Woah, an article of the Quill Chronicle?!

Quote:
Interview: Xuefeng on the Deathwind Fleet

Xuefeng's Lady Regent has recently taken a worried note of the re-arising threat of necromancy on the continent.

She asks of any nations equipped and willing to deal with Vyldrax's fleet once and for all.

"The Deathwind Fleet is far from the first product of necromancy to rise within Meranthe.
They care for little but what meets their ends and
seemingly do most anything to further themselves."

The Deathwind Fleet has kidnapped many notable magi, selling them off for coin.

Recent reports reveal they are also responsible for the killings of several construction workers.

"What needs to be done is quite simple, it's the same answer as what's always been done in the past.
A strike against their island, a blow against their captain, it will spell their end.
But as long as he remains more undead will continue to rise."

"The longer Captain Vyldrax is allowed to work without interruption, the more dangerous he will come to be.
Soon enough he will see his claim onto the islands surrounding him and an invasion into Fortune or the Traverse accomplished."

In recent months they attempted to invade the Kingdom of Fortune.

"The 'Republic' seems to believe this threat is too large for any of them to handle, despite the losses the Fleet took in their last invasion.
Instead do they think places like Midpoint need their immediate and full attention, all five historied nations within turning their forces upon young merchants.
Not a single is able to turn their magic upon the Fleet."

"If you're to believe half of Meranthe's living history is needed to deal with a Madavayanna Gregoris, then stop and look at the results again."

The Deathwind Fleet is said to have raised fortifications on the Island of Korcula, just south of Nilhirra.

"The world is more interested in aligning against a city and bringing everyone to war rather than using their allied forces to deal with real threats.
Instead would they ask a nation who's army consists of children between the ages of twelve and fifteen to march to war against the necromancer,
quoting their inability to do so the reason it can't be dealt with now - Xuefeng's inability to fight them being their excuse."

"Such things are disheartening and speak volumes.
A necromancer is a necromancer, and should be treated accordingly - and swiftly, unless we desire another Xarxes."

Interview: New Tavern in Arcadia!

A new tavern is gaining popularity in Arcadia.

It has been titled 'The Grazing Ram', and comes with a powerful slogan!

"Where every drink is a Shepards Delight!"

It was opened by Boyde Vandre, a wolken of Arcadia.

"Well honestly..? I saw that there was a lack of... well... things to do in Arcadia!
The most my people have been doing ever since we've gotten here is work, us Wolken have only recently returned to Meranthe,
so I thought it'd be nice for not only my kin to get a break but meet new people and teach them about us too!"

They will be holding a grand opening for The Grazing Ram soon and most if not all Wolken will be present!

New articles?!

It is rumoured the last draft was followed by the collapse of the selkie.

"She slept for three days straight!" complained editor Berry.

She's definitely missing intel on a specific event.

"Send over all your crazy stories!" yelled Berry from the window of the unmanned office.

Bite-sized Insights: Nomul's Intelligence

Nomul is a hunter of all things foul, and an exceptional combatant.

The goblin has decided to share some of his insights on the beasts he has fought.

"Agrona is growing daily. They are a fire Kaor Demon, and may be a native demon but it is seen mostly with Atrellya.
Nomul has reports that they have a factory of sorts that looks like a toy that makes demons."

"Vyldrax is a strong fighter that mostly casts from range with a horde of undead.
He is not to be underestimated, but Nomul feels he has reached his peak."

"There is a snake demon that has gained a human form, different to an Imperfect demon but it has a blade from their kaor body all the same.
They use fire and explosion magics with a mixture of physical elements. Nomul believes it still has room to grow."

"There is a magical beast which looks like a Lizardman and has the skills of an earth skurn.
It has been robbing people on the road. Because they are a robber they do not care for their target.

Nomul believes it will be a threat soon if not handled."

"Vyldrax's first mate Manasseh has mastery over metaphysical magics, namely control over gravity.
They were a close fight for Nomul, but they failed to overcome."

The Deathwind Fleet: An interview with Grey and Junnodem

"Vyldrax nearly slew Marfons, were it not for Garret's intervention.

They invaded our home with express intent to murder dear Rio.
That is when they crossed from a nuisance to a cancer.
They need to be wiped out, and quickly."

"I find it very discomforting that the nations moved so quickly against myself, and yet seem so sluggish to move against Vyldrax."

