacles/traps?): I'm so sorry we were so tough to deal with >.< however the fights were very fun but I would note I think that spell you used that covered majority of the field in flashing red did not actually tick even when it landed when I was out of immune. There might be a bug going on with that spell? I'm not certain! The puzzles were super fun and I appreciated the effort put into them. Idk if how we solved them was how you meant for them to be solved but it was really cool team work that was required. Storytelling (Did it feel like an adventure, did the content of the narrations meet your expectations?): I think this was incredible writing. It was well planned out, it had multiple fights and levels of difficulty, it had two different puzzles, it had some interesting shadow lore and learned a little bit about a lost shadow religion. I am very content with the narrative we were given. Fairness (Were the punishments justified and earned, was the risk to reward ratio good?): I think perhaps you could have been much harsher on us but I also know balancing is kind of difficult given my rpl & vit. Event Highlight: Overall: Very content and great event! Any other comments: Appreciate you so muuuuuuch! <3 RE: A frozen encounter with Mahotaur - josu - 01-06-2026 Event: Shadows Upon the Walls Responsiveness (Were their narrations posted within a reasonable time-frame and were they quick to respond?): Very quick actually! They were able to respond to our RPs as a collective without long wait-times in between Balance (How entertaining were the battles, and any obstacles/traps?): I would say it was fairly balanced as well, there were times where one or two team members were on the brink of death but otherwise maybe it could've been bumped up a notch. As far as obstacles go I appreciate that they were willing to take on our wacky solutions to the puzzles presented; it truly felt like a D&D moment of 'let's try this and see how it goes' to 'holy crap it worked?!'. Very fun Storytelling (Did it feel like an adventure, did the content of the narrations meet your expectations?): It felt like an adventure where we didn't really know what to expect after each turn, be it a puzzle, trial, trap or a boss fight. The narrations were great too, every group member was included within and no one was really left out Fairness (Were the punishments justified and earned, was the risk to reward ratio good?): I was the add-on to the event, so I'm unsure of the ranking (CoD, HCoD etc) but it felt fair enough to me. We had some pretty good rolls when it came to solving puzzles and trials so that definitely swung things in our favor. All in all I'd do it all again 10/10 |
