Extinction (Certain Death)
#11
[Image: image.png]

Past the cliffs of Gakaiyo and upon the waves return the ships which had once set off to Sheng, carrying the Shogun and her small traveling party. Though, ships that once carried few now were bustling with soldiers and supplies. Ship which boasts the a phoenix upon its figurehead hosts three well decorated generals of Sheng and sailing alongside them, their battalions.

The generals and their many soldiers find home within Xuefeng in the approaching invasion, well dressed and prepared for war, Sheng arrives to show their support. Yet, it is not Sheng which comes alone.

Its screech is heard through the streets of the Empire as a phoenix of black feathers and even darker flame circles above the ship which hosts the Shogun and her traveling party. The song it sings is accompaniment of flute, played by Heavenly General who stands shoulder-to-shoulder with all the others. It comes to perch upon wooden railing, staying near the song and answering its call.

The symbol of the Empire and its great weapon has been retrieved, but another force added to the forces which look to oppose the Fel.

Within Meranthe, another force grows, it awakens. A monster ascends to call themselves Lord. An ally to the Empire, Efespane leads the forces of Meranthe's magical beasts to defend the northern front against the invading forces of Atrellya alongside Dunsman S. Virdi and their coalition.

As the Hollow World opens upon the peaks of Pavonis, the prisoners summoned by Lord Shiva are returned to the chains of Ualdir and the sentencing of the Pantheon. Their radiance smiles upon their followers, their blessing carried with the forces of Aegis.

With all of the coming forces, the Ruby Empire builds defenses of their own. Materials are gathered through the years with the people of Xuefeng clearing the nearby mines and the Aegis hauling wood from nearby forests. Warcamps are abuzz with work as well as news as more and more forces pile in. At the docks, shipbuilders prepare more sea worthy vessels, made to house the newly arrived soldiers and defend the cliffs of the Empire.

Within the Shogun's own abode diplomats from many nations come and go, including those of the Republic. But nearly all are turned away. All except for one Miriam Equisol, who finds herself invited personally. The two are seen shaking hands and coming to an agreement. And soon after, a small force from Gloomlight arrives. Sent by none other than the Oracle, Thomas Equisol. A gift from family.

Many meetings, and many letters are extended between the newly formed empire of Gakaiyo and Gloomlight with its newly invested Oracle.
Many are not aware of the work behind the scenes, and why would they be?

Gloomlight works diligently to secure its own supplies with a growing treasury of items to ensure its own troops are well equipped,
capable of handling the Atrellyan invasion either at home or from afar. But that is not the only thing that happens.
With the successful meeting of the Oracle's secretary, Miriam Equisol, it's confirmed:

One thousand troops are sent to reinforce Gakaiyo's border from the demonic invasion. A gift from family, with the hope of a better future.

Troops and gatherers are continued to be encouraged to donate to the quickly growing treasury of items for the defense of Gloomlight should it come to that at last, from ores both common and uncommon, and basic materials such as stone and wood.

Right after Svengalf's speech within the Carnation District, the Commoners from the village-like extension were gifted from the Radiant's of Life own fundings and reserve to supply the local artisans. An incentive after a  speech of encouragement to aspire that even non-magi and commoners alike also have an important role in the incoming invasion. Such battle is not only won from the tips of the spears clashing against flesh, fur, and scales. But it is also a matter of preparation, morale, and mutual solidarity. The pen may not be mightier than the sword, but it surely drew the plans to make the perfect blade.

It was one "small" favor the Radiant of Life would ask from his remaining followers. While the Frontier has been rising towards a proper Technocracy, Svengalf has been a long living standing influence through the years, almost living there for 80 years soon. While the interests of the Proto-Institute have shifted in comparaison to previous directors, there were still a few of supporting followers through his ideologies.

Therefore, an attempt is made to empower the production of the Carnation District to prepare for the invasion. Smiths, Tailors, Masons, Carpenters, Cooks and other sorts of artisans and workers are preparing better equipement for the regular soldier, along with fortications, and prepare food supplies for any potential siege. All of this effort, in an attempt to empower the warriors who will defend the Frontier, but also their neighbours and friends of Arcadia, who house the legacy of Azalea, another long loved figure of the Faith in the Frontier.

Svengalf Sandsker provides the following contribution to the Carnation District, extension of the Final Frontier :
  • 30'000 Influence
  • 50'000 Coins
  • 4'000 Wood
  • 300 Leather
  • 3500 Cylion (For fibers, cloth and alike, to make padded armor for everyone who does won't have any metallic protection)
  • 1'000 Iron
  • 800 Copper
  • 1'200 Adamantite
  • 100 Mythril
  • 100 Orichalcum
  • 100 Blue Mercury
  • 50 Tyrium (Ores for soldier protections and weapons. Also for masonnery)
  • 700 Wheat
  • 500 Tomatoes
  • 300 Rice
  • 300 Grapes (Crops to make sustainble food during siege, wine for the morale)

Goal : Attempting to raise the military strength of Arcadia (75% contribution, due to closer ideologies from Svengalf and connection with the Alacritan and Azalean faith) and the Final Frontier (25% contribution)

Edit : Materials taken by DMTorias on ticket #1627 !

