DMadsen - Madsen - 09-01-2022 Event Preferences: Small to Medium events for 2-6 people Other Notes: All times work for me. Are you currently running events, and if so, are you considering player requested events?: Yes but no requests. Discord # or best means of contact: Madsen#0001 RE: DMadsen - CrystikRage - 09-01-2022 Event: Forged in Fire Character: Catalyst Review: Would effortlessly 3-0 every EC while my companions job it hard again (I'm kidding it was tense and fun). Lots of fights, due to the IC of the event they all used similar builds. Would've been nice to see some variety in trees, maybe some magma or plasma. Overall, had fun. Good DM. RE: DMadsen - Harm - 12-28-2024 Character: Nix Bargiel!? Event: True Justice O_O Storytelling: I really, really liked this event's theme, not to mention the writing on the narrates! It was not exactly what I expected it to be, but that made it much better. I hope everyone else had fun murdering babies. Not to mention the opportunity we had to develop our characters with some moments, specially... Balance: With some of the fights we had! It was not as stressful for me and I hope everyone else had a good time, and the rewards we received were very good compensation for any danger we faced. Unfortunately only three of us made to the final fight because it got very late (as you can see by the time of posting this), but it actually made the final act of the event so personal and... Enjoyment: Fun! Madsen and Co. really sent us through an enjoyable ride from start to finish. I always had everything fun to write about, and for that reason thank you very much. Ad Astra per Aspera! RE: DMadsen - Milly - 12-28-2024 Character: Thomas Garret Equisol Event: True Justice O_O Storytelling: The storytelling was different than what I expected and that isn't a bad thing, as touched upon up above. It left me interested, and the narrates and even the EC's RPs were lovely to read. It really made you think about things differently, and presented things to our characters that made them think long and hard and dwell very deep beyond just the surface level of thoughts and beliefs. Throwing the curve ball with the first trial left me bewildered, too. Balance: The fights were difficult but also not impossible. The only issue was clearly Aethelwine hated Enarr's influence on Thomas so much she just kept targeting him, over and over and over and over. Not to mention, again, the curve ball of having to fight our biggest failures at the start too. Kind of wild. Enjoyment:
RE: DMadsen - Lostborne - 12-29-2024 Event: The Trial Of True Justice Character: Justia Story: It was very well done, including others from outside was also a really nice touch! Added to the IC nicely and paved a path forward into the leading scenes afterwards. I enjoyed hearing more on the lore and a more in depth view on how the inner workings of Aethelwine and those under her. Learning more about the lore in such a way Balance: The battles field super involved and well put together. Nothing felt like one person was left on the receiving end for too long and movements were properly punished with leeway to minimize how much they may be punished, there was nice mix of pressure without being too oppressive. The finale of the battles couldn't have been more perfect we both knocked each other down with one last rush of light. ![]() Review: Overall well done and an amazing DM! ( Sorry for posting so late! Forums went down and it was late. ) RE: DMadsen - FrozenDeadGhost - 12-29-2025 Event: Back to the Ruins - Summons of the Realms Character: Bansai Talalt Story: Very well done, super fun narrative. It's hard for me not to love seeing your events and the way you described some of the effects of the void were very chilling because they reflected some strange dysphoric or anxiety sensations people can have when things feel like they are falling apart. So beautifuuuuul! <3 Balance: There was some problems balance wise but I am not super upset with it (even though I nearly died). I don't know if it was originally in the plan to let so many people save others from death with -40s but if you had not allowed that it would have felt REALLY BAD to die from those fights. The first fight we did it was rough and very hard but I was accepting of it but in the second round some people experienced the gravity balls of hell which wiped them out (due to a lag spike on the EC's part unfortunately). When we redid there was a lack of communication on that it was a redo only for the single round rather than the entire fight, perhaps it was just phrased poorly but most of the players present did believe it was a redo of the entire fight. There was also 1-2 players who were newer to events of this scale who did not properly understand when the final results were out why 3 rounds were counted (because the first fight started as a 3 rounder not a 5 rounder) and this really upset them until they were explained why it was that way and what had happened. When the changes were made black hole was swapped out but with stardust explosion (which this part didn't affect me) but it seemed to cause lag to be even worse for certain players. More changes were made and Ice age