Your father-mother is a self-declared knight who lives in a cave, the same cave your egg will have been incubated in. Some know it as an all-loving, self-sacrificing hero fixated on delivering Justice-- And many don't know it exists at all. It is currently busy on the warpath, against the Atrellyan invasion and any other "villains" targeting the roads.

Hounskull will have done its best to educate you in the very basics of reading and writing, and on the DEEPEST ethics of standing up to defend others. You've likely been made a kind of informal foster child to a human family, to ensure your safety and adjust you to "civilized" living. Your Father-Mother will have visited often, to check on your health and ensure that you at least seem to be walking the "righteous path", though it can't remain for long due to bouts of "confusion" when exposed to high densities of humans, a trait it hopes a childhood among humans might prevent in you. 


Your purpose hasn't been hidden from you, nor the existence of your siblings throughout the world. Your purpose is to grow up as strong, intelligent, dutiful citizens, free of the occult influence that doomed your forefathers to lives of hate and evil. If you find yourself able to play a greater part in building and maintaining a righteous world, that's good-- But what's most important is that you live, and prove your species both capable of civilized living, and worthy of respect.

FOSTER FAMILY #1: THE UEDAS

You’d spawn in Gloomlight as early as 2117 AC (equivalent of 10 human years old, ask Hounskull for deets on how that all works) as one of THREE possible little Hounskulls raised in a distinctly unusual family. Human, magical beast, and Agarthan demon role models abound within your large circle, and what your home lacks in normality it makes up for in affection.

Your Foster Father: Matthew Ueda

Skills: Reading Manga, Fighting, “Unreality Lasers”?

Your foster father’s a singular figure, well-known for his single-minded dedication to combat and Shenghese culture (no, he’s not Shenghese, why do you ask?) 

Gloomlight’s self-professed Shinobi of Unreality, he’s much more comfortable with his fists than his wits, but has managed to rack up a distinguished record of service as a Bastion Knight for the better part of two decades. 

While he can be absent-minded and lazy around the household, he’s an affectionate parent who’s embraced his new little Hounskulls with open arms.

Especially if any of them want to become teenage mutant ninja beetles, an ambition he will shamelessly and openly encourage.

Your Foster Mother: Kaya Ueda

Skills: Medic, Cooking, Dropping Sick Burns

Your foster mother’s the heart of the family, in many ways. A kitsune originally from a small village in Sheng, she came to Meranthe several decades ago with her now-deceased twin sister Kiri Ueda.  She spends much of her time at home keeping the household together, or at the Twilight’s Respite Tavern in Gloomlight, her personal project. 

Profoundly nurturing, she’s a caring mother without being an exceptionally indulgent one – and she’s also got a strong sense of justice and a wicked sense of humor. Only a fool gets on the bad side of Kaya Ueda. 

(You, being her adopted kids, are unlikely to see that side of her unless it’d be in your defense.)

Whatever you want to be, Kaya’s likely supported you without hesitation… But she’s probably encouraged you to be thoughtful about your opinions, and develop your own sense of what’s right and wrong alongside Hounskull’s lessons.

Your Foster… Parent?: Loramelian Ueda

Yes, you have THREE foster parents. (At this point, their triad marriage is old enough news people in Gloomlight at least don’t tend to bat an eye.)

Loramelian, your frequently gender-swapping parent, is a high-strung, somewhat haunted figure, with highly artistic sensibilities and a troubled past. A Faeborne, they look noticeably younger than your other parents, despite the weight of responsibility they wear visibly on their always-tired face. Physician, psion, alchemist, Wayfinder, spiritmancer… you name it, your father/mother studies it (and is probably off somewhere doing something related to it right now). That said, when they’re around, they’ll move mountains for you – if Matthew’s the parent you’d turn to for protection and Kaya for comfort, Loramelian’s likely the one you can count on to handle most anything else.

And if you’re interested in anything scholarly? They’ll be the first to support that direction. Even if you’re not, they’ve probably pushed you toward getting a pretty extensive education on top of the foundation Hounskull laid.

Your Extended Family

You’d have two older human siblings in their mid/early teens, at least one of whom is likely to be a PC soon. But that’s about as normal as your very weird family gets…

Your three cousins, Kousei Prithvi, Rudra Prithvi, and Mitsuki Prithvi, are the sons of Kiri Ueda and the djinn Dyaus Prithvi. While none live in Gloomlight, Mitsuki’s a frequent visitor and 
Kousei occasionally swings by.

Much of Gloomlight would be some kind of informal extended kin to you, with your family well-established as part of the city. In particular, though, Na’Ria, the Archon of Knowledge, former Imperfect Demon, is something of a grandmotherly figure through her relationship with Loramelian. (You may or may not be close to her, though, given her largely secluded 
lifestyle.)

What’re we looking for?

Somebody - up to 3 somebodies - chill and fun who likes the idea of telling a story about being a little Hounskull raised to build bridges between disparate worlds. While you’d start in Gloomlight, you’re not required to stay there. You can go whatever direction RP takes you (even if it includes a heartbreaking Fel traitor arc where between 1 and 4 of your parents have to eventually murder you). 

Main or alt is fine!

What’s in it for you?

RP! Kaya is largely retired, but Matthew and Loramelian are very active and well-entrenched in Gloomlight’s social scene, and are happy to ease your way into RP.

Resources! You’re not looking at full nepo baby status here, but you’ll have plenty of help with things like boosters and EQ if you stick around. Anyone interested in going the route of a 
metaphysical medic has potential to inherit some pretty nifty RP tools, too.

Dev! Whatever you’re interested in, Loramelian can probably help you dev it, pending only that you understand there’re limits to time and energy…

Sparring! …and Matthew will definitely spar with you as many times as you need to get yourself into combat shape.
