The Grand Tournament
#1
For the first time this century, there is activity inside Realm Ten, a floor of the Tower of Aetius that is almost always closed off for generations at a time. In this space there is a massive coliseum in the centre, and a lone towering obelisk with ineligible, changing letters upon it, as well as numerous passages (most of which are sealed). The grand spectacle is surrounded by a calm ocean, and it is always daytime within.

As tradition in Meranthe, when a date materializes upon the obelisk it is a signal to send the best and brightest warriors to compete. Of the Realms, be it Aphros, Dal'thala, Vdalion, or a less known power, competitors will often wear the colors of their nation to bring glory and fame back home. It is typically a fight without death unlike the battles waged for conquest.

Of the rules, they are particular. They are enforced by the stone sentinels and the unseen force of the dimension:

➤A tournament of the current generation. No one over the age of thirty has appeared in the listings after writing their name.
➤Heads of state are also unable to join. The declared Champion cannot also be a King.
➤Do not harm your opponent to the point of loss of life. While mishaps may (and have happened) it can lead to disqualification if it could have been avoided.
➤Only humans may join(yes, this includes beastkin/drakanite/etc). Dragons, demons, and werewolves may watch but not compete.
➤Attempts at witchcraft are nullified and prevented...though perhaps poison may slip by.
➤Provoking hostilities (physical or otherwise) may warp you from the tournament if seen as severe.

The prizes are especially enticing, outmatching any tournament known to date. All top eight recieve a unique treasure, with the winner anointed as Champion of Meranthe, to bear the legendary weapon Claíomh Solais. In addition, there are also smaller prizes for competitors in general even if they do not place high. There is a banquet prepared and to be enjoyed by the spectators with quality rivalling the greatest of chefs, and a bounty of wine with grapes supposedly picked from the orchards of Vanaheim. A day to remember, whether competing or otherwise.

DATE: Sometime next weekend. To be scheduled closer to the time, and signups will occur roughly an hour prior.

This is scheduled for Sunday 5PM EST, as this appears to be the date the majority are available for.
Let me know here if there's anything I should be aware of in advance here. For example, if you might be late and would prefer a matchup later into the first bracket. This is NOT a sign up form; the sign ups will be posted an hour or so prior to the tournament.

The Grand Tournament ends with Mikhail as the Champion and bearer of the legendary weapon Claíomh Solais. In his victory speech, the Champion swears to purge Meranthe of its ills, whether you're with or against him. A number of extremely powerful relics were also won, scattered across the nation now.

1 - Mikhail (FINAL FRONTIER)
2 - Galahad Avincus (AEN)
3 - Deva Valmonte (APHROS)
4 - Seth Valmonte (DAL'THALA)
5 - Isolde (AEN)
6 - Lugh Kaehler (APHROS)
7 - Orphee (VDALION)
8 - Isley (AEN)

OOC - Much thanks to Novella & co for handling all of the item design and set up, and Radio for organizing the brackets!

The Grand Games
Not quite as spectacular as the titular Grand Tournament, these are infrequent contests that aren't as large as the main event given the limited prize pool but do attract combatants. The next is to be hosted Saturday 5PM EST.

The bearer of Claíomh Solais may not compete. It is tradition that they face the winner in a friendly bout, however.
➤Do not harm your opponent to the point of loss of life. While mishaps may (and have happened) it can lead to disqualification if it could have been avoided.

Prizes include top 8 unique rewards, raffled trinkets and coin.
