"What shall become of him?"

Oliphr gained Occult over time by taking in the pain and suffering of others by absorbing their Occult mana injuries into himself. This was, incidentally, due to a subconscious decision to harm himself to pay penance over the death of his parents and the loss of his guild.

When an acquaintance had acquired a Spire Shard, Oliphr took the brunt of the magic radiating from it as the acquaintance was trying to stabilize it, which would fry Oliphr's circuits and stain them with mana from the shard.

The Occult and the Aether clashed, as one was the symbol of piety and the other a symbol of worthlessness and sorrow. Decades of suppressing both, succumbing to the pains of the Occult, which healed with time. Eventually, Oliphr received permanent damage when his promise to the Aether mana, to appease it, was broken and it split his mind between the 'Jiuweihan' Holy Crusader fire magi and the depressed, solitary nature magi.

 After time of dealing with the Aether outbursts, it began to hit Oliphr that, perhaps, he was not truly blessed by Jiuweihu... was he even noticed by her? Was his faith a farce he lied to himself to believe that Jiuweihu acknowledged him? The proof was evident to him, after this realization, he realized how cold the world was, even in the light of the Sun... perhaps he was abandoned by Jiuweihu... maybe he was never even seen to begin with...

The Aether, again, fought against him when he sought aid from the faithful of Athelios. With the help of Tecuani under the watch of Ysayl in Gloomlight, he had his mind repaired with the power of the Lifestream, but the fragments of the Aether and Occult lingered... intertwined with him permanently. The realization that his beliefs in Jiuweihu were all his own, that there was no true care for him- Oliphr found comfort in Gala, the one who worked in the dark to bring light to life. The bringer of stars to the void of the cosmos.

Taking to her teachings from Nera, Oliphr acclimated to the faith well, finding his life aligning to being a Galan faithful more easily than it ever had when he was praying to Jiuweihu. Suddenly, he found himself being an active member of the faith in the depths of the desert lands. So much so that he found himself taking vows that the Occult within him would be used to grant aid to the light-bringers to keep her stars safe from the darkness. The knowledge of the enemy's power within his very circuits, he would use the information to perform several sanctifications, blessings against the Occult, provide medical assistance to those afflicted- going so far as to learn to break down Fantasia and understand its very components, including concluding his hypothesis on that ever elusive 'essence' used to empower it.

Though it was not readily apparent to anyone outside of a select few who interacted with Oliphr, the fragments of the uncontrolled Occult began to wear away at his mind. Reaching into his mind and making his memories hazy, making him forget little by little and blanching the tang color from his hair. With the executions of his adopted children, Arkeid H. Sun and Celestine Ishiko, his Occult began to take over at an unprecedented rate, serving to exacerbate the Occult that was slowly corrupting his mind from the division. The sorrow that fueled his Occult running beyond rampant, beyond his control.

Since then, Oliphr has worn a mask to cover the affliction of the Occult affecting his eyes, evidence that his condition has been getting worse and worse as he begins to become more forgetful when he has sorrowful or rage-inducing emotions. Forcing him to adopt armor and an amulet which would dispel and absorb the Occult from him as well as abandon any emotion he could to remain sane and unaltered. Despite his condition, he made it a point to keep acting as a priest of Gala, performing sermons, baptisms, weddings and more. He vowed the Occult would be a tool for him to aid her work and it was a vow he planned to keep to the end.

When Morana died, Oliphr quietly rejoiced in saving his daughter, Celestine from Morana's abode; now, only to feel sorrow knowing Celestine died after taking the form of a monster with one of these blood materials. When Bronach died, Oliphr offered her a promise to help find the one she promised to help and do what he could to help her if he could find her. For Vdali, Oliphr stayed behind once everyone had left and gave him words of solace for his imprisonment, leaving behind a cosmic Cerberus and three elixirs.

Making his way to the Tower, where he entered to end up seeing the state of Vdali, Oliphr would clash with his mind as the Occult began to take hold of the latent sorrow that creeps in his mind...

Between succumbing to the Occult's corruption and becoming a Radiant of Gala and reverting to himself.
