roleplaying with tragedy was exciting because you didn't know if they were going to take one word you said out of context and use that as an excuse to kill you
or just kill you anyway because 'lol demon i need POWERRRRRRR'
and there was nothing you could do about it because they developed shitloads of powers that no other character (except the other archons) could compete with. you dare want to fight back? have fun getting yeeted across the room by telekinesis while simultaneously taking a gazillion damage per second because someone thought it was a good idea to implement an aura that passively damages

'Exciting' is subjective. Some people find doing a bunch of dangerous fights and events exciting- rolling the dice for a chance at increasing their character's power. Some people are content with just going on dangerous events. Hell, for a lot of the community one dangerous combat is enough to get people nervous- see that one thread regarding getting nervous in RPBs.
As long as it's fun and/or 'exciting' for the one person, why complain?
