The Holy Reliquary of Aphros
-
——————————————————————————————————————
Foundation:
-Formed from the framework of the of the Church of the Aspera's Inquisition, the Holy Reliquary is a branch of Atheleon's clergy caste who have been deigned with a specific duty by the Pontifice, and thus church as whole: The preservation of Aphros and the ways of the Athelite faith. The organization is in its present state in its infancy, and by all means it could be considered less of a wholly separate body to the church, as much as it is an arm it wields, tailored to different kinds of work in pursuit of similar-- If not entirely the same, goals.
Operated under the command of the Chief Curator and only current Cardinal of the Asperan Church, Cirrus Sulibella, this organization attempts to reach out towards those with a mind for the work of explorers, historians, researchers, and caretakers, and draws them in to utilize their talents in order to both recover and document the wisdom and artifacts of Aphrosian Empire for future generations, and ensure that no longer shall the history of the realm become lost as it has so easily without a proper attempt to archive it.
The Labor of The Tome demands that the Reliquary's members are to record the history, culture, and laws of the Empire, both past and present, and attempt to organize the topics of into works of literature, primarily tomes or textbooks on the topic. This labor is the closest to more standard historical and archival work, although it also necessitates good communication skills in order to note down the memories of those select few ancient enough to properly recall the past of Aphros, who grow ever more scarce by the day.
The Labor of the Hand demands that although the Empire is a place of many faiths and beliefs, and in fact Aphros lays home to the officially recognized Krausite sect of the Grand Design and the teachings of the Mind Eater Talguth, the Holy City of Atheleon must preserve its culture and remain firmly within the hands of the students and followers of Athelios and Aethelwine. Its work consists of ensuring the people are well informed of the customs and teachings of the Warden if they reside within the Holy City, in addition to the task of ensuring that any officials of the state are at least knowledgeable in His and Her teachings, and apply them to their actions in office.
This closest resembles the work the Inquistors were originally designed to perform, although its reach has been scaled down to a (mostly)strictly domestic operation out of respect for the ways of other nations.
Last but not least, The Labor of The Relic necessitates the creation, recovery, and upkeep of items considered important to the Asperan Church, which are thus dubbed as Holy Relics. Examples of such include such items as the fabled Silver Chalice, the cause of the war with the nation of Sanctuary, weapons blessed by priests of the Church (particularly ones of fair craftsmanship), and the recently reemerging art of Holy Tech. This calls to both craftsman, researchers, and adventurers loyal the faith who wish to see their patron honored in physical format, and duties relating to the Relic can include but are not limited to forging of new relic, repair of ancient relics, and work with foreign nations to see items considered relics returned to its home within the Empire.

Pursuits:
-While a goal so nebulous as the task assigned to the group may appear rather broad and unclear, the organizational structure of the sect has clearly defined its objectives into a set of three primary "labors", as these duties have been labeled by the Reliquary administration: The Labor of the Tome, The Relic, and The Hand, respectively. The Labor of The Tome demands that the Reliquary's members are to record the history, culture, and laws of the Empire, both past and present, and attempt to organize the topics of into works of literature, primarily tomes or textbooks on the topic. Organization:
The Reliquary is split into two divisions, with ranks consisting of numerical orders ranging from the numerals I-IV.
Rank IV are trainees without true power or authority, about in equal rank as a squire of the bastion or a church initiate would be.
Rank III would be proper members of the organization, with authority equal to a standard priest who would perform the majority of the work of the Reliquary. The documentation, caretaking, defending, and review of officials suspected as not adhering to the doctrines of Athelios properly would all fall upon them.
Rank II, and subsequently rank I, are the two heads of the organization, reserved for the Chief Curator and Pontifice respectively, and serve as its leadership.
Moving onto the divisions, although the organization is one and the same and their duties technically no different from one another, every potential member of the Reliquary is assessed for their talents and aptitude for certain kinds of work, and asked to decide between the position of 'Antiquarian' and 'Inquisitor'. Antiquarians handle primarily the non-combative, interior work of the organization, such as record-keeping, relic maintenance and creation, and overall works far more with items than they do with people.
Inquisitors, on the other hand, are sent out far more often to tackle the more meddlesome duties demanded by the labors of the hand and the relic, and is commonly sent out to collaborate with governmental organizations to ensure that the faith is respected in addition to taking the field in order to recover relics-- Or what would be needed to create relics, through whatever means are deemed fit by the church and governmental offices. One who wishes to be an Inquisitor must be ready to take up the blade, serving as a hand through which the will of Athelios and Aethelwine may be directly sent out in order to seek out the best interests of the faith, oftentimes alongside the Bastion.

OOC Notes:
-There are plans to send Inquisitors on a LOT of different events, sending them out to recover relics of the church that have been scattered all throughout the world. If you like eventing, it could be really fun for you-- Or if you like rping an Athelite paladin maniac. Inquisitors will be where we're slotting in church pcs who want to do combat to separate them from civilian priests, so there will be all sorts of fun rp there.
-Antiquarians will be doing a lot of rp involving interviewing, lorekeeping, and crafting so if you want to dev, we will be trying to consistently feed our little Antiquarians the mats to get that done.
-For any questions, please DM slugslob on discord if interested! We might even have an emporium up soon!
