The Patriarch, before my Mother took his place, used to weave tales to the younglings before we slept.
He would tell us that they were prophetic dreams of a past long forgotten.
That in the eons past, within the depths of the oceans, there laid a place beyond places.
A temple which stood before the Coral Gates. Where he claimed Yama could bare witness to his people.
He said that before the Shiver drifted from seabed to seabed. From waters to waters. We were Guardians.
Guardians to his Will. We stood tall, and mighty. As sturdy and as strong as the Reefs themselves.
He always ended the tale with a single statement: Follow the Underwater River.
....
It's just a story. But truth be told, I dream of being something more.
And there's nothing to stop me from chasing that dream, is there?
