Two pages of news, hot off the press, are stapled on the Tavern's billboard.
Quote:Jona of Dragon’s Nest: A New Hope?
In an interview the young, growing Cardinal for Dragon's Nest explained his ambition to see Dragon Nest gain more respect and recognition. Additionally, the boy expressed his need for more dragons with grand ambitions to help it grow and shape the world.
The young man explained: "I wish to Dragon's Nest into the future as the next leader of it, to push the agenda of a grand place where dragons can be born, rise, get strong, and shape the world around them like those in the past."
"Not only that, but also gain like-minded individuals to help it grow and become a dominant force, one that is not recognized as just a 'selected' place but a 'grand' place of warriors..."
Despite there being a 'stigma' about Dragon's Nest, Jona explained that it's his 'favourite place' to rest his head and also the place where he has been the 'happiest' since he came to Meranthe.
"I believe that the Nest needs more dragons that are able to follow through with their ambitions and allow them to take flight like the dragons do - dragons that come from all walks of life to stand in one place, united, so that we can all grow."
Dragon's Nest is a hub and sanctuary of Drakanites faithful to the Divine Dragons. Residents include both Drakanites and Dragons.
Jona further divulged: "So that the lost is found and those that forgot can be reminded. It needs that extra spark of life, it needs to grow - to take over more land and spread so that they can express the beauty that the dragons have."
Cardinals are individuals apart of Dragon Nest's main militant group, of whom fight under a Divine Dragon.
Jona emphasised: "A dragon is that: one that is able to follow their ambitions for better or for worse - someone that is willing to do what is needed for their betterment, or for others."
This comes after Vokel Dawnseeker, initial leader of Dragon's Nest, stepped down from his role of leadership.
Quote:The Nightmare Continues: Night Creatures Spread Havoc
Night Creatures have recently been sighted prowling the outskirts of Dal'thala, causing alarm among residents.
Jona, a member of the Dragon's Nest community, narrowly escaped capture by Night Creatures in a recent encounter. Lucielle Orstein, a friend of Jona's, fell victim to the clutches of Night Creatures, highlighting the urgency of addressing the menace they pose.
Jona explained the incident: "It happened right outside of Dal'thala - I never thought I would see it happen. Mirthandir tried to save Lucille, failed. Bastet tried to save Lucielle, failed. So, in the end, it was just me, trying my best to save Lucielle."
"I tried to get the other back - even though they worked with chaotic forces before, but it was Lucille that deserved the help."
With two choices, Jona chose to save Lucille instead of Mithandir.
He added: "Mithandir was the loss. Lucille was the future."
Night Creatures have been causing extremely high chaos and devastation within Meranthe. Villages lacking defences have been forced to rely on little to combat the threat, many of which being razed or feasted upon.
The death toll, while indiscernible, has lead to extreme casualties, which could climb to levels seen once before during the Days of Ragnarok.

