OUR QUEST FOR JUSTICE NEVER TIRES

Quote:So comes to the conclusion the trial of Na'ria.
She stood accused for:
  • Ordering the war that led to Aphros' destruction
  • The deaths associated with said war (Most notably, Palade Avincus and Edward Aubreen)
  • The growth of the Fel Empire after the death of former imperfects

Her points presented in defense were:
  • She was born anew
  • Her sins were paid for in the first death
  • Her preference was to aid the people in undoing her own evil

As it stands, each major city had rights to its own vote, and a representative for it. The jury deemed her GUILTY.

Efforts were made to establish a sentence. Ultimately, Na'ria refused to agree to a middle ground and a fair sentence where she'd be stripped of all attributes reminiscent of her past demonic life, as well as her memory - Thus, allowing for her to effectively begin life anew, and prove her own worth. With their protest and the affirmative voicing that she was still the same as before her death, as well as uncounted insults that sought to equate her own past life with Exarch Sabathiel's parenthood, a vote eventually was divided between two final sentences.

EXECUTION, where the essence of the Spire Shard that courses through her as well as the divine magic that seems to have resulted from it to be used as blood to wash the lands of her former Empire of her sins, or any other methods of execution which make good use of her essence in accordance to the customs of Meranthe.

MERCY, where the archon would be allowed to do as she had first asked to and help cleanse the lands. This one would be monitored by Azalea Aubreen.

Unfortunately, as it stands, the Archon's unwillingness to accept that some might consider her presence controversial or simply unwanted as well as any sentence that was not self-inflicted is made manifest once more. To prevent the same situation as with the Servant, it was requested that she keep a collar on her for the sake of knowing her whereabouts while a verdict was reached.

Said collar was destroyed.

Given her recent temper tantrum, it becomes clear that she would have accepted no absolution for her own misdeeds in the past beyond that of the bare minimum she would need to survive. Perhaps the demonic instinct of prioritizing one's survival and their narcissistic nature are, as she aptly put, still her.

As a result of her acts before the trial's votes were properly cast, the verdict settled as follows:

XUEFENG - Mikoto Shinjitsu - EXECUTION
GLOOMLIGHT - Loramelian - MERCY
FINAL FRONTIER - Svengalf Sandsker - MERCY
AEGIS - Sabathiel Caewynn - EXECUTION
DAL'THALA - Camino de Caewynn - EXECUTION
BOUNTY - NA'RIA
500,000 COINS - ALIVE

ANY CITY WHICH PROTECTS THE CRIMINAL IN QUESTION FROM RETRIBUTION
WILL BE SUBJECT TO A SIEGE IN ORDER TO RETRIEVE THE ARCHON

A brief statement is presented in response to Aegis's declaration:

"The day immediately following the trial, I spoke with Mikoto Shinjitsu to inform them of the vote as it stood and that their vote had not been registered. They assured me that their official vote was MERCY and they would be submitting it by letter immediately. Hence rendering the trial closed on a verdict of MERCY months and months prior to this supposed judgment."

"Anyone who doubts my word is free to investigate my memories via telepathic search, and to verify for themselves that the gift of Mortyl's love prevents any alteration of those memories by any force."

Signed, simply and without any reference to faction, Loramelian Ueda.

A reply is swift to follow, pinned to notice boards with daggers, circulated by messenger birds far and wide.

"I speak not for Gloomlight or Aphros, but for someone who sat in that room and swallowed countless irregularities in the 'trial's' approach to justice out of the interest in submitting to a fair and impartial process.

I do not believe there is anyone with the slightest familiarity with the concept of a trial who would permit the possibility of a judge changing their vote months later to invalidate the initial verdict, likely at the hand of continued political pressure from interested factors.

Aegis thinks to cloak their hateful bloodlust in the guise of justice. That cannot be permitted. I call on all Meranthe to acknowledge that this verdict is invalid, by Mikoto Shinjitsu's own uncontested admission that they altered their vote after the fact-

And, as such, this bounty is nothing more than an attempt to buy murder."

Out from the factitious winds of Unreality as they sweep gently across the uniform furrows of a ripening grain, a lone figure peers into the benighted horizon cast over its hilly plain. Inexplicable is the self-refusal of this yield to wither in the bounty of this seemingly false earth, thriving when all common precepts may suggest otherwise. In her hand of heavy chitin pens the word on parchment to a special man beyond this gloomy, defiant expanse.

An open letter addressed to Sabathiel Caewynn carries into the light.

Quote:When I first launched the Crusade, we shared a vision. Fifty years later, that vision has finally been realized, and now you spoil to spoil it with what can only be described as abandoned bloodlust.

Ever since you were a child, I watched you grow with a leery concern for where your life might lead. Your lofty aspirations of redeeming your family name and undoing the damage inflicted by your father; there was something picturesque about your journey that couldn't help captivate. There was something romantic to your quest of breaking a cycle by absconding the path lain by your father. Yet I remember clearly how you spurned our Pontifice for not being a man of the sword, and not at the fore of our armies leading and inspiring blades, as though that were his designation. Your worldview has not changed to be any less violent since.

You are a hammer desperate to find its next nail.

