The sun was setting over the horizon of the open ocean, casting a warm orange glow across the sky. The sea sparkled in the fading light, lapping gently against the shore; it was a peaceful evening, a paradise but for one man - Who saw it as anything but.
-
His name was Captain Jameson, a renowned explorer and adventurer. He had sailed the seas and discovered the most remote corners of the Meranthe, yet he knew his greatest adventure was yet to come - He had heard from his fathers mouth, which came from his grandfathers tongue, of a legendary flying ship, said to have been built by pioneers of the past. The ship was said to have the power to soar through the skies, defying the laws of gravity as it slowly maneuvered to places its captains' heart desired.
-
Now, Jameson had spent years researching and searching for clues about the flying ship, but all he had to show for it were vague references and ancient drawings - Some pointed towards what was once known as Port Fortune, when it was more akin to a pirate bay under Stede Vane. Other sources suggested the ship was neatly tucked away somewhere within the Frontier.
-
He had almost given up hope, until one day, he received a mysterious letter, yet with a familiar sigil of the Equisols pressed against its wax. The script was from an old friend, a young man who had stumbled upon Jameson when he was feeling particularly low-down; the captain opens the letter with a coy grin, wondering just what scheme Erasmus had cooked up in their time away from each other.
-
The letter was short and cryptic, yet it was enough to ignite a spark of excitement in Captain Jameson - Eras and a man with the family name Prithvi, were now searching for blueprints. A means with which to create their -own- ship, of similar if separate design, to use as a colossal moving city in the sky of sorts.
He knew this was his chance to finally uncover the secrets of the flying ship for himself, and, with some level of luck, perhaps even finally have the chance to Captain this new ship when all was said and done. Without a moment's hesitation, he gathered his crew and set sail towards the coordinates given in the letter.
-
If all were lost? He would likely lose no small amount from this venture, up to and including the coinage he was forsaking to take this request.
-
If all went well? A flying ship, flying across the whole of Meranthe, with himself at the helm!
For the first time in what felt like years? The Captains heart was contented.