Quote:Investigation Into: The Equisols (plus Camino’s Age)
After investigative endeavours, I, Melionette, have confirmed that the Equisol is an enigmatic lineage.
I have spoken to Lexi Equisol, and she elected to explain: "Sure, my family is full of a few heroes and loads of monsters. Many names hide within the shadows of it that even I don't know."
"Fun fact I heard from Noctis: he's a hundred and seven."
Miss Equisol also posited a striking theory: "But uh... I have reason to believe Camino trumps that."
Camino’s age remains unconfirmed. Miss Meanderwalk is reluctant to ask.
When asked the ‘Top 3 Craziest Moments’ in relation to her family, Lexi explained: "Purify Na’ria, and beat up the Champion of Meranthe who was, at the time, a very young age."
She added: "Throw a rock through my own clinic window?... I have no third in honesty."
I investigated deeper: "Lexi, can you please tell me what personal mental anguish lead to you throwing a rock through your own window?"
Lexi divulged: “A bottle of wine.”
Quote:Walpurgis? What’s that?
Walpurgis is a ritual aimed at bringing a country into ruin and suffering, with the ultimate goal of communing with the First Witch, Amelia Elaide.
The ritual occurs every 100 years in a different country. This century, the target is Meranthe.
One of my patrons, Oliphr, displayed ignorance to this topic.
I elected to inquire: "But, hypothetically, if there was a ritual threatening to send your entire home continent into ruin, and the safety of it hinged on gathering energy from demons of the wilds, what would you ... say in response to that? How would that make you .. feel?"
Oliphr replied: "It would be yet another day in Meranthe."
The man was born in Yurhira and then arrived in Meranthe when he was 12.
Due to his parents dying in transit 50 years ago he became a forager to survive.
"I have things more in my wheelhouse of capabilities to worry about." he summarised.
I theorise Oliphir is stronger than his outward appearance lets on.
2113AC - Exclusive NERA Interview - Dandeli - 04-08-2024
Quote: ✯ INTERVIEW: Stars and Bars with Nera ✯
I, Ms. Meanderwalk, had the fortune of interviewing Nera from Nightview, a community Nera described as: “ People who...wanna live in peace, study stars, farm.. and craft.. .away from politics...and all."
Melionette Meanderwalk asked: "What are stars to you?"
Nera said: "They are amazing lights in the distance, which lighten our night sky up, shining ever sparkling.. they were there for Nera, after the fall. I was laying for.. I don't remember how long.. in pain on the floor, watching days and night shimmer together, laying hurt.. watching the stars was Nera's only comfort."
"But Closer.. if you view a star closer, they are so much more than light. Each star is.. like a person, they have a personality, a voice.. a life so to speak!"
"Stars are.. for Nera.. very important. Nera just loves stars from the bottom of Nera's heart! And hugging one is the best feeling ever!"
Nightview's Observatory, located next to the star bar, welcomes everyone who wants to learn about the stars, view the stars, or even visit the Star Realm.
It was established by Caeles roughly in the 2060s, the original owner of the Tower, for studying stars.
Nera talked about memories made in the Observatory: "I have fond memories of my time with the mute Star Drakanite Caeles, he is.. was.. my teacher before he left to wander the world."
“Other fond memories are ... .the star ritual we held in there to empower Aren to… make him stronger and get a bond to the other stars in the cosmos…..then the construction of the star realm assembly ... .and well Holding the star classes in the observatory!"
Aren is a star which made Nera's Star Realm possible after Nera nurtured it back to health. It took Nera 45 years to achieve this feat, and around 38 years for the realm's construction.
Nera talked about her own patron star, reading from a book: “Koin, found in the Kismet constellation, is a brighter star, in the centre of a rhombus of four other stars that make up Kismet. Blue in colour, Koin was once two stars that have since merged, their cores not yet united, making the mass slightly oblong.
Notes include that he is known for a connection to those seeking their match, Koin's connection offers feelings of companionship, but also longing. Many look to the star for guidance in finding their soulmate."
Melionette Meanderwalk asked: "WAIT! A star realm? What’s that about?"
Nera explained: "Ah yes the star realm assembly.. .is...a complex part of several magi tech devices… .which make it up ... and with them…. Nera has created WITH lots of help LOTS....a star realm…..a starry place...a cosmic oasis for any star mages!"
Nera kindly reminded me I, Ms. Meanderwalk, could visit after my self-imposed house arrest sentence comes to a close.

Strife in the West!
During the training session for the west, the Queen of Londo gave a public outcry and abasement of the King of Serenity. Accusing the King of attempting to undermine her authority and bring the forces of the west under his control. The King refuted such a claim, as this was merely a training exercise for all of the people of the west and their allies.
The Guard of Londo spoke in protest against their Queen, along with the majority of the Attendees, all of whom were there to train themselves for the threat of the Fel. The complaint of her attempting to undermine this joint effort and make things complicated when they should not have been.
Rather than maintain the dignity of her station, the Queen quickly decided to utter a threat of becoming a Villain and punishing the attendees. She tried to place this off as a Joke.
Does this mark the start of the fracturing of the Western Alliance and Londo itself? The Quill will stand by to continue to observe.

