In the aftermath of the Heist, it is said in retrieving the Heart of Vdali the party of nations had a choice to make. Stay and fight, and a rare opportunity to face- perhaps even wound or kill- the Demon King will present itself, or preserve to live another day and search for an escape. Wounded and prioritizing the divine object, they fended off the shadowy projection of the Abyssal Dragon and made for a portal exit once their prize was secured.
The Demon Lord Lykon claimed that Meranthe had five years to prepare for Atrellya's invasion.
This was proven to be a ruse, as the confrontation would reveal. A lie meant to incite chaos and panic, and it did just that; he died knowing what would follow. Atreylla's armies were presently occupied with the conquest of Aen, but swiftly changed. Scout reports and distant intel reveal a withdrawal, and fate has one more joke in the Ascendant's death...
A lone, demonic horse and its rider bares a message. A jus bellum dicendi: a formal declaration of conquest, penned directly by the hand of the Abyssal Dragon, the Demon King, Apprentice of Mordred, Destroyer of Worlds, prophesied to be the End of Times.
It is sent to all Nations of Meranthe, and reads,
"Hey!"
"It's me again, your dear friend Indras. How are you all doing?"
"Since our time was cut short, I thought I'd extend the invitation to each and every warrior-king. Make the trek to Atryella, and bend the knee. We treat our vassals well, but our enemies aren't so fortunate."
"The Demon Sage of Destruction, the Sage of Tomorrow, and the Sage of Light will be heading down there to take back what you borrowed from me. And I don't know, a hundred thousand or so demons."
"See you soon, hopefully!!"
Much like the Hollow World event, this is a large-scale public event (up to 45 attendees; co-DMs will once again be welcome). Not only are character deaths likely, but settlements will be razed.
Multiple objectives depending on the development of IC and a sign-up form will be presented closer to the time for groups of 5 (in 2-3 weeks or so).

Event Lineup
Saturday
One of the Seven Sages will lead an overwhelming assault on a northern kingdom; either the Final Frontier or the Citadel (& Xuefeng) is at risk. Which one will be struck is unknown (it'll be rolled for on the day).
At the present moment, the nations of Meranthe watch as massive war camps gather on the mountain passages.
It's estimated that the initial strike will be with sheer, crushing force, of 30,000 in power; completely outmatching the Citadel's 10,000, and the Final Frontier's 5000. Without reinforcements their defeat is perhaps inevitable.
Monday - Friday
A series of smaller, hit-and-run style raids. Legions of roughly 5000 demonic troops will each be sent out at the moderately sized nations, such as Prospera, Arcadia, Dragon's Nest, Midpoint, etc.
Of the six attacked, the three that perform the worst will be destroyed. Details on the grading system/manner of event will be provided, and it will also be decided via a roll.
Beyond Friday
As Meranthe adapts to this climate, there are sure to be unique opportunities, whether it's striking back or making a particular move. This is where things begin to get more personalized, and the high stakes continue.
Final Event
The finale...
Est. Runtime: 14th September - 29th September
Main Cast
The Seven Sages of Destruction
The Demon King
The Pantheon - This will impact the schism's direction
The leaders of the Final Frontier and the Citadel should make any preparation known here; the same for oher nations. Additional scores might be provided but far from guaranteed.
Additionally, settlement leaders may relocate soldiers by posting here; this naturally weakens their defense. It is likely preferable that the 'northern wall' is not breached... if Atrellya wins the initial battle then that adds momentum to the remainder of their campaign. But who would risk losing their own home?

"The forces of the Demon King march - and with it, so too shall we. Go, my creations. Rend the flesh from their bones. Tear their cities down brick by brick. Leave nothing left behind in the Demon Kings name." - A statement given by Etriath.
Following the sightings of the Demon Kings armies marching through the peaks of Meranthe, scouts that kept a close eye upon the Crescent Isle notice something beginning to change. Demons begin to grow in numbers, as the last remaining Forgemaster's are hard at work creating a supplementary force. Profane rituals take place, giving a mysterious air through Meranthe as their foul magics take hold of the lands. An aura of dread spreads out from the isle, as death magic creeps across the lands. Plants wither, and local wildlife are found dead or reduced to dust.
And while the brunt of the united Meranthe stands against the oncoming army, the remnants of the Coven begin to perform attacks of their own.
As those well versed in wayfinding begin to feel something stirring within the lifestream - as something begins to tear away in preparation.