"Any time a necromancer is killing a lot of Magi himself, is a very large red flag. They grow far faster than many people realize."

"He should've been stamped out immediately before he ever got this far. Ignoring him was stupid.

Recklessly, impossibly stupid, for nations well and truly familiar with exactly how dangerous a single necromancer can become in very short time."

"The Deathview Fleet.

"It wouldn't have mattered if they were undead, or Kraus' chosen, they're coming for my family.

That's where I draw the line in any regard."

"Fortune hasn't done a thing wrong, it's just another opposition to lose things to, and mourn because of."

"When you ask about those who would pluck from the lifestream and the stars- bad."

"Do I think they're always bad people? Look at Grey."

"Of course I don't. Does that sometimes justify the art? No, never."

A Forlorn Yesterday: Insights into Grey's past

"... It is a cruel thing. I had the best intentions, and even still I was not tolerated, for the very act itself is an injustice."

"I started the path of the necromancer a long, long time ago, around... 17 years or so ago.
I thought, 'so many people are being hurt,' and if I learned it I could just... raise an army, crush the night creatures, Atrellya, sweep them all aside.

Nobody had to suffer or die for it."

"I stepped back because I met a few very, very good people... I realized I couldn't just throw my life away like that, not while they were here."

"For a little while it actually worked.
The undead were fighting the enemies I wanted them to, but the price wasn't worth it.

It was hurting the people I loved."

"I couldn't bear to see that little draka-knight cry, and raise her sword against me... On top of all of it, Garret showed me I'd betrayed my own principles.
I was cruel to the undead simply by having made them, even if one loved me as a father, and so I stopped."

"I stepped back.

When I realized just how useless it was at protecting the people I cared about,
I banished it from myself... and turned to follow a better example."

Interview: Shiri Shi Shigenobu

Londo's Aftermath

"The attack by Atrellya against the royal family of Londo is a constant reminder of the true evil our enemies are capable of."

"I spoke with Diallos and the Princess of Londo Gwyndolyn and they alerted me that donations of gold would assist them.
I realised this coincided with our plans within Fortuna to send support to Londo, but it seems that support hadn't arrived yet.
So that was remedied in another way."

"Midpoint's donation though heavily encouraged by us, ultimately was a result of true concern for their neighbour,  I certainly would not like to detract from that."

"We encourage all city states to donate to Londo during this time to facilitate it's reconstruction, and set a minimum of 20,000 Crowns.

The onus is upon you to do your part to support the war against the Fel and it's aftermath!"

The Deathwind Flee

"Deathwind benefits from Midpoint's disposition against the Republic, even if Midpoint does not support the Fel, they are no doubt helping advance it's efforts.
Because this makes us all weaker against Atrellya's impending invasion."

"This is bad for all of us, Atrellya will march soon, a genocide just happened within Londo,
Korcula is being overrun by undead, not to mention those who have been captured, butchered, or worse.

We need Unity."

A strange notice has been haphazardly appended to The Quill and Tavern's doorframe.

Quote:Notice of Absence

"Good day Berry. I realise you are one of my newest hires, but I have a message I need you to share.
I have felt spiritually spent as of late but have been enlightened about a curiously large region of spiritually-cursed timberland.
The nearby villages and residents of the local lagoon have been under haunting's duress, and thus I have decided I will lend unto them Her song.

They have promised me good tea.

I do note this absence is rather abrupt a thing, and there are ties that bind me here, especially to Nereides.
I will ensure those that need me most are informed on how they might contact me while afar,
and have entrusted the temple to one of the smaller Priestesses for a time.

Should my countrymen ever feel like calling on me, I will return to their side as quick as an oil lamp's flick.

I am sure I will not be too heinously long, and have hired a band of merry men and women to accompany.
If any Prospera debt collectors ever start knocking, tell them to take the proceeds from my concert ... I will be sending
a much-required replacement.

I promise
she will not disappoint."

(OOC: I am extremely burned out, but if you would like a scene DM me. I'll run the event tomorrow and then AFK!)

One FINAL notice slaps itself in front of The Quill Chronicle & Tavern's door!

Quote:
Hello there, my name is Berry Rosecoral!

As you know from tonight's festivities, I am both a performer and editor for Lady Melionette!

She has sent me a highly important letter, please read it!

"Dor'alanor Berry, I trust you have been keeping The Quill well and alive,
I do hope you forgive me for the paperwork you will now have to suffer through alone.

