A Sermon In His Name

Perhaps you were not expecting to receive it. Perhaps it was left on your windowsill, by a pale white bird with glassy eyes and tattered wings. Perhaps a limping dog, its ribcage exposed and its foreleg mangled, dropped it off at your feet, before padding back off into the wilderness. Perhaps you found it, amidst the desolation of cropland, tar and muck where there was once verdancy and life.

A scroll.

Unfurling it, it reads as follows.

Quote:"Those who read of this, know that you are blessed. Blessed to know of me. Of my works."
"I am the Prophet of Azrael. I am the Dove, come to bring His message. I am a practitioner of His gift, the Art of Preservation."
"And I am willing to share to you this gift. I am willing to share with you the story of His tragedy."
"The tale of the First Hero of Mankind. He who denied the angels their dominion over we children of Eternia."

"He who loved us. Who fought to save us."
"To save us all."
"The Morninglord. Azrael. The Rebel Against Heaven."

"If you desire to hear tell of him, his works, his goals, his sacrifice, his Art..."
"I bid you, write to me. Write to Dove. Let me guide you unto His light. Show interest, and it will be answered."
"Let not the servants of Kraus-the-Betrayer deceive you. Let not the fetters of this imperfect world hold you."
"His light will shine the way to our paradise."

"Soon, a sermon I shall hold."
"Ye who desire to hear, be there. I will speak of my Lord's will."
"Of what he desires."

"Those who would hear His Prophet speak, I bid you, be there."

This message, equal parts pious and deluded, has found its way to many peoples' hands, and likely been passed around further from there.

The sender? Mysterious, past their alias. But any who desire to know more...

...well, they know where to write.

And they who write, may learn where to be.

Quote:"All of you. I will save all of you. It is my duty. My obligation."
"I need to. I need to. If one can do something to help another, are they not obliged to do so? If I can save your lives, defy the deaths that haunt you, am I simply supposed to sit idly?"
"I am the Prophet. I am the Voice. I am the Saint."
"And I have brought salvation alongside me."

As the funeral pyre of Ysayl dul Vique burnt, a flare of necromantic energy burst out from the caves alongside Arcadia. Inside, sat amidst the deepest depths of the cavern, stood Aaliyah Tal, the self-proclaimed Prophet of Azrael, alongside a small army of undead and other practitioners. Morningstar, borne of a seed of darkness originally sprouting from the early days of Arcadia, has flourished into a problem.

...even moreso, is the fact that she survived the day, her undead fighting against those who came to oppose them and claiming their bloody tithe in so doing.

Now, there is only the question of what this fallen exorcist has next planned.

Wait and see, Meranthe. Wait and see...
