Barsburg's enemy nation, the Empire of Aen once teamed up with the Giants of Vdalion in order to finally strike the death blow against the technological superpower, many many decades ago. The ruins of the Empire stretches onwards, and most of it has been reclaimed by nature - while the technology left over is ripe for salvaging from those willing to take the risk into the unknown... And who also know where to look.

After years of wishing to go, the Oracle of Gloomlight begins to assemble a team ready and willing to take on the challenges the former dominant superpower presents in its death. Their target? The former Capital of the Empire.
Specifically? The very place that was responsible for manufacturing their Synthetics - and the home of the fabled Coalescence, which was once thought to hold ultimate control over Barsburg's synthetics, and also hold the minds, memories, and thoughts of the Empire's most famous scientists.
