As the forces of the fel seem to be unstoppable in the wars they wage against the rest of Meranthe's people. A selkie makes a shot in the dark to give his family and friends a better chance once they are in the crosshairs.
Confirming with various maps the presumed location an ancient meteorite landed in the ocean,Triton and co. set out to harvest its ancient ore. Or alternatively scavenge the weapons sirens had made from it long before any of them were born.
Unbeknownest to them however, the meteorite was raised from the depths by sirens centuries ago into one of their floating cities... And met their end to a beast that had been brought down with the fallen star as well. Perhaps time has slain it, or tempered its wrath so it may be tamed, or a more permanent solution will be needed to claim the precious ore.
