During the tumultuous times that wash across the continent, rumors began spreading through the remaining cities within Meranthe. Hushed whispers of something arriving within the country that should not be - a relic of power that hasn't seen the light of day in centuries. While its true purpose is lost to the annals of time, the relic still possesses great capabilities. Questions whispered behind closed door ask how it was brought to Meranthe, but nobody knows for certain. Some question the validity of the rumors, while others try to dismiss or squash them.
But one thing for certain, is there is a relic within Meranthe, and it calls out to a wielder.
Non-magi are deaf to these calls, as are lower tier magi. Those who manage to stumble upon it simply ignore its existence, as if it wasn't even there. To them, it was like a complete absence they rationalize it however their mind sees fit.
But to the potent magi, it calls to them. A sirens song promising power, an enticing offer to a magi no matter the era.
After sifting through countless rumors, you believe you manage to nail down the supposed location - a place where the artifact was being transported. Here, in the ruins of a caravan attacked by bandits the artifact lays, the magical seals prepared to keep the relic contained shattered. Waves of magic wash out from it in constant flux - like the oceans tide. It ebbs and flows, bringing in those it judges worthy, and washing away those who are not.
Beckoning those who seek power, and those it deems suitable to wield it, you find yourself approaching the rumored location of the caravan.
Wondering to yourself.
Is it too late to turn back?