It is a shame that you have embarked on his same trajectory, determined to breed discontent and chaos where none is required. I often pray in gratitude you were not born an Occultist, for you make one better than most I have met. It is perplexing how the peace we have all desperately striven to attain now risks its undoing at the whim and will of one supposed holy man and his longing for senseless revenge.

You were robbed of your destiny in killing Lyseroth. You were robbed of a deed and opportunity that rightfully belonged to you.

For that, I am sincerely apologetic, and I have no remedy for the valor stolen from you.

Murdering Na'ria will not resolve that.

I do not want for anyone to believe this is anything more than a farce for you to pilfer the Spire Shard that I imbued into Na'ria as though it was your birthright. That this is anything more than your ambition and interest thinly veiled under the banner of justice. If you cared at all for a just treatment of the accused, you might have established a tribunal under more equable terms as I once did decades ago. Instead, you arranged for a trial in secret, far from an audience that could bear witness to the bad faith with which you conducted yourself throughout the whole ordeal.

You refused Martyr's Vigil and Fortune a seat at the jury, despite their constituents and their sacrifices during the Crusade being every bit as great, if not greater, than ours. Knowing that their call would weigh in favor of life.

For that reason alone, we reserve every right to anull and void your verdict.

You preordained the trial and its outcome well before it, and well after it to justify your need for bloodshed. There is nothing in its factual development that paints you in a positive or righteous light.

Your invocation of Edward and Palade's deaths is morally repugnant. Using their sacrifice as a platform to further your agenda is nothing short of reprehensible. The parties most affected by their loss have all spoken and made their peace with Na'ria.

I was there when it happened; you were not.

Azalea and Carnation forgave Na'ria.

When their closest of kin have chosen magnanimity and healing over retribution, it should astound any that you could suffuse yourself with the audacity to claim authority on the exaction of their justice and speak on their behalf. If you truly cared for justice:

Where is the 500,000 bounty on Xarxes?

If you desire to be an insidious little whelp, so be it. Do not expect this escapade of yours to enjoy the recognition of those with the eyes and mind to spare. Aphros and her allies will not acknowledge your misplaced quest for vengeance in any official capacity. Of that I will personally ensure. Win or lose by perpetuating this crusade past its due, the truth is inalienable and conspicuous to the souls that care for it; history will remember you as the tyrant that tried to kill promise and progress to make up for his own individual failings. Seek contentment in your achievements, your real heroic deeds, before you blacken them in the books with this nonsense. The world will despise you, and unlike myself: they will be right for it.

These words I do not anticipate will reach you well. I write this not in a bid to sway your haywire heart or your mind, but for the third parties to whom this may concern and be exposed. But if you have ever set store by the value of my judgment, heed me now:

Look inwards and bring pause to this foolish forlorn romp. Rear your dragons, father your children. Boast the world for which the blood of our kin was sown, and reap of the brilliant fruits your refuse to appraise. Learn to live and love the family you have created--that so much you have earned.

Keep mine out of it.

You will not like me if I am forced to act.

Yours with compassion,
L. E

Word of the Trial´s outcome, and the extensive bounty, had reached not just The Goldlight Order, even with an exclusion of their participation in it, but with it the attention of the Pylaen Tribunal was drawn.
And at first, there was naught but silence,

Until the cascade of open letters began.

It took nearly a few weeks, before the first herald squad was deployed with its own batch of letters, not to deliver, but to append upon where The Order´s flyers still remain, all branded with that perhaps familiar coat of arms.

Quote:"To whom it may concern,

All inquiries regarding the latest 500,000 crown bounty, and if The Order shall seek to collect it, or regarding requests to hunt down the creature that was the Once-Imperfect of Skarnfel so that the cast judgement may be rendered, there is but one official answer that shall universally be given:

The Goldlight Order, despite its extensive and long-term participation in not just the Indefinitive Crusade against Skarnfel, but a past short-term history in fighting what was once the Demon King of Skarnfel directly, was not extended an invitation, nor requested, to be present for the trial of what remained of Na'Ria, and when a request was cast for such a thing to be allowed, a swift denial was the only response granted, at the behest of one of those actually invited to participate.
As such, The Order, with the moral judgement of its Tribunal for the Everyman, shall assume that one of the two Exarchs of Aegis did not see a need in our presence, and in the same capacity did not see a need for our cooperation in this endeavour.

And thus The Order rejects any judgement cast by this trial, for if it was truly important a representative would have been sought, and if it were truly just, all those that bled for the sake of the Crusades, and against the forces of Skarnfel, would have been invited.
In its place, the judgement of the Tribunal, and the Hope that it reflects, shall be the standard to which we conduct ourselves, until such a thing as a just and morally correct re-trial occurs.

For if our support and cooperation is not wanted in this endeavour, it shall be made clear that we shall follow those wishes, while remaining true in our aid for matters in which we were actually contacted and included in.

Actually worthwhile matters, that we have dedicated our attention upon, and cooperation towards.

The Grace of Hope is King and Queen.

This statement was brought to you, from the Desk of the Knight-Commander, with the approval of the Tribunal´s Hand of Hope."