was added also which caused an issue where ice age and bonezone were being stacked while it was also spammed making it impossible to see the bone zone ticks at all. This combination and the spam were totally fine for the difficulty of this fight (though it was SUPER HARD but it was reasonable for the risk of this event and the rewards it offered), however the issue was that the bone zone ticks not being visible did feel like an unfair situation that was due to mechanics rather than actual skill. It would have been better if it had been the blue ice spikes instead layered atop the ice age or even a different terrain limiting effect even. I say all of this as feedback for the balance! I had a super fun time and I almost died and it caused a lot of chaos. I am very grateful for the event you ran for us! <3 EDIT: Oh right, the fights I'm referencing are from the private portion strictly. The public portion fight was great! RE: DMadsen - ASignalInTheNoise - 12-29-2025 Event: Back to the Ruins - Summons of the Realms Character: Amatire Story: It was good to tie this event chain up! We really went from feeling like things were just going to get worse to saying that we're cancelling the apocalypse - that sort of vibe. It was nice to see a big percentage of the playerbase come together for the event as well, which I think says something about the promise of the chain overall. Amatire has some significant connection to the Void because of the initial event that took place but for reasons of simple chaos that didn't get to come to a close - still, there will be something interesting to come out of that. Balance: I can't speak much on the second EC battle as I was not chosen to advance, but the first one was reasonably balanced for how much of an utter clusterfuck it was for the EC, given there were times where I could not even track the EC because of the three thousand lifebombs and spin-throws going on. Overall, I enjoyed the event, though I wish I had gotten to participate further in things for IC reasons. RE: DMadsen - Astronomical - 12-30-2025 Event: Back to the Ruins - Summons of the Realms Character: Nymphaea Aubreen Responsiveness: For the narrations, given the amount of context and people involved? 5/5 for sure! There was a lot to go off of, fluff-wise in the event; the narrations were top tier quality. Storytelling: It genuinely felt like doomsday vibes; the way the void was described felt so esoteric and grotesque. I feel that the way it was able to interact with certain factors for many characters was exceptionally unique and fun to describe in an RP. This was a kick off public event from the ritual that Melos dul Vique and Isadora did - the first EC really set the tone for the entire event, but the second EC really gave off 'end of an era/world' feelings, which was awesome to write in rps, and while we did get to defeat both of them- we were all not without change to our characters. By the end of the event, no one was left without injury. That leads me into.. Balance: While there were some struggles, it's understandable given the sheer amount of people that had attended. Overall, I think the balancing was done nicely following adjustments to the party amounts (the first EC being maybe 30+ characters that attended and the second EC being for 12 characters), as well as the skillset of the IC because of lag issues when it came to things like the Supermassive Blackhole spell and Galaxy Explosion (which actually made a few of us DC as a result). My only real gripe was the fact that some spells were visually stacking, so you couldn't see things like the ice talons below it that were nuking our HPs significantly.... Otherwise, the first EC was a CoI type, but the second EC really made you feel that CoD, and given what happened in the event by the end of it all? Holy shit. Fairness: For what was given, I believe everything was pretty fair! No complaints here. Overall?: I appreciate Madsen a lot for running this event for all of us when I wanted to conclude a storyline that started up for the Heavenfall stuff, and while I am a bit disheartened that those events won't be ran anymore, I still wanted to take initiative with Madsen to help at least come to a resolution with this part of the story for what EC she had in mind since helping to run the initial event ritual weeks ago! Despite what happened IC, the conclusion was pretty damn awesome and worthwhile. Thank you for running this, Madsen <3 I didn't realize how long this was going to take, but you did wonderfully with everything alongside Arrow running the EC! I really appreciate the heck out of you both c: Any other comments?: Unrelated to the DM, I had many complaints when it came to the narrative selection of the 12 members for the second EC, since we had to cut down on the attendees from 30+ to only 12... but I followed through with my IC that was logical to the best of my ability, so I hope people can OOCly understand to this regard- the decision made IC was made due to IC. Otherwise, any comments for the event itself or the DM? None beyond saying that I cannot wait for what comes in the aftermath with Ad Contra Deos' people because we fixed a problem they caused!
