A group of people who traverse the seas around Meranthe, known for their dense population of sea creatures and treasures.
The survival rate of the average mission is 1%. The life-expectancy of a Diver is 1 year after enrollment.
These are the people who bravely risk their life, be it for country or for profit. These are the Divers.
The Divers were founded in 1900AC, by a wealthy merchant who wished to discover the Lost City of Gold. Millions were poured into the project, and it became a rousing success, serving as legitimate competition for similar employers who offered tasks or bounties. And, yet, as time went on, and their numbers dwindled, very little success was actually found. To become a Diver was to risk your life, and many who had risked their lives had come out with poor pay in comparison to the risks they took. In 1905AC, only five years after the founding, the merchant was overthrown by a mercenary captain, Stryker, who took over the guild, and restructured it into the familiar expression they see today. They worked not by greed, but by brotherhood.
In 1925AC, the number of Divers had been slashed in half. Another five years down the line, their numbers were cut yet again. And yet, after several failed expeditions, and several barely successful ones, they had managed to discover something that had reignited the spark to move forward. A chest, filled gems, minerals, and goods that were enough to fund their continual search for several years to come. No one knows why the mercenary captain continued to lead the guild at minimal personal gain to himself. Some believed he was haunted by the ghosts of the crew he had lost sea-faring, while others believed him to have an infatuation with a siren he met after a near-death experience.
He would be left behind on a mission with this information never being known, and thus the last leader of the guild was dead, and their restructuring was complete.
Some say that the Mercenary Captain Stryker still remains in the sea, sitting within the Lost City of Gold and awaiting the return of his guildmates. Until then, the charting of Meranthe's depths continue...
1. To obtain something, you must, first, 'claim' it vocally. After that, it is yours, and other Divers are not able to claim it.
2. You must never kill another Diver while on a mission. Settling feuds outside of guild territory is acceptable.
3. You must never steal goods obtained on a dive into the depths. Doing so is treason.
4. The only thing worse than one dead Diver is two. Never go back for your fellow Divers.
5. Blood is thicker than wine. Never become smitten by loot.
6. Always ensure that your final will is kept up-to-date.
7. Always ensure that, if you are about to die, that you undo your dog-tags so that they may float to the surface, and be retrieved at the end of a mission.
8. Always attend funeral pyres for fellow Divers.
The Divers is a DM-ran guild that focuses on EXTREME-LEVEL DIFFICULTY EXPEDITIONS.
These expeditions take place on the ocean floor, and will never ever compromise in difficulty. Every single event posted here is an EXTREME CHANCE OF DEATH.

Players can choose to flee, but will not receive ANY LOOT as a result, and may be barred from further expeditions if they run too many times.
Loot will be balanced with this difficulty in mind. Each expedition will likely be a few hours long, leading into exploration and, eventually, a battle with several people.
These bosses will NOT be balanced according to your RPL, but rather have a set difficulty that will be indicated beforehand.
Extra loot rewards will be rolled for, while everyone receives a guaranteed drop or two for their participation.
PLEASE BE 100% SURE YOU WANT TO PARTICIPATE IF YOU SIGN UP FOR A LISTED EXPEDITION.