I have decided that The Quill, as I reach the ripe age of forty-one,
is in need of a more sprightly horde of news gatherers!

If you would reach out to the wider world in search of willing,
budding writers
with a pure enthusiasm, I would be forever grateful."

Lady Melionette invites any aspiring writers to apply through a special template!

We will have these forms available for collection in The Quill & Chronicle Tavern, just ask the waiters!

She would be very happy if one day someone were to inherit The Quill and keep it alive!

There's a new rendition of The Quill --- wait a minute.
Who wrote this? Is this a trainee's work, or something more?

Recent sightings in Atrellya saw a strange ritual occur!

There was a ritual to turn people into demons like Lykon!

They transformed someone into a demon that looked just like Lykon!

It is said the webby, foretelling spider 'Shiki' wants to one day undergo such a ritual!

Rumours also suggest 'Shiki' involves themselves with Atrellya and is a demon!

They might also like to eat people's mana.

Nyctorre is a metal that eternally tortures a soul within it.

Weapons with nyctorre are powered by suffering.

The soul can be saved by severing the binds or breaking the metal.

The metal is black and very obviously effects the lifestream around itself negatively.

Weapons made with the metal are very repulsive as a result.

Many witches and warlocks have artifacts that can put you into soul-binding contracts!

These are very, very evil artifacts. And these are very, very evil contracts.

An example is a book of shadows, which you sign with your name or in some cases blood.

When this contract is completed, your soul is usually bound to Hel or one of it's evils.

This means when you die you will go to suffer in Hel or serve in the name of a cruel creature's will.

It is very, very, very, very hard to undo these, and costs a lot.

You could retrieve the piece of your soul bound to Hel from Helheim, sever the piece of your soul, or undergo other measures that help lighten the weight on your soul and help it return to the natural cycle.

Do not sign odd books or sign odd contracts that offer you things too good to be true!

A very succinct BREAKING NEWS article is posted on the front page of The Quill's next issue.

Quote:
The trial of Aaliyah Tal

At the beginning of the trial the jury member chosen by Midpoint was checked through a divination ritual.

The jury member, Eloise Loire, was confirmed a witch, confessed this to be true and was arrested.

The trial of Aaliyah Tal then proceeded, with the jury delivering the sentence:
.
In a vote of 6 to 3,
Aaliyah Tal was given the sentence Penance.
Dal'thala, Prospera and Xuefeng representatives voted for Execution.

"Many were of the opinion that she had to
work her sins off in service of the greater good."

"The rest is yet to be decided.
Her overall goal however is to help aid the combat against
the undead in different ways,
 from creating wards to weapons."

After the proceedings contentions broke out, with individuals stating their disagreement.

The undead of Aaliyah Tal, due to be cleansed by the remnants of Solais, was attacked due to this angerment.

a new artical on your favirote news paper
Quote:It is the year 2134 and our land, the little- well, not so little Land of Meranthe is currently under threat of Demon Invasion from the North.

Many cities can be seen building up and training soldiers. Be it magi or non-magi.

The cities especially on our Northern end are being reinforced and the soldiers are on edge.

Then there is our land's issue of East and West, conflict - a conflict which tore the land in half, bringing with it conflict and tension.

Rumours are that people do worry that this East and West conflict will have an impact on the defense of Meranthe as a whole, some worrying that it can cause in-fighting mid-invasion.

On the other matter, alliances and bonds are being made. Dunsman the Sage of the Sand is creating a warband of magical beasts to aid the land to fight the Demons.

The Community of Nightview has set up several mobile kitchens and are preparing a good, nutritious war meal, or GWR for short.

Currently cooking up two menus and stockpiling the meals to be shipped out soon to supply the armies of the Nation of Meranthe against the invasion.

"A happy soldier is a strong soldier. A good meal can make him happy." said Nera.

SHIP-BUOY: TROUBLE ON THE WATERWAYS

In a recent uptick of unrest, banditry and attacks on the central Meranthe river have increased.

After a chance brush of tragedy, a contingent of seven merchant ships have crashed grievously into one another, blocking the waterways.

"It was a Leviathan from the depths!" said a local Blacksmith.

"This guy is stupid, it was clearly a party of stupid, good-for-nothing, godforsaken bandits!" said a local Baker.

The culprits have yet to be found, but a word of warning clearly echoes in the aftermath: beware the central river.

Who will solve this horrible mystery?