RE: DMadsen - akemimera - 04-05-2026 Event: Clash In Helheim Character: Francesca Caldwell Responsiveness: Fast, especially given the narrates and rp double duty. No qualms here. Storytelling: Zero Idea what I was signed up for ICly, but lawdy they really did sell the fact Helheim actually sucks to be stuck in as a mortal being, let alone getting the hot drop into an active war. Those Nethradin in their actual home turf have hands. Balance: Armed and Events is always pain:tm: But the fights even despite that felt fair given the stakes of the event. Fairness: I should have died, (at least from Prior HCOD tables) and yet I didn't. Pretty damn fair given such. Overall?: 9.5/10 Any other comments?: I'll see you for part 2 soon:tm: (this post written by a very tired bird, will update properly after sleep) RE: DMadsen - ElizaX - 04-05-2026 Event: Clash In Helheim Character: Lynette Anwar Responsiveness : 10/10 Very quick, engaged with the party in fun ways OOCly as well during any downtime, a pleasure to write with! I also never felt like I was rushed, everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. Storytelling : 9/10 This was the best part by far, it was awesome to get the sensation that we were going to a distinct portion of Helheim in dire straits, put together as a unit meant to hold an area, getting to fight alongside Aethelwine was a really cool feeling too. I'm unsure if there were two different DMs, but both the PC and the EC characters felt insanely different writing wise, and the big bad EC Nethradin at the end felt like a eldritch entity, I loved it. Balance: 8.5/10 I actually think the fights were very fun and they were definitely challenging. The only complaint I had was something I don't think was intentional entirely and is more of a problem with certain skills and the fact that our RPB area was reduced by two tiles on the top and bottom, AOEs with invisible borders and potentially extended range(EC variants) were casted in positions that I felt like damage was just assured, and I was a zoner character who felt this way. The reason this felt like a problem to me is because the RPB box itself was cut off by two tiles on the top and bottom which made it feel like if the gravity orb was dropped in a centered area that it was essentially unavoidable damage for a party without any form of burst healing. But the battle was what it said on the tin and even if I had a complaint, I think this was probably the hardest I've felt like a fight was while still being fair. No instagibs happened. I just feel bad for our melee friends. Fairness: 9.5 Given what was said above, I think we were potentially let off a little lightly in the injury department, which in turn I think is a little more fair but I was preparing mentally to try to take a death roll for another character, I also absolutely adored that the EC themselves had proper CDs to prevent any issues of lag spikes leading to multicasting. Overall?: 9/10 Absolutely had a blast with the event, only became minorly frustrated at one point but in the grand scheme of things the thing I was annoyed over was significantly less than what I had felt at other events for ECs. I would definitely attend more events ran by Madsen regardless of outcome, they really sell the atmosphere of a location while presenting horrifying enemies in fun ways! Any other comments? : The only other thing that I find somewhat flustering is four rewards being presented for five characters. Only for the fact that it feels like it creates an odd man out scenario where one person made a risk but will be getting nothing. That makes me anxious as a player because it makes me feel like I may need to argue with my fellow writers with one person being left out and feeling bad, I don't know how we should go about selecting them unless it's through RNG rolling and even that would likely make someone feel salty, but I assume it's because of something that was presented during the IC that was turned down. Edit : I found out afterwards that there were rewards for each player and I had missed out on one player taking up their reward, I rescind that part of my review. Final Score : 9.5/10! |
