The Flames of Reckoning

From an isle off the mainland of Meranthe, where cracks of gold cut through the cobblestone streets and air thrums of ancient Drakonian heat - the Drakanite legions gather beneath a moonlit sky. A bell forged of Dragon bone tolls across the isle, rattling its citizens and echoing through the plains of Pyrithian. Plumes of flame cut through the sky, and the beating of Dragon wings reverberates like a war drum over all of Meranthe.

Pyrithian banners are held high by armored Drakanites that march across land and sail across sea - wings unfurling as they stand tall with attention and intention. Through the destroyed lands of Goldlight, and over the empty plains beyond. They march north-east, crossing bridges and finding themselves upon the snow covered mountains where Vdalion once sat, so long ago.

Drums fall silent only when they reach the outside of Crownforge itself. Dragon’s fly over the mountainside city, bellowing flames from maw, roaring with their anger with a sound that is deep and resonant, carried on waves of heat that rolled over the snow covered lands like thunder.

Both Tiamat of the Drakanite city make their presence and intent known.

Quote:“The Dwarven ‘King’ has drawn his blade against the sacred blood of the sky.”

“They have hunted our kin as trophies, and have slain our dragons. No doubt they would chain our young, and tear our wings from our backs if given the chance to do so. They call it dominion, and strength.”

We call it sacrilege.

“Let it be known across the realm of Meranthe, the mercy of Pyrithian ends this night. Crownforge will answer for every scale bled crimson, every torn off wing, and echo of agony that has reached our skies. The dwarf-king, Daggar, the Dragon murderer - will fall. And the city upon the mountains where Vdalion once stood and held our ancestors, will be ours.

Mitsumo S. Irontail, of The Ruby Empire, seeks to buy Crownforge from Daggar’s trembling hand. They believe that they have a right to claim that which is owed to us. After all of our sacrifices and what has been taken.”

“Let it be written in flame: should the Ruby banners rise above Crownforge’s walls, then our war will turn upon them. Pyrithian’s vengeance will not be bargained, nor bought. No empire shall profit from dragon blood. No foreign throne will rule over the bones of our kin.”

We declare this war. Crownforge shall fall. Daggar shall die. And the sky itself shall remember Pyrithian’s name.

TARGET: Crownforge
OBJECTIVE: The death of the dragon slayer king, and to claim the city.

Chained armaments fly from the ancient dwarven holds, shattering air as they whistle upwards towards the draconic horde.
Resonant flames hardly melt the snowed entrances before they are met with cold dwarven iron.
With them, carry a tablet of stone, smacked upon the face of the lowest flying drakan.

Quote:"Yer slit-eyed sulfur-stinkin' snake-bellied limp-tailed overgrown newts, get yer scales outa yer slit-eyes and read this well:

Yer worthless ilk ain't worth the metal 'ta chain.

We dwarves slaved under yon' skinks,

'tis be m'Liege Daggar Crownforge that saved we from under yer damned rule

Ta think there'd be more out the caves...

Maybe I hopes ye'll be different, but nae;

Death 'n destruction be all the good yer kind is able -

'N all that ye prove ta be able.

Least yer dull scales make fer good armor. That much I'll give."

An armored dwarf looks up from the mountain entrance, visible for them all to see, holding behind him the Standard of the Crownforge.

"Pull back The Legion."
"Our grievances have been settled."

Quote:All of the Dragons that have been surrounding the snow covered mountains of Meranthe seem to have turned around, to head back toward the isle of Pyrithian. The Pyrithian Legion packs up their camps where they had been preparing for war, and heads back down the mountain and across seas back to their home. While the reason for it remains unverified, its clear an understanding has come to pass.

Pyrithian no longer declares war.