A spark of anticipation runs through the peculiar living networks which uphold the defenses of Delphina's core demesne. Oaks old rousing from their patient vigil, and oaks young turning aglow for the first time to lend their nascent light to the wider whole. Experimentation in the barrier arts made at the behest of the realm's heir readied for the possibility of trial by fire. Royal decree demands an orderly haste to run circuits from woods and quarries to city streets and workshops. Much to be done - all rehearsal found through the farce of a bluff redoubled in effort. For all availing foresight which would indicate the well-established Realm in the heart of northern Meranthe be an ill-preferred pathway to the Demon King's prize further south - it would only be failing foresight itself, to rest upon the figurative laurels. The North whole was a front, and how quickly a front can shift!

No greater poison in the nation's history than a lack of duty and diligence from within.

Ports are renovated for not only finer efficiency, but further accommodation afforded by the recent reshaping of the land and sea at graces divine, an ideal harbor drawn between Dal'Thala and Nereides. Work is set to seeing those new piers filled with ready vessels to secure northern shores - native and otherwise, as word of an accord with the Ruby Empire of Gaikayo be proven substantial by the sight of jade-cloaked expeditionary forces arriving by the boatload alongside representatives of the home country's various guilds all-too interested to capitalize on certain privileges afforded in those Eastern ports for the added assurance to their safekeeping.

Yet as the requests of Gaikayo go answered, their necessity makes plain the vulnerable nature of a certain exclave in the west: Arcadia. Previous bonds of vassalage relinquished to be placed anew to a more geographically sensible liege - and most importantly, capable of obliging what defensive needs loom hauntingly over the heads of each the many city-states scattered between greater powers. Enfeoffed as a lordship of the Realm under the same charge of Mitra Prithvi, the Elzara marches to secure the newly extended border. Local militias supplemented roughly twice over by the more established domain's army.

Preceding deployment, junior officers and other middle-range magi within the ranks are screened and tried for the issuance of alchemical enhancers in quantities gauged to the development of their circuits. So doctrine would have it that what a single vanguard magi could covet and glut upon before their vessel can take no more could be just as efficiently used to enhance the acuity and survivability of roughly a dozen less intensive yet essential posts within their scope.

For what wagers would be made that some diversion from the home garrison be worth the prospect of denying certain footholds beyond Delphina's own scope - the home garrison remains much more sizeable than any expeditionary force currently dispatched. A reserve most would still envy for any surprises the war may yet pose beyond its opening acts, or perhaps more importantly remaining an unenviable path through the North as the war goes on.

Deployment of Forces:

21k Reserved
  5k Deployed to Gakaiyo
  4k Deployed to Arcadia

Wartime Initiatives:

Naval Expansion (10 sailboats. Nice, properly mapped ports.)
Booster Distribution (200 Vitality X, 200 Power X)
Awakening of the Barrier Oaks (???)

The Sacred Coalition's War Camp Rumbles

[Image: Buyenlarge_Hooker__Convoy_Pass_Through_t...093d6608e&]

As caravans of supplies bearing the Coalition's emblems arrive to their destination in The Ruby Empire, a symphony of hammers, saws and monstrous groans begin to echo within the coalition's encampments.

A sizable contribution is brought by The Shigenobu Clan consisting not only into construction materials for conventional defenses but a company of infantry led by Toki Shigenobu. Specialists of the Shigenobu Clan assist the Ruby Empire's forces into furthering their defenses.

-3000 Wood
-250 I
ron
-250 Copper
-50 Mythril
-50 Orichalcum
-50.000 C
oins

Druids and magic beasts follow suit as to forest patches of the battlefield, shards of crystals spread and buried amongst the trees alongside chunks of Auguria as to offer the lesser spirits and magic beasts anchor as to join the battle. An unconventional defense for an unconventional force.

-500 Acorns
-100 Wind Crystals
-100 Earth Crystals
-100 Fire Crystals

-100 Water Crystals
-100 Auguria

A final contribution is brought by the leader of the coalition, a resourceful man with a wide package of knowledge and amongst many, a lesser known metallurgist. Rare ores are brought to the front line as plates of Nhyesk are rose before key fortifications. Ballistic projectiles are coated in Viridium as magic implements are reinforced with Arcanium.

-30 Viridium
-20 Arcanium

Throughout the rowdy corners of Midpoint's stalls came the black suits. Men and women donning the attire of Midpoint's finest; they'd arrive in droves, rattling the vendors with their stampede. Such a uniform ruckus meant an abrupt relocation of the gathered forces of Midpoint - their destination being the vast grounds of the Institute, collaborating with their Western allies in a combined attempt to thwart the ruin the Atrellyan forces sought to bring.

