It had always struck me as strange how as time went on mother and father began to keep us in the house more often. I could see the suspicion in their eyes, the concern, the worry.

For some reason mom and dad always had more gold than anyone in the village and they started hiring guards. They would rather stay around our home than go with the peddlers!

And.. It only became worse after Armand died. Oh, Arry.. If only you could see what I can do. What we could have done together.

If they had not made that promise.. If they had not gone back on their word..

We got on a boat and went to this strange land where people's names were different.
  
Mom and dad told me Armand was a family name. Mine was too, but I never liked being called Vinny.

When my hatred for you waned, I found something in you that could be loved.
 
My naïve passion misled me, and it was only when I was given the clarity of a tranquil mind that I recognized how fortunate I was.
