thousands of soldiers who overrun the duchy meet their end fighting in the white sands of the atoll, hundreds more captured by the forces of the delphinian superpower.
the North's charismatic leader is among the casualties. with his last breath, he lays a curse upon the enemy.
only a handful of its veterans succeed in fleeing the island's shores.
as word of the battle travels, the balance of the world's judgment is unclear.

a pamphlet distributed among the major cities describes the cause of the allied troops.

On a cold winter night, Seneschal informs Camino of the duchy's successful defense. Artist's depiction.

"Without a doubt, this march was the first battle against a Tyrant who by strum of harp frightens the world. Any who still upholds his will shall be known to all as the enemy of peace.

It is said he is a sensible King. And yet he waited for the moment when all of his peers that had denied him the throne had perished, secretly conspiring to overthrow the traditional system of Delphina to reign as its forever Dictator.

Acting through his allies in the Grey Church, he tried to topple the Pantheon and raise the Dreamer to take their place. He failed. He believed he could exterminate any threat to his sacrilege by sentencing the hero Kalione Meandersong to death and placing his loyal puppet to rule over the duchy that was his birthright. By the hammer of the Forgemaster, this too was brought to an end.

It is certain that this traitor against Humanity has obliterated the freedoms of this world's magi and wielding his dictation corrupted the laws of his adopted Kingdom. He has surrounded himself with the adherents of his lich-worshipping religion. In the multitude of his crimes, he has turned the greatest city into Meranthe into the singular property of House Caewynn. There is not one in Meranthe who would say they do not know of those executed in secret by his bloodied hand or questioned by the inquisitors through whom he chains all of humanity to his stupid proclamations. That innocents were among those sacrificed by his bloodlust matters not to him.

For the true leader of his armies is the lich Sareen.

The single greatest necromancer in the history of the world, responsible for multiple genocides - whose soul rests in the Black Pearl he hides inside his neck. What a marvel! In fact, to empower and spread the religion of his aide, he has dedicated artifacts of Kraus and Pylae as offerings to this Dreamer. He has spilled the blood of the young to become her hosts, devising a method for her to wear the flesh of corpses to avoid old age.

Yet still he continues in his crimes against the people, plotting the death of Vinaska and his domination over the entire continent.

This battle should not have had to happen. Camino could have accepted that no reign is forever and accepted that no individual can rule for more than a century as a tyrant who over mankind. It is true we have suffered a loss. But we have shown that the world sees through his hypocrisy. Do not be surprised when his supporters recycle stale arguments about redemption. Do not be surprised when they label us Fel. Freedom condemns him! History will condemn him! The deaths of our comrades were not meaningless! Be sure of this. We shall never we prostrate ourselves before him and beg for mercy, for we have proven that even the strongest of kingdoms can bleed.

It is Camino who chose to reprehensibly spread misery all across the world by clinging to power, to allow his own grandchildren to perish, to see the once fabled city of Martyr's Vigil reduced to rubble. He chose all of this because he is the strongest magi in the world, and he believes his strength gives him the right to rule over everyone.

Yet Camino can put a stop to everything.

We say to him again. Destroy Sareen. Abandon the throne."

bloodied but not defeated, the war to liberate humanity would continue.
for every reign shall one day come to a close.
how will posterity remember you?