2113 AC - DARK OPINION - TOME I - Dandeli - 04-08-2024
Quote:
Ladies and Gentlemen; I, Melionette, have been given a bountiful feast of debauchery to indulge in.
However, a disclaimer, and forewarning; Melionette Meanderwalk does not agree with, nor does she condone, any of the blasphemously insane sentiments conveyed within this piece.
Furthermore, Melionette extends the 'Right of Reply' right to anyone who reads this paper and sees their name enclosed.
Please send in your scathing (or polite) replies.
Not all facts are confirmed in stone: use your own common sense and discretion.
Now, with the stage set. .
I present to you the first opinion: "My darkest evilest opinion is that the quill and tavern should be IMMEDIATELY shut down with haste..."
I, Melionette, exercising my right of reply, say: "No. Make me."
CHAPTER I: THE YOUTH
Dark opinions have first flooded in with ties to the next generation; these kind souls below find themselves mulling over the youth's future and current prospects. A forewarning and lesson for the future, next to a critique of the present.
"We have only felt the ripples of the great wave of death. Worse will come, in greater numbers, and soon. An entire generation will have to embrace a position on the edge of oblivion, and accept that they could fall at any time. Their minds will become hard, cold and granite-dark.
The only future for the youth, the ones we want to protect most, is one in which they build something kinder over the ashes."
"Children are slaughtered and killed without hesitation but people whom idle within their city have heroes saving them."
CHAPTER II: GLOOMLIGHT
Gloomlight, or, it's people, aptly dubbed 'Gloomlightians', also seem to have a buffet of theories levied against them.
"I believe that there are witches in Gloomlight that are protected by the Oracle. How else do they create faceless and make soldiers?"
"I think Gloomlight is amassing demons of "Agarthan" nature to secretly police Dalthala. It would explain the lack of presence the old king has."
"Ysayl dul Vique is a hypocrite and an aspiring tyrant. She decides who lives and dies based on her personal whims and who she thinks is important enough to her to be worth protecting. She withholds information of her executions from the public and keeps the wealth of those slain in Aphrosian coffers. Rumor has it she keeps the preserved corpse of a Magic Beast for some nefarious ritual..."
CHAPTER III: ???
I'm not even going to summarize the next point; it speaks for itself.
"I think people should start treating Mystical Beasts like the wild animals they are. We should be cultivating them, helping them grow, than butchering them like we would a chicken or a cow! I mean the cores are pretty useful, but some of them are potentially edible. Surely they're edible, right? Right? I'm not the ONLY one who wants to try eating them am I!? Ents could be a vegetarian dish, owldrakes are just overgrown birds, I bet the metal tin-man I've seen walking around has some meat beneath all that... And the stone golem-like one? Perfect for creating mystical salt! This is a perfectly sane thought process. Right!? Right!?"
CHAPTER IV: Individualised, Personalized, Customized Assaults
Individuals have theories, assertions, and other proclamations levied against them; it would be a lie to say a large majority of these all didn’t come from the same bundle of letters - three of them, after transcription, died to my meddling and crumpled into my hands.
I spread their ashes over my small potted succulent to nourish it.
"I think Tal'guth is still a demon. I heard from someone that he told the late Lucky Luciano to study Necromancy to fix his little problem."
"Aegis and the Caewynn.. Dawnseeker family are a cult of witch harboring xenophobes. With Sabathiel's death, Leonard has taken up his late father's goals of radical racial superiority to subjugate the 'lesser races' of Meranthe."
"A certain king isn't as innocent as he wants his people to believe. His power is built on a foundation of blood, gold, and tortured children."
"Azalea Aubreen, kind and peace-loving. If she is truly the re-embodiment of Aschea, then why has she allowed Aschea's ancient enemy, the Moonfall Coven, to fester on Meranthian soil?"
"Nyflheim is a ghost town. Ever since the death of Ilathia, the settlement is only held together by a skeleton crew of non-magi. Why does such a place continue to stand, despite having known ties to Prospera's old-guard?"
"Aegis once destroyed the island of the Fel Gardens with a massive bomb. If they are capable of such destruction, why have they allowed the Atrellyan menace to linger unopposed?"
"The surviving remnants of Skarnfel have done more good for Meranthe as a whole than any of the myriad rulers of the kingdoms ever will."
"Bartholomew Wilkersson did nothing wrong."
“Katrina Astalet should be granted eternal life, only so that she can experience eternal suffering.”
Melionette posts a seriously abhorrent page of text onto her all-beloved newsboard.
2113AC - Azalea Aubreen's Right-to-Reply - Dandeli - 04-10-2024
Melionette Meanderwalk says: “Damn.”
Melionette would tack a paper with a giant stamp saying 'RIGHT OF REPLY' onto her board.
The ink is elegant, the sirenian's replication of the Goddesses' words holding a smidge more majesty than the usual prose.

Quote:Azalea Aubreen here to respond to that one's little worries!
There is no allowing - but I, and Aschea, are different.
She chose me to succeed as her heir, and so I do what I can, where I can, in ways that are my own - to retain my independence, and sense of self!
But don't fret, nor worry overtly much. I have a lot going on, and there are lots of things I am attempting to do here and there to make the world better.
But - now, this might be hard - I do not believe I should be at the forefront of the main efforts in expunging the demons or witches,
and it is because of a very simple, yet sad fact:
Humanity must have faith in their Gods and Goddesses, as our power is given and blesses those who walk our path,
but Humanity has reached a point that it shouldn't overtly rely on them to solve their problems.
I 'sleep' - often - as there are things I do to keep Balance in the realm between, thanks to Solais.
If I cannot trust in Humanity to make their decisions and defend themselves,
then there is a problem. For a God must have as much faith in their people as their people have in them.
But do not worry overtly much.
When I am called, I will answer. If one needs uplifting, I will be there.
In the same vein, after all, one could easily ask this same question of many Gods or Goddesses.
You are not alone, however. Nourish yourselves, and grow stronger together.

Attack on Arcadia
Arcadia, the pastoral town on the borders of Delphina has once more suffered an attack by an extremist force. This time an assassination attempt on the Senator of the settlement in his own home. With the aid of rift magic, it seems that this person can strike at any leader he so wishes.
In addition to this attack, the Senator’s home was burned down, the surrounding crowd revealing that the entire town is one massive fire hazard. Is this a scam by a construction company in order to constantly have work? We shall investigate the builders to see if this is the case.
