The Beginning(Gluttony's Maw Vs. Delphina [Pekeo District])

From The Maw, an unsettling feeling crept down the spines of anyone unfortunate enough to be nearby, and not long after this an announcement had been made.
Quote:
"When The Maw fell into my grasp, I made it clear, I'm not the sort to repeat the actions taken by the people of the past. I extended a hand, offering a chance to show that I do not wish to be like them.
an opportunity to end things and turn over a new leaf.
Many wished for the tree to dealt with, and I've never stopped anyone from making an attempt.
Yet, amid the chorus of voices calling for change.
to purge the tree and defeat Ustrea once and for all, only one dared to step forward.

One man amidst a sea of hollow promises.

The whispers of discontent within my head grow louder with each passing day.
I offered olive branches, but you fashioned them into arrows aimed at my heart.
How long did you think I would stand idly by?
Watching as you trample upon everything we sought to build?

You may think me a fool, but know this, I am the holder of my own story, and I refuse to be shackled by the chains of your oppression, not just from you, but ANYONE who tries to hold me down.
The blood of my ancestors flows through these veins, a legacy of defiance that did not end with me.
Not while I carry the name Dominic.

I've grown weary of walking down the path of peace.
Tired of suppressing the fire within to cater to those lost in their fervor.
The transgressions against Tandava were very bad...
but to abduct my kin, my sister, the one companion who stood by my side since my first day as The Castle's Lord- it's a an action that cuts deeper than anything I've ever dealt with before.

For a year, I held back from doing anything, seeking resolution without bloodshed.
And in that year, I've been met with nothing but silence, not even a wisp of a response.

But your silence speaks volumes, your defiance towards me sounding like a deafening roar.

Now, the reckoning is upon you. I know this path leads to the abyss I sought to avoid, but when pushed to the brink, what choice remains? You pluck fruit from a tree not your own, blind to the storm brewing within.

And from that storm,
ARISES A CALAMITY."

In the absence of any triumphant leadership force, Ria, Maliyah and Melionette not gracing those seaweed-strewn sandbanks for a time, you would think Nereides would slink into quietude as though a gently ebbing sea.
And yet, it is not answerless to the cries in the distance, for while Sirenia come from the deepest sea, the longest valleys and the most beautiful houses of sprawling coral, Delphina was it's home - just like the ocean in of itself! Crafted by Maliyah's toil, the High Priestess of Yama - it, as an extension of Dal'thala - owes it much and more.
While diminutive in it's dominion, many Sirenia begin to prepare their arms. Tridents are poised, polished and sharpened - weighted, barbed, classic and ceremonial. Like Yama in his steadfast defence of the ocean's vastness, they would defend the place that has offered for countless years the warm hearth of protection and homeliness.
And from atop a certain mermaid statue that lie within it's eastbound plaza, a small child wearing a hat reminiscent of a seal makes an announcement to the crowd:

Quote:
"Um... M-Miss Melionette isn't here to give an official response...
B-but, I think she would... approve of what I want to say, um...

C-Camino can be scary sometimes-- really scary. But he.. he has a good heart. I'm sure he had his r-reasons.
A-and thanks to his kindness in helping th-the High Priestess of Yama, and M-Meli'li, our kind had a place above Dal'thala long b-before we had The Traverse...
A-and...

Nereides will... help defend, should it come to it."
Onlookers note that a giant whale child is standing behind the smaller selkie, looking confused and scared. A few of the other Sirenian children that Melionette had taken in seem to stand at the smaller selkies' side. War is no place for children, however, despite the official claim of Nereides rising in defense of the Pekeo District.

Regardless, many of the older Sirenia that call Nereides home will war in their stead.

Dal'Thala, capital of Delphina. An old city with lessons learned sorely by foes past, and sagely by Faeborne ingenuity. A rich city, and not only by its culture as is so famed. For all the barricades offered by Man's own designs and the rather favorable landscape, it is a place fortified by a rather curious set of systems. Unnoticeable in the day-to-day, until either the subtle signs of trouble rear their head - or the tactless proclamations of magi which so often herald an assault. On an eerily quick whim, the very city itself awakens as a thing able to obstruct and distort the very layout of its garden avenues and scenic parkways through complex illusory and etheric runeworks. As if a living will existed to hamper any intrusive forces, bending their surrounds like a vexatious maze. A deadly maze, when properly capitalized upon by any standing Elzara more familiar with the inclinations of such a sophisticated defense.

As one of those proclamations go made, and all information leads to a far more overt and destructive form of assault, it is rumored the Lumin King had but quietly stared off, tapped softly against his chin for a moment or two, before with a faint hum noting, then ordering:

Quote:"That is unwise on many accounts. Pay the malice in kind, and seize advantage on the fact that without even a slight touch of glamour they have already lost sight of any more sensible, realistic goal they could have."

That much, sufficient to see the mechanisms of a nation spin into action. In lieu of more subtle and precise avenues, the forces of the Maw will be greeted by a city  high alert, the snare already set to stymie and dizzy their wantonly ruinous intent. Overt, indiscriminate...
