Upon His Throne

Winter, 2184AC.

Three decades and eight long winters have crawled by since Mestra was slain. Thirty years have passed since the usurper seated himself upon her throne. Seasons of sins have gone unanswered since Meranthe was last made to hold its breath in waiting.

But the hour of judgment draws near.

In Goldlight and Gloomlight, the air is thick with an unease no one dares name for months. Knights of the Order and the Bastion sharpen steel and steady their blades, though the purpose of such preparations remains a mystery. Behind sealed doors, murmured words are exchanged, theories and strategies shared until a final decision is made. The signs are everywhere, impossible to dismiss, yet these questions linger on in many minds. When and where will they strike?

Until the day of reckoning finally arrives.

Eloise Elaide Wrote:We shall cleanse Meranthe of the First's influence and purge the final stain of the Demonkind. For Mestra, for all that was taken taken, we rise. Hold your ground, steel your heart and face the Godslayer's legions without fear in your heart.

Humanity has always, and will always, prevail.

Do you remember my promise, Godslayer?
Finality approaches.

Before even the ashes have had time to grow cold in the ruins of Viritas, the last few open bastions of the Fel now purged, the Vicar-General puts out a statement.

Quote:
The time is finally upon us. Long has the Imperfect enjoyed the relative safety of their hidden domain, but no longer. Meranthe no longer sits on the backfoot, waiting for his next move. This time?

We set the pace. We start the dance.

They think nothing of humanity. We will show them our ability to seize our fates with our own two hands. The die is cast, and what lies ahead will be of our own choosing.
The Vicar-General maintains her oaths to Eloise Elaide.
The Goldlight Order will drag Varrach down from his throne.

Wounds scar,
but are never truly forgotten.

Following the acts of the crusade, the Commander, Alaric Bargiel is quick and without hesitation in mobilizing the might of the Bastion in support of Eloise's efforts to rid Meranthe of the Demon Lord Varrach. A squadron of elite magi assembled to move in tandem with the bringer of Finality and those who have opted to stand with her. War horns sound as flags of black & white flail yet again. The finest of the Astra and Umbra handpicked to muster in unison.

From the desk of the Commander of the Bastion, a missive is read.

Alaric Bargiel, the Commander of the Bastion Wrote:
Many years have past since the fall of Pscaela, and the great sacrifices that came along with it. Many times you have dismissed me Varrach. Now, you will live to regret having done so. You have come far and seen more success than I care to admit; but this ends here. The Bastion will move in assistance of Eloise Elaide in her efforts against you to the sum of your finality. The Light of Humanity will at long last take grasp of you.

We see clearly that so long as you exist, Meranthe will not know true peace.

For raising your blade against Nix Bargiel,
For taking the life of Barron Bargiel,
And your numerous crimes against humanity - you will face judgement.
Your goals will end with you.

The Commander's word upkept, the Bastion begins preparation for this grand battle of titans.
To march alongside the Goldlight Order and Eloise Elaide, yet again.
The Republic reunites in conjoined efforts.

Not long after the announcement of the Emanator of Finality do people of poor luck begin to disappear from respective cities across Meranthe; only days later does a Knight of the Goldlight Order report that each missing victim was discovered one early morning within the boughs of the Tree of Song, Aquantio. Each witness was incomplete- broken, ill, and subsequently made whole by whatever force had taken them; each returns home fixed in some way, by way of White Magic or Mestra's lost magic of Dreamweaving.
Mitron, Lord of Dreams || Sunflower, Djinn of Koretheia Wrote:"Godslayer, do you know that you are being watched?" Spoke a blind priest of Nemea, their vision restored-

"Dreams were not meant to be stolen," breathed a man who had lost everything from the realm of Aetius- now possesive of a new fortune.

"It is fate that the last Trueborn of Amalia Elaide lays low her final creation," declared an orphaned young squire of the Bastion; a final departing moment with their loved ones bestowed.

"Do not fear destiny," spoke a young Hamadryad as their body faded away into pure Aether...

"This story is meant to have an ending.. A finale," declared a familiar Kitsune as they took the place of the Hamadryad; a face that had not graced Meranthe in over sixty years and yet appeared as young as the day they had departed the realm.

The Knight of the Goldlight Order declared that after their message was passed on through their repaired disciples, the Cloudstrider opened five wayfinding portals at once; returning each repaired mortal to the very place they had gone missing. Not longer after, the figure made their way toward the nation of Delphina; one swears that they had nine tails, through eight of them appeared more like clouds than natural fur.

In the wake of the Vicar-General's decree, storm clouds began to brew over Antefinem. From the very top of the isle's spire, a twinkling blue and emerald light quickly became a radiant gleam visible for miles!

The  |T H U N D E R B I R D|  rises.

The Harbinger of Terminus comes to bring The End to the Godslayer.

Quote:
"Do you remember the lesson you imparted unto me, Varrach?

"The greater the risk, the greater the reward."

Well, I up the ante and raise you everything.
This is my gambit."

Harbinger was no longer the same wet-behind-the ears magi who was denied by Varrach decades ago. No, he was a seasoned leader of a nation and an ascendant in his own right. He'd crossed the threshold of infinity where logic was dethroned not once, but twice. With his son and Meranthe as his witness, the President would see this through to The End.

On the wings of liberty does Antefinem's thunderous symbol of freedom join the fray against Varrach and his forces.

Music
[Image: 0983a1ea1ff22abe2ee6a18db7128c7d.png]

With only the fanfare of its own apparent sight: The Lumin King clad in a whorl of aurorean veils auspicious and timeless to light the closing nights of Winter. At his perch in wait for an hour unbeknownst to most yet unhidden to he, a book of artful reminiscence rendered for a history spannig millenia binding pages of stained glass writ upon in pure light lay in his lap. Chords ancient and hollowed, sacred mysteries dictated in the notation of music, quietly perused alongside many more pages left bare in yearning for fulfillment. Spare for a privileged few, those who ask the occasion as he holds this vigil are given only cryptic soliloquies on elegy and eulogy and the transcendent nature of purest art and beauty.

The course uncovered and hour of its pursuit would not elude that Delphinan host, and so he and his may arrive unbidden to the crucible of fates with. The purpose of this entourage, perhaps, of simple accord with what else has been set in motion. So some may presume, and so that same privileged few would know the cleft of divergence waiting to be split between designs for the future to come - a boon to the cry of vengeance surely, yet so too all the songs of eternal memory which may play beyond that decisive moment.  A conviction of thus however it must come to pass, in all it does and does not assure for those abruptly joined:

When the day is done, may heavens' vengeance be dealt at last.
For all which is won, may it be so for Mestra.
That none shall eclipse Their memory owed to eternity.
Within which lie the succor to heavens' grief.
