Character: Mystara Hiraeth
Event: Reverence of the Dead
Responsiveness: 10/10 Basically at all times had something to do, process or solve. It was huge omg, the event had lots of things to do and a very natural flow to it where the party could do as they pleased. We had an entire, interactable MAP made for with 'hotspots' to play around in. No matter if the people were split up or not, the DM found a way to keep us all not waiting too long. The -only- time we had to wait was when we all decided to split up individually to tackle a task, and the DM had to take us away. Which is completely and utterly fine as this was what we decided IC!!! While we waited for our turns, the DM kept us entertained with fun interactions OOC and some light trolling that lightened the mood to an otherwise grim and dark event. (I LOVE YOU AND HATE YOU FOR PLAYING WITH OUR FEELINGS LIKE THAT.)
Balance: 9/10 Every fight was balanced around our party of multiple armed users, none felt like a free-win. All truly felt like a mini-raid boss where we needed to use Spheres of Healing and time our invuls correctly or else we will die. Very fun stuff. Although, I do think that the difficulty could've been a /little/ higher, Especially for the bosses. The other aspects were perfectly balanced, I believe.
Storytelling: 10/10 Wow. Everything flew greatly, with the overarching goal of the event the DM managed to create side-plots within this 8 hour event which we were free to use to our advantage/disadvantage. Not one hour went by where I lost touch with what is happening with the DM's care, detailed and patient approach to pacing. We could've missed alot of the story if we didn't interact with the environment. Everything that should've made sense, made sense and everything that was up for interpretation was likewise. The DM did some good questioning before the event to get to know our characters which -really- helped during some very emotional scenes for certain people.
Fairness: 9/10 Yeah everything was great!! While I am a stinky kiter who will not fall in an event fight, everybody else did! The actual overall danger element of the event very much equated to the prized received. I'm pretty sure there were multiple ways for us to royally screw up (I think we nearly did it a few times), for which the consequences would've been severe. I am 100% sure of this. Also like I said earlier, bosses can be juuuust a little stronger to punish people like me. Maybe when tab targeting focus first on the kiters? The melee users are going to walk into your spells regardless.
Overall: 10/10
Compared to our last event which was somewhat rushed due to all of ours ooc time constraints - this was a completely different experience. I think OneBrainCell is very much coming into their element as a DM and is distinguishing a niche for herself. If you want a 8+ hour long event, with layers of content - hit her up. You will have an entire day of entertainment. I can see that she is really enjoying it too, and I'm really happy she's back to doing these again more solidly!! I have been on alot of events on my time in Eternia, none have even come close to comparing to this with depth and thought put into it. It wasn't a linear journey and I really appreciate that. It was a personalized well-crafted experience.
