"Okay, so shut me up if you've heard this one before—"
A knight of Meranthe was Sir Rowe,
served under the Bastion of olde Aphros, an unsung hero,
swore an oath to his Lord to defend the weak from invaders of Hel,

and, yes, that included the likes of Skarnfel,

defended many local towns though his feats small,

with his group of brave men, he died in honor of protecting us all.

Meet Treech, the percussion and writer of that sweet little diddy you just read. He was a diminutive and cheerful lil guy, once serving as bard and drummer as Sir Rowe lead his more capable men into battle.

But, duuuude, fate is wicked cruel. Like the song says, Sir Rowe and co. were killed in battle, Treech's spirit crumbled under the weight of that trauma. So much so that he fell into a vulnerable despair and was captured by the demonic victors to be tortured, twisted, and corrupted into a terrible and horrifying thing by witness accounts:

It's said that those who wander the field where Sir Rowe fell might find themselves spirited away into a messed-up echo of that battle. Where the pounding of Treech's drums rattle the victim's bodies and chills their souls. They come back a shell of their former selves, and are cursed to speak in rhymes for all eternity, just like in that brief song.

"...Now, from one bard to another, I want to merry pray, merry send, and merry exorcise ol' dude's soul to the afterlife proper! Time to 'round up some besties and do just that! "
