Character: Bastis Hiraeth
Event: Family fishing trip
Responsiveness: 10/10. Quick narrates, never felt like I was waiting overly long. Actually, I felt like the DM spent more time waiting for us to stop mucking about to advance the plot.
Balance: 10/10. Two bosses, both had their good qualities. The Kraken was a bit squisher but could do hella damage if we weren't careful, I wasn't so sure at first about it's difficulty until I realized that it wasn't the final boss, but the prelude to the secret plot twist boss. He was a challenge, there were moments even I felt like I needed to hide in a orner so I didn't get smotten, and worse-- He had a mainer accent.. Overall, enjoyable!
Storytelling: 10/10. Absolutely fantastic. It's exactly what I wanted it to be, a fishing trip amongst family where bonding was readily encouraged, we all had freedom to do our own dumb shit. From Grilling, to fishing, to trying to keep the boat from falling apart. Culminating in a final treasure hunt, and a fight against a kraken. Just when we thought it was over, twist villian too, just as a cherry on top.
Fairness: 10/10. Rewards were exactly what I expected for a low COD, Chill, Fishing event.
Overall: 10/10. I'm biased here because I've been wanting something like this for a majority of my character. It was everything I wanted out of it-- Some cute flavor, some risk, some adventure. Ample time and encouragement to do our thing, and the DM adapting for so. I like, will make sure to schedule the next trip with a less sketchy captain though.
Additional Comments:
LET ANY FISH
WHO MEETS MY GAZE
LEARN THE TRUE MEANING OF FEAR
FOR I AM THE HARBRINGER OF DEATH
THE BANE OF CREATURES SUBAQUEOUS
MY ROD IS TRUE AND UNWAVERING
AS I CAST INTO THE AQUATIC ABYSS
A MAN, SCORNED BY THIS UNCARING EARTH
FINDS SOLACE IN THE SEA
MY ONLY FRIEND
THE WORM UPON MY HOOK
WRIGGLING, WRITHING
STRUGGLING TO SURMOUNT
THE MORTAL POINTLESSNESS
THAT PERMEATES THIS BARREN EARTH
I AM ALONE
I AM EMPTY
AND YET
I FISH
