Upon those grassy fields, the wolf fought viciously. A contest had taken place between one's Holy against another's Occult,
It was then when the youth declared...

"You fight for your friends, I've heard it from one of your wolves before! You're like a family. I understand that because I value my family a lot... I love them."

The wolf paused, as if time itself had stopped.

 ". . I have no family, vermin . ."

It was then when a flurry of memories struck them at their core,
Of the past. Of the very distant past.
It was then when an elderly wolf looked down upon a youthful cub
A past long buried.

In that same instance, a flash of white scattered red.
It spread all throughout the fields,
The elder wolf beheaded, and now all that was seen from the wolf's viewpoint..
..Was an ancient demon, clothed in layers of white and silver.

Just as they looked in the past, their image remained the same
In place of the elder wolf, the young cub, now grown, glared upwards to the Sage
A large gash across their torso, almost enough to completely cut them in half.
In those moments, the wolf attempted to utter out in between pained breaths,

"Il...y...san...der..!"

Their thoughts rung out, but their body could not support such a declaration
If they spoke further, that would've been death, they'd be assured.
But in that moment, what they'd wanted to convey...

'With every figment of my being,       
                     I despise you, Ilysander.'

...Was left unsaid, the wolf's fiery gaze remaining steadfast
Even when near death, they kept their eyes on their objective.

Naught but moments later, the wolf stood in front of the Sage.

". . My Lord."

They bowed, yet their gaze beholden with malice.
The wolf lived, a new mark on their torso.

Refusing death, despite the odds.

Truly, Demons only live . . .
           . . . Through hate alone.
