In the last year, the hustle and bustle within the fortress of Stonehaven had only grown in response to the accusations levied at the King under the Mountain at his fellow King's wedding. The throne room had been dusted off and prepared for a grand affair, efforts made to ensure that when the day that had been writ in stone arrived, the dwarf lord would be able to clear his name and move on with his work.
A day disturbed not for a grave affair that would merit having more value than clearing the king's name.
But a wedding.
It was not long before the enraged response of the Dwarf King, Lord Daggar Coaltooth, was released by beleaguered messengers.
Quote:I endured a terrible insult at a fellow sovereign's wedding, and I accepted swift judgement upon bein' accused because I was confident in my innocence. I prepared my halls for this exact day, but it is clear that the accusers do not take this as seriously as I did. My time has been wasted, and now it is likely yet another year or more until judgement can be rendered. More time for damages to my reputation without stake. If ye' believe a wedding is more important than my name, ye' will compensate me for this insult, or accept that there is no validity in yer accusations. If ye' desire to perform this ritual any later than the decided upon date, I will require two hundred and fifty thousand gold for damages. It is basic law. Myself, I'll gladly take the coin an' the exoneration, for I will be doubly rich an' nae the poorer for it.
It appeared that the King under the Mountain had spoken. His famous temper had once more showed its face.
Gold, for the truth. If they desired it so earnestly.
