The Sword of Sanctuary is the Official Militia of Sanctuary. 
It's broken down like this.

The Sheathe: Troops of lesser rank reside here. [Private, Corporal]
They are the working force of the Sword, the very reason why it remains pristine. 
The Blade: Seargent, Sharp Seargent.
The Middle Managers of the blade itself, composed of troops formerly of lesser rank yet sharpened into those who decide just how sharp the edge of the blade of the force is, they are considered perhaps in a way the most important and honorable.
The Crossguard: Lieutenants, Captains.
These people are usually leaders of small formations within the bigger group, even at times given freedom and focus to train on hyperfocus on more specialized tasks within their squads. Be it medical or even hunting the Fel. They are what separates the hilt of the sword from it's upper parts, yet serve as a bridge between such between such. Generally, only exceptional people are placed within this part of the militia.
The Hilt: Major, General.
These people are either the Commander of the force at large and or the lead of Sanctuary. Set as the hands that swing the sword in defense and mobilize them for war. Setting the tempo for each part of the blade with their actions.

The Sword itself is a defensive force at heart although has capabilities for offense in dire situations, Set on discipline and uplifting those left and right to you. It has rigorous training which is not for the faint of heart. For to survive in the shadowlands you must be tough and to protect those shying away from the world at large no matter what? You have to be willing to fight until you drop. 

Kill when needed and maintain discipline when possible. The Sword of Sanctuary was established by Braxton Bargiel by order of Felice Argus. To those interested about joining they are suggested to either find him or any of his leaders (The Blade and above).

The Shields of Sanctuary
A knight order run by Captain Alexandre Dawnseeker Svapanor that is dedicated to the domestic defense of their home, Sanctuary.

Functioning much like traditional knights, the Shields swear an oath to the preservation of the cause of Sanctuary and its people, as well as any other values that would warrant swearing oneself into the fold. Ultimately, the oath itself is modular to the individual, while the function of the order remains consistent.

The Shields will have their focus on protecting their people, acting as vanguards and bodyguards for those in need of Sanctuary, and as the Captain himself is a skilled exorcist, holy magic tutelage is offered as a perk of joining. Likewise, preserving the well-being of their people may involve skill in medicine. Just as well, members of the Shields are encouraged to learn either under the Captain or otherwise to obtain at least a basic understanding of first aid and combat medicine.

Towering suits of thick armor with even thicker shields.
Crafty, roguish anti-heroes with a love for community.
Physicians of all sorts and magical backgrounds (except for Witchcraft and Necromancy).
Holy knights and mages not dedicated to a god, but to a people. YOUR people.
