His Name Was Martin Luther
#1
In the wake of the events not but a night prior, a single man came to pin a long list of complaints on the massive front doors of Caethir's castle. Their name was Martin Luther; an informant of the Lord of Whispers, and they acted in tandem with several others throughout the city. The same missive was posted all over Caethir in places that people were most likely to see. This is what it read:

Quote:
We've been patient.

We've been civil.

We've tried to be understanding.

But our patience is not infinite and has finally reached its limits. We will not be silent any longer. Hear our list of grievances - the faults of the current government:

Acts of Tyranny
They are charged with multiple acts of tyranny; needlessly enforcing rank, overstepping royal court members and advisors, not including royal court members or advisors in decision making or discounting their input entirely, enabling unwarranted disrespect to advisors and royal court members, blatant refusal or outright dismissal of advice, and generally forgetting their place as King-CONSORT. Below are examples of these instances:
  • The King-Consort had to be argued with at length by Laura Lopus, Garret, and Seneschal to stop development of the casino. Laura described it as "talking to a brick wall" and stated several times she was being ignored when she answered his questions.

  • Crownmother Calanthe was ignored & treated dismissively when she gave advice to both the Queen & King-Consort after a lengthy discussion on their inadequacies surrounding concern for the citizenry & military's well-being.

  • Threatening & considering martial punishment to the duly appointed (Marigold Blackthorn) for general disagreement (a cruel and unusual punishment not befitting the "crime").

  • Not correcting younglings/outsiders of Noctua's rank during a disagreement, and enabling blatant disrespect towards someone who has given a tremendous amount of time, energy, and resources to Catheir. It is the duty of the crown to remind those below that even during disagreements, respect comes first. Period. Especially when the younglings in question are squires in the Azure order, and are expected to respect rank even if they dislike or disagree with the person who owns that rank.

  • Acquittal of an enemy of state (Vulkahn Folhammer) without proper trial or investigation (includes another count of misused funds as well, as they were used to help build the foundation of their religious architecture to no benefit of Caethir and her people); allegedly approved by Queen Odessa.

  • General collusion with Fel forces (regardless of their moral alignment). The crown has completely forgone the original spirit of Caethir (i.e., shunning any instances of necromancy, witchcraft, etc.) by permitting a lich to take residence in a garden purified through the toils of those who represent the Pantheon as their champions. Thus destroying prior endeavors done over several years, but also resulting in allegations by the citizenry regarding the King-Consort seeking out necromantic texts for unknown, concerning reasons.  This is in addition to generally mysterious or unclear acts obscure their true intentions despite their fervent claims. If Caethir is to become a necromancy-embracing state, there should be an announcement so all are aware to conclude to remain here or elsewhere.

Feigned Public Affection
General disregard for the people and their well-being; never helping or showing care after recent enemy strikes against our soldiers or citizenry. Below are examples of these instances:
  • Upon the return of an outing resulting in enemy engagement, the crown did not attempt to gauge the wellness of one Squire Ashley Pyre when they were clearly injured. Instead of healing him themselves, requesting aid from any other medics, or finding one in other cities, they decided to greet Stonehaven's leadership instead. When confronted about this altercation, Queen Odessa said, "Ashley always ran headfirst into danger" as a dismissal. It was a blatant disregard of their troop's safety.
  • Laura's attack right outside the Caethir gates by Estelle Beryl resulted in her permanent maiming, resulting in no action by the current crown.

  • Marigold's assault by a gremlin in the Caethir square resulted in another permanent maiming in addition to no action from the current crown to provide aid or resources; had to be healed by an Arcadian medical professional instead.

  • Aphasia (Poppylus's kitten) was captured by Ad Contra Deus, and (unsurprisingly not upholding the agreement Fleurosa made between herself and Camazura regarding the release of prisoners), they were taken. Marigold's grandchild led a failed retrieval attempt and was injured in the process. Lack of involvement from the crown resulted in Poppylus needing to abide by the ransom and procure three-hundred thousand coins to free their child.

  • It should be noted, that King-Consort Valentine has not once gone patrolling with the Azure Order and their forces in recent memory. Not once has he been forced to make a sacrifice for his people in the heat of battle, yet at the drop of a hat he was willing to sell his soul to a lich. Not only did he take their word as gospel, but he sacrificed his right to death for what was essentially complete strangers, when he has not done the same for his people in life! He essentially loosely signed the equivalent of a witch's contract with an undead entity. As King-Consort he is held to a higher standard than others, and any sort of ordered punishment was too light of a sentence given far too late after the crime was committed. There was no true accountability held.

Poor Sense of Priority
Deciding to make a gambling pit & undercity, of which objections were made. Objections took the involvement of outside intermediaries to break the stonewall for only one of these motions. Objections that ultimately were for naught, as the King-Consort went back on their given word to stop building the casino (for explicit details, refer back to example 2 under "Acts of Tyranny"). As to quote Valentine and their intentions with the undercity's gambling pits:

"If we are able to open the Undercity, we open to ensure a healthy population of Razuka to aid in the smuggling and- fighting, gambling, betting... you know."

They willfully intend to have a direct hand in promoting criminal activity in Caethir and turn the undercity project into a slum.

Lack of Organization
No channels to the transceivers add to inept communication between parties and limiting critical information sharing. They move independently from everyone meant to advise for or against their actions constantly, and give no insight to their plans or intentions. Their actions are spontaneous and done in the spur of the moment without any consideration for rank nor experience. They besmirch the offices below them by undermining their authority that bleeds into the infractions listed under "Acts of Tyranny".

Of course the letter reached the Once King, then again what didn't these days after such chaos.

The poor Birds in Caethir must be getting tired.

Herald by the bell, a small letter - if one could even call it that was offered.

There's so much to say but to say it here is a waste of time, I do loath letters.

I question why that you have said these things when it had not been brought to the Court itself, for the People of Caethir have always been allowed to speak upon such matters to the Crown. I would find it humors if this project of Caethir - this Undercity was my own creation but our dear Poppylus has been at the forefront since the very start.

Is this an excuse to try and muddle me? Could have said something about the snails at least...
I respect those who can speak words, annoyances and even their plights to my face.
Not upon a piece of paper.

Was my stepping down away from my Duties and King-Consort not enough? For what answers has not been answered already that was done upon the People and Court of Caethir.

I do look forward to our meeting, Martin Luther, lovely season for a Sinka Tea

For what good is Court if people cannot be heard?