They'd tow with them shipments of guns, armed to the teeth with rifles that evidently hadn't passed inspection from the Archmage Association, and lack their mark as a result. Even so, the suits alone do not comprise their army. Merchants, in abundance, accompany them in their march. Simple craftsmen abandon and board up their stalls, taking up arms and resources while leading their families away to the Western Front. Hundreds make the pilgrimage to the Institute, lending their aid and services to impede the demonic horde at the expense of their own lives.

And so, Midpoint is quiet. Hushed, on the day of their arrival, as the remnants of their forces - a staggering ten elite soldiers and lingering craftsmen - station at what was once a bustling market. They take to reconstructing the marketplace into something sinister; it'd be a death trap, littered with mechanisms that'd ensure whatever came in would perish with it. Their names?

Gustav, Victor, Falcone, Lucia, Marco, Lovenzo, Paulie, Edgar, Antonio, and Giovanni.

Rumors claim that the red-eyed Lapine, Kinsley Kingsley, will number amongst the few that meet Atrellya's forces at the stand-off to commence at Midpoint's borders, if such was to occur. A final stand was to come.

Midpoint sends the following to the Final Frontier:

- 990 soldiers.

- 20'000 coin.

- 300 carrots.

- 500 tomatoes

- 400 wood

- 200 iron

- 400 adamantite

- 20 auguria

- 20 arcanium

As the day of reckoning approaches, the world looks upon the northern wall of Meranthe in fearful anticipation. Will they fall like the many other countries within Aegis? The Enemy moving the chest pieces has a millennia of experience, resources, and power as an advantage, and an army that rivals- no, surpasses, even Mordred. The Abyssal Dragon Indras, once the pupil and inheritor of the dreaded perfect, has learned from the failings of his predecessor.

Indeed... beyond the whimsical, playful demeanour of the Demon King Indras is a tried and true conqueror. And Meranthe is the most prized jewel, for it is the land of the pantheon, the key to the cosmic dominion of Eternia.

It begins with an assault upon the human psyche. Much like the Crescent Fortress's reign of domination and slaughter, culminating with their claim of Vdali's Heart, similar tactics are employed. In the light skirmishes leading up to the siege the banners of Atrellya are accompanied by the corpses of the Ruby Empire's soliders.

Blacklight rises from the demonic war camps. Ogres and kaor demons stand on the frontlines, imposing. The scouts those that survive return with more detail on the enemy.

Abath, the Demon Sage of Ash. Always the first to lead the Demon King Indras's conquests. An arrant supporter ever since the illusive Abyssal Dragon declared that the world was theirs for the taking and united the demon clans.

Beyond the ebony fires her Smog whorls and coalescences above, to declare the beginning of the end...

"Breathing is the tedium of repetitiveness, but soon you'll have no need of it"

The Citadel now stands at an impressive 36'000 strong, as politics and strong movements pay their due. A fighting chance.
And yet...

What is that feeling at the pit of your stomach, an unshakeable despair... ?

Now is the opportunity for individuals to post any preparations they have actively made if they wish (as in, actually roleplayed/collaborated with others).    Show your will to survive.

"The Age of Mortyl? Can you be any more cliché?"

A smear of ichor trails after she whom denounces the influence of Mortyl, Petunia Dominic - a Nephilim who usurped power from their patronage rather than gained it through worship.

Dripping off of her sentient but dormant cursed blade, Rahmir, the blood is crimson in color.. not belonging to a demon but a follower of the Constant. If she was to piss off a deity, there was no better way but to target it's followers.

They are the reason for their power, after all.

Ever since Ruby Empire scouts have reported of a possible Atrellyan invasion, the head doctor of the settlement has been preparing The Obese Raccoon clinic and medical personnel in handling large amounts of wounded as well as basic inflictions of the mind and body by hellish creatures. While the medical wing of Xuefeng continued it's improvements, the mender herself has been seen hunting demons and fel creatures alike with great success, all to thin out the armies that set Gakaiyo as it's target.

"Life, and death.. a fate as old and boring as time. Luxurious stones.. they deny death's existence, too."

Ready to fend off Demon Sage's assault, she stood amongst many.

"It is time for the Age of Ruby, instead."

The menders are ready. The soldiers are ready. The music is ready.
"Are you, Abath?"

A journey unto the Blue Isles had left a few of it's participants injured to varying degrees, and yet...
All of them had returned with something more.

Above the skies of the Ruby Empire is a darkened figure seen,
black feathers falling down with each beat of a wing.

The Black Phoenix of the Blue Isles has been 'tamed'.

To others not of the Ruby Empire, it is perhaps a foreboding sight -
even moreso when paired with it's accompaniment.

Beneath it's shadow does Yin Shuren walk, bearing with her the flute that calls upon the phoenix itself.
Owing to the magics that the animist summoner bears, once her lips touch upon the object and plays it's song, the sound finds itself amplified all throughout the lands.
The Mark of the Phoenix glows as bright as the wisps at the spiritcallers aid.

"Ash falls
storms brew
and yet,
the sun shines."

Yin Shuren, as Bearer of the Flute and Tamer of the Phoenix,
stands ready to defend at all costs.
