The stars are vanishing
#1

"You've noticed it too, haven't you.
How the  stars are vanishing.

It was subtle at first, one on the edge of the universe blinking out.
Then another. Then another."

"No doubt an ill omen; a warning of what's to come."

All around Meranthe, astronomers and cosmic magi have noticed disturbances in the stars.
It seems as those several stars have simply... Vanished.
What was once there, is there no longer.

It is not as though they exploded, or burned out in a slow and meticulous way;
No, it is as simple as looking up one day and them being gone, with no explanation or evidence they existed at all.

Many are debating what the cause is;
Many more are debating what this could mean.
But one thing is for certain...

The stars are vanishing.
And that can mean nothing good.

Cosmic magi in particular seem to be feeling a particular unease;
As they look upon the night, it's as if something is staring back at them.
Clawing at the back corners of their mind from the hidden folds between the universe's tapestry.
A constant, unending, harrowing feeling...

That something out there is watching them.

The universe weeps; as another star vanishes.
The sounds of  a crying child often heard in the night, amidst shadows, and other points of festering darkness
with no discernable trace.
Something is no doubt afoot once more.

Cosmic Magi report seeing more odd movement amidst the galaxies above.
That feeling of being watched only seeming to grow with time.
Where for a while it was silent, one more..
Does something beckon.

Harrowing nightmares return once more.
Visions of eyes amidst the moonlight.
The blackness plagued with the writhing masses of something unseen.
Unending is the sight that some dare look toward.

Those distraught sounds of weeping only seeming to grow more cumbersome by the day.

Alas, much like last time;
It is most likely a fleeting occurrence.
Though one thing is certain.

A particular name has begun to spread among the Magi of Meranthe.
Whispered and ushered in from a once unknown trace.
Pooling into the minds of those who look toward the stars.
A simple message.

The unsettling events unfolding in the cosmos have intensified, dispelling any notion of mere coincidence. Another star has faded into nothingness, adding to the growing sense of unease that Raithe had been feeling.

]Numerous peculiar incidents and weird movements have been witnessed among the stars. Eerie sounds of weeping children have been carried by the moonlit night, accompanied by an unsettling sensation—the feeling of being watched.

These occurrences demand attention no matter how brief they are, they cannot be disregarded any longer. In response, Raithe Djulkorren will start to investigate with the aim to uncover the identity or nature of the entity responsible.

"It begins."

OOC Note: Ngl I probably spelt the name wrong, but oh well.
I'm running hands with whoever invented forums.

The Phantom Investigates.

While those of fel were often one to ignore such disturbances Eranath would not be of the sort the cosmic interferences within the realm would gain the Kaor's attention and given the circumstances of the last interaction with the entity, it would waste any time to prepare.
Quote:
"You attempted to enthrall me last time we connected.
Know that I hold regard for only myself and the Demon King.
I will see you punished for your mistake.
you will be devoured."
-Eranath, Phantom Lord of Slumber

The disturbing sounds of weeping and children crying are a normal occurrence within the confines of Skarnfel.
Phantom would often be caught glancing towards the cosmos.
Sensing it within the space.
The Entity approaches, and the Phantom is preparing a feast.

OOC: I want to eat it. Whos with me?

The Demon King was perhaps a bit more aware than most of the vanishing of stars.
The name that scratched upon its mental barrier, its Grey, while it was in an artificial slumber, was recognized as a foreign body.
Like a viral infection that it had once before— Na'Ria knew of this thing, but was unaffected by the disturbance.

A scratch was still a scratch, however.
And the entity was something it must know more of.

Despite holding no connection or attachment to any of those celestial bodies, the Lord of Knowledge knew it.
Yet, it was unknowable by design; and now, it was spreading that hazardous, anomalous nature to many more.
Information hazards that started anew like a wildfire and proliferated like blood in a fresh wound.
Stars twinkling for the last time, perhaps a final signal of their aid— and then they vanished.

As if they knew it was the last time any would know they existed.
Some stars would be missed, but most would not.
Unfortunately, one cannot know everything's existence as precious until they begin to die.
Like a species hurtling to extinction, or a forest largely uprooted for a building's exact placement.

Yet, Na'Ria did not act.
It wished to see this innately unknowable thing, yet did not wish to bring it closer.
It wished to see just what would happen if left unattended, yet did not want to jeopardize its own ascent.
It wanted to know— yet it did not want to know.

It did not wish to fly too close to the sun, and burn its wings upon something so grand and vast.
The Imperfect knew just what it was capable of, and this was not something it could handle— or study— alone.

Icarus should keep his wings.
So, the Angel of Hel will keep its own.
It needed to see, anyways.
Even if He Who Gazes saw it.

A harrowing scream pierces the veil;
The cries of a lost child dying out with it.
The gaping holes left in the galaxy by whatever consumed the stars seemed to bubble and swell.

That impending feeling of being watched only grows stronger.
As more hear Its name, more find themselves burdened with that feeling.

Reports seem to be flooding in from across Meranthe;
That whispered name that plagued the mind of Cosmic magi everywhere spreading beyond.
The mere mention of it seemingly a hazard that twists the mind and perception of reality.

As soon as it came. The scream dies out.
Though that sensation of It watching remains.
