As of late, there were numerous sightings of a swordsman clad in all black, traveling back and forth along the paths between Midpoint, Artellya, and Mementos.

On his person? He carries what appears to be a tentacle made of plant matter that is tied to the side of his waist, 

with remnants of ooze staining it and sparks of magic core fragments hidden within.

To those with a keen ability of mana sensing?

They may be able to recognize its signature as one belonging to a magical beast, known by some by the simple name of Monster.

Worn on his person and out in the open. A lure for those who'll seek to either claim the piece for themselves, or reclaim it.

Is it a trap?

A challenge?

An invitation?

No words are sent forward to explain the thoughts behind the swordsman's mind. No letters delivered.
Perhaps the only way to learn the purpose behind his actions?

Is to take the bait.

The bait, taken

A battle has occured north of Faiovein Cave, where the boars often pass by in herds.

A skirmish under the eve of midnight, scant of witnesses that can tell how the battle has unfolded.
What the people can witness, however? Is the aftermath.
The earth upturned, twisted in unatural ways. Flora that wasn't there the night before, from vines to trees, cut down in the clash.

Red blood spilled, staining a shaken up earth that was sliced through as if a giant knife moved across the ground.

While information is scarce for now? To those with an ear kept close to the chattering townsfolk, can hear of sightings of the swordsman dressed in black further west.
Wounded, but alive.
