Towards Netherfell.

To Demon's throne.

Though while most might, not all eyes belong to the Republic.

Some instead look east.

They look to their future.

  

It comes as a surprise. No warning offered or steps taken beforehand. As the main armies of the Republic find themselves elsewhere the cliffs overlooking the Brigand's Bazaar are met with rolling clouds. They spill upon the beach, leaving no room to find safety from their influence. Silhouettes fall to the floor, not with a lack of breath, but instead lack of wakefulness.

 

The lookouts of Martyr's Vigil are put to sleep just as they are able to put out the first of warnings to those who remain.
 

 

Portals open en masse, the sky above blotched with verdant buzz as sorcerers and soldiers fall and make their arrival upon the site. Sleeping bodies gathered, set aside and bound to chain. Dark figures that shift within the fog.
 

 
And upon the cliffs above, where it all had began, an elite group remains. Marked with Aetius' colors, they anticipate the approach of once owners who they look to relieve of their duty.

The Republic looks to many places.

Many of its elite are busied with preparations for final crusades against ancient foes. 
Death and vengeance are powerful inspirations, written so hot and cold upon the flesh of their victors and victims.

The Goldlight Order is just as easily split between various duties.



It is hers, to visit the Brigand's Bazaar and claim contraband. On a very fateful day, Sarina Mellows performs a routine task. Her mood is bright and warm, unbothered; pleased with the safety of the roads, following the destruction of the city of Viritas. She is not entirely alone, having brought with her a handful of subordinates on patrol to their tenuous 'territory' far from the lands that they call home. She instructs,

"Please, friends... Visit the people, and learn from them. Understanding what desperation inspires their dedication to these unfortunate methods... It is necessary, as we prepare for more morbid work. Rest. Soon, I will leave you, and I might not return.

Varrach's lair is a terrible place. And I will march to it-"

Her eyes widen in surprise, as the veil of reality shifts in subtle ways. As fate seems to ravel itself upon her fingertips.

She pauses, careful not to upset her less experienced soldiers. The Captain-General's journey to the Brigand's Bazaar is as routine as ever, until it is not.
A sentry she has seen every time she has visited. A man that she knows by name, has gone missing. Something is awry. 

"... Everyone. I detect a disturbance. Come with me. Let us investigate, carefully."

Perhaps it is not long before she sets eyes upon agents of Aetius.
Golden dew drips upon open scissorblades.
Surprise registers, sharp upon her expression.

"What?! Why- why TODAY?! They promised-! URGH! DAMMIT!"

She reaches for a transceiver and transmits a message, yelling quickly, urgently. Imprinting her voice upon the interface, it carries well her desperation and surprise. Her expression twists into a mixture of betrayal and concern as danger and violence bubbles up in her chest.

"ANYA! HANDLE VARRACH WITHOUT ME! THE BAZAAR IS UNDER ASSAULT! AETIUS - THEY'RE TAKING OUR PEOPLE!
...
NO, DON'T WORRY, I'VE... I'VE GOT THIS!"

When last Sarina Mellows clashed with Kyran, Archmage of Aetius... she was soundly defeated. Perhaps fate intends an encore. Nevertheless,

A split force of the Goldlight Order defends the Brigand's Bazaar.

Shall it be round two?
