Most demons seldom know history - but Varrach is not like most demons. Intrigued by the calamity of 124 from the tales and historic accounts that the Wolf has discovered, they seek to reach far enough to find something that could cause a similar calamity- something that would be needed to cause an event of mass death, to harvest this energy, and turn towards making something truly different.
