______
After the death of the King, an unheard of Regicide that shook the very firmament, your home fell into disarray. The clans warred, tribes of Demons bred and honed over generations now no longer united by the fear of their great progenitor. This force, once capable of terrorizing the world over and the whole of Atrellya, now turned on itself. To call it a civil war would have been technically correct, but there is nothing civil about the way the Clans wage war against each other.
Indras' demise has broken that tenuous peace between those three great powers. This of course leaves their servants, their pawns, slaves, and the 'lesser' populations of the country to suffer all the more. Any stability that you once knew was summarily dashed when the power vacuum opened.

Same as it ever was.

But strange Heralds arrive from lands beyond. Heralds with all the look of one of the Fel blooded of the Wolf clan - the sharp eyes, a predator's teeth and claws, the curving horns of those so Blessed by Demonic gifts. Discreetly, they brought missives to your people.

Or, more accurately, invitations. Offers for asylum away from this place. Food, supplies. Coin to bribe stout sailors for passage off the coasts. A distant land, far removed from the reaches of the Clans. A land where the King fell, no less, and now a barrier keeps all but the worst of Demonkind at bay. Not to say it does not have its own troubles.

The offer is almost too good to be true. Its source, though revealed in part, is dubious. Is the missive you were given worth trusting? Is it even real, or is it some kind of trap for the 'unfaithful' by Indras' last zealots? Will you simply be trading one master for another?

All you have is the missive you were given, and the slim chance it provides you with a better life beyond this one.

-- What Are You? --

You are a native of Atrellya, a member of its humanoid population. Circumstances tend to vary among them, but all of them live beneath the yoke of Demon rule. You were presented with the opportunity for sponsorship for a better life beyond the lands of your home.

Why you chose to take that sponsorship is up to you.

No hard and fast requirements for magics, races (so long as they make sense), etc. Be creative!

Application-required races must be applied for separately.

-- What Is Available For This Role Hook? --

This is a purely narrative role hook. As such, no immediate mechanical benefits are available on-spawn.

However, support is promised by you Patron, the one that funded your departure from Atrellya in the first place. Equipment, supplies, tinctures, no doubt rank among the possibilities. There is also liable to be more payment and work for willing hands. Surely your Patron has goals too, goals which could become yours if you chose to take them up. Plenty of rumors surround her. Who knows which are valid or simply hearsay.

To apply, please fill out the following form, here. For any questions, please feel free to DM Felice Argus or add them to your form response.

Pale hands clutch onto a scrawled missive, reading it by firelight. Bodies huddle together in a cluster there in the encampment at the edge of the Gotaalv mountains. Several haggard souls murmur to one another as they discuss in hushed whispers, as if they might be overheard in the desolate wood. The barest snap of a branch in the cold, dark nigh stirs nerves.

A child, with little more than worn garb and a rucksack and a cloak, boards a ship. Sailors carefully usher the clustered masses into the hold. Constantly they look over their shoulder and up the shoreline with wary, anxious gazes. Winds howl across the desolate beach. Devoid of life, devoid of hope. Nothing good is left behind.

Word of mouth passes between those still beneath the yoke of the old rule of the clans - pennants of the Noble Wolf flap in the breeze, tattered. One of the last bastions of their once-great clan that yet stands. Cruel masters work those in their service to their limit under pain of death. Their servants prepare to flee in the night, escaping a land in tumult.

It is a risk, a gamble. A tempting rumor of safety and prosperity in a country far from home, far from the dregs of the King's loyalists or the squabbling children of his once-lofty clans.

A promise: for liberation, for a reversal of what has long been held by these people as the 'natural order'.

A promise of Sanctuary.

Who Are You?

An Atrellyan refugee whom has, for one reason or another, decided to leave your homeland. It offers little opportunity save for those in the dwindling Moonfall Coven. Perhaps escaping slavery, or an upcoming initiation into their dark ranks  Maybe only seeking a chance to rise above your meager station, or find the means to strike back at your once-masters. The choice is yours, the limit is your imagination.

What Is Offered?

This is a narrative role hook, but is rife for many opportunities for development. A faction that has some opinions and methods that are a source of contention across much of Meranthe. Boosters and basic equipment provided to all.

For those that remain consistent with roleplay and presence, the following is additionally provided:
  • Instruction in unique magics (Arcane [Order and Chaos], Occult, and otherwise)
  • A unique route to Sorcery and a specially developed sub-school that you can have a hand in shaping
  • Artifacts for unique weapons, armors, and support of your IC goals as thematically fits
  • Potential for positions of importance in an established faction - whether that be military, research, or otherwise