The mountains around the Citadel crawl with demons as Atrellya's approach becomes more clear. The forces of the newly risen Ruby Empire group begin to move as both the Ten's Citadel and Xuefeng begin to build defensive structures and settle in war camps. Within the port of the Citadel many shipwrights work away through both day and night, building a new fleet in preparation. But the docks are not busy with shipwrights alone.
From Dal'Thala troops arrive, the Shogun meeting with the Lumin King and agreeing to the exchange of soldiers for access to the expansive ports of the Citadel both leading up to the invasion and for some time after. Five naval squadrons hoisting their colors stand in the support of Gakaiyo.
From the west more arrive, the Ents are called into action by the creature dubbed by Meranthe as 'Monster', locally referred to as Chomei. Magical beasts and druids of the Sacred Coalition set up camp within the north, prepared to defend it alongside the warriors of the Aegis, Dal'Thala and the Ashigaru.
The Shogun along with a small group of trusted individuals have been seen loading supplies onto a ship for a quest to the east. They hope to return with further support from Sheng along with a trump card to turn the tides in their favor.
There are rumored talks of representative from the Republic showing up within Gakaiyo, but any current dealings have been turned away at the door.

OOC - The upper ranks of the Final Frontier & the Citadel should convene within the Council chat to organize dates for the opening events; this will be two separate events (ideally the upcoming weekend, or around then). Leadership of all nations may continue to update their movements here as they please, freely.

Once, forged to be the city's final defense. To be the bastion that would protect the home of great minds against the insane, greedy and lost in their own selfish desires, that sought to bring end to the city within the dunes. Now, activated at a time when not only Frontier is at risk, but Meranthe as a whole.
Once forged to be the city's final defense, a bastion to protect the home of great minds against the insane, the greedy, and all those lost in their own selfish desires that sought to bring the end to the city within the dunes.
Now it is activated once more, the numerous generators whir to provide power to a defender that is no longer just the Frontier's, but Meranthe's as a whole.
Quote:> Gates opened

> Preparations completed
> AT-1-CM (Designation: Titan Animunculi - Combat Model) inbound
For now, the time has come to rid this world of the scum that seeks to bring an end to everything that was created. It is time to use what has been stored for years, for a greater purpose, and to ensure the future of the magitech. Of the progress that humankind has made along the years.
By exterminating every single demon and their followers.
For they if they wish to bring our end, they shall endure the might of science!
And everyone shall hear the rumbling of our creation.
The Titan, along with everything else, is kept at the entrance to the Frontier's Vault. Bombs are settled on the surrounding area, mines and the like - The bridges that lead around Final Frontier are demolished, and the very ground rumbles in anticipation to the upcoming combat. In a frigid night, a series of explosions come, and the continent itself is bombarded; All the way until the very ground breaks apart. A piece of it unto the ocean, swallowed by the rising tides - And another piece unto the never-ending chasm to the west. Something says that it is not the last of these bombardments to be seen, yet.
A large enough force of them cannot swim or fly, it's reasoned; Otherwise they'd likely have faced Dal'thala as well. So, the plan takes its full proportion there - While the demons are in larger number, no matter what, they can still keep some degree of equality by simply forcing them into the narrow hallways between buildings - Or worse, deep in the Vault, where the earth itself and the magically inert walls protects them. To stray from the hallways would be to give in to the chasm itself.
And there, the Western Front makes its stand.
Serenity, Dragon's Nest, Midpoint and Final Frontier stand with their armies inside the halls of the Institute. Hordes upon hordes of robots prepare to fight back; And serve as a metallic shield to the lives of their magi.
GLORY TO THE INSTITUTE.
GLORY TO THE WESTERN FRONT.
IF WE MUST DIE, WE DIE AS HEROES.
