From a distance is marching observed, metallic feet advancing westward through perilous snowy conditions. Soldiers of the newly installed military storm the grounds. In their hands is an official decree of the Ruby Empire, then fastened to the budding foundation. At its top right corner is the stamp of the national bird: the immortal Phoenix.

Quote:The ambitious project is to hereby cease construction indefinitely. You, who so callously tread upon the empire's territory, are to abandon the site.

Found guilty of several crimes:

Construction without explicit permission.
Trampling upon a rich history and historical landmarks- The Ten's Citadel, and Enos.

Desecration of a holy site once belonging to Ualdir.
Unlawful occupancy, yes we see your tents.

...You, ANNIE RICHTER, are to be detained if caught trespassing, and branded an enemy of the state, where death is almost certain inevitability.

Signed,
Soheil Jangjul

"There is an active threat against you."
"By.. whom?"
"Just be careful.."
A missive sent by one of Vinaska's faith explains the situation, as the work has been halted up north. A reprimand for the Richter issued in the face of several criminal charges, alongside threat of Death. A long-march to the north has begun with a few of the faithfuls to have a long since required talk between the Faithfuls of Vinaska and the Ruby Empire who claim the ruins as theirs.
If only nothing goes wrong..

It appears that strongly worded letters are not the only happenstance near the construction site anymore. Drones made of flesh and blood seem to attack and assault the workforce, incoming deliveries are destroyed or made useless and the snow itself was painted red. It appears that not just stonehaven has made a clear stance against this building as the mountain hag hotspring owner on mount grimjhal has taken action against the outsiders.

"Go back to the shadowlands where the faith of Vinaska belongs."

A humble list somehow makes it among the inflammatory letters, somehow dodging the sudden air assault from that REALLY DISTANT HOTSPRING SOUTH OF CROWNFORGE.
No name or seal attached, but some suspect it's that one goddamn sheep from Arcadia (despite a recent public FIRING, as some have mentioned in whispers):

Quote:Vionelle Crest is not a witch. She is:

  • Creator of Amira Crest - successful homunculus, no notes, good work!
  • Creator of C.O.L.A. - handed a staff and sent out into the world while blatantly failing to grasp survival instincts, died as a result of poor parenting
  • Creator of Ranzi - currently undergoing some slow horrible Chronmancy-related death as she serves Sanctuary and aids Camazura, notably a friend of Sinthara and Sei for many years.
  • Currently AIDING the last of those three as she struggles to find or guilt trip people into getting her a cure
  • Known Riftmancer
  • Known to loath all religions but will be quiet about those of Crownforge as they turn a blind eye to her business
  • For some reason someone that feels a need to violently attack messengers bearing updates on the date of a funeral of someone of a religion she hates (all of them, and no one was asking her to show up either so why couldn't she just shut the Hel up?)
  • For some reason someone who asserts herself now to attack and kill non-mage workers caught in the middle of a dispute because she wants the world to remember she exists
  • Known to have hosted members of Ad Contra Deos in her hotspring numerous times

Vionelle Crest, however, is not a witch
She has been tested several times

Vionelle Crest is not a cultist either...

But she sure does look like a duck and quack like one too.

So she should probably go to the shadowlands where the Fel's allies belong.

Sincerely,
Someone bitter and of no rank whatsoever, who remembers all this and knows that as always nothing will happen here.

Some question why someone barely related to any of this dispute would comment, while others point out that the same could be said of the mountain hag.

"Isn't the hotspring closer to Kindlehelm than Stonehaven anyway? What the hel is she mad about? And why the hel are THEY stepping into this?"

The day passes, and the group most devoted to the Winter Matron arrives to the sight of destruction. Workers, beat and injured -- are rescued and sent away through the roads kept safe by the Wandering Witness. The soldiers of Ruby Empire stationed around the area are given word to bring about those who have sent them, only- they never come back.. The forces of Ruby Empire do not answer the call of the faithful, instead- a rumor begins within the lands that the Empire is no more than a puppet state of the Camazura, as in their stead the nefarious force of Bal'al'rok arrive from the distance.

... barely do the Faithful avoid an lethal encounter, as they had been sprung a trap in their eyes.

For now, the camp is abandoned.. but word says; this encounter has soured already thin relations.

It was a massacre like no other. The Sky darkened, lightning cracked, and the wind howled like a banshee. The Smell of Iron spread across the North harkening back to the time of Extinction. Like the Great Sages of Atrellya, the Wraith's of Camazura arrive invoking chaos and strife around them. There were those who escaped through their nefarious means, but those who did spoke of the Soldiers of the Ruby Empire being cut down and captured. The Workers of the Faithful were spared neither.
Quote:Behold your nightmares Meranthe for Ba'ala'rok's return is nigh.
You may pray to your gods, but you will not find peace.
How long will your Holy Grounds stand? Do they not already tremble and shake?

Long ago I prophesied this to come to pass.
Your lands will be bathed in blood.
The Domain of the Gods will Tremble.
You will never know peace.

Once before I've told the people of Meranthe.
The Truth is a Lie.
It serves as a jail to give those at the top authority
and those at the bottom oppression.

Do not worry people of Crownforge, Caethir, and Atheleon.
Do not worry people of Myridia, Arcadia, and Delphina.

For we will cast your systems into the void and tear it down piece by piece.
All will be made brand new. All will be cleansed as this is the end time.

Before the Destruction of the Camp, there a few survivors from different parties that were set free by the Camazura as a means to relay messages and rumors of what happened.

While most of the faithful managed to evade the ambush, a few remained behind to ensure the final passage of workers could cross the pass unharmed.

A skirmish ensued and blood was exchanged in the snow, later leading to a series of horse tracks that fled through the ensuing storm.

"Vinaska's Faithful remain strong. We will not be broken."

There is a stir within the Old Order once more.

In the far north stands Vulkahn Folhammar, injured from his recent encounter from Speira where he publicly chose his faith and desire to rebuild Jotunns over aiding those who seek to destroy everything. The banner of Speira that once dawned upon the First falls to embers, never to be seen again. As tensions rise from recent events, the Folhammar can be seen acting to put the masses at ease.

- After personally aiding those who were attacked and what was destroyed, a report is issued confirming zero casualties, a discussion is later held with the one responsible, understanding the attack was caused out of fear that Delphina's influence would attempt to control the renewal of Vinaska's faith. Compensation for those attacked and what was destroyed will be given if it is proven that Delphina has zero involvement, along with a formal apology.

- Rumors regarding the Ruby Empire being a puppet state to the Camazura become quickly disproven as word spreads about the Ruby Empire's continuous resistance efforts against the Ba'al cultist, eyewitnesses reported seeing a recent conflict between the two separate parties earlier in the year.

- Regarding the meeting that was to take place between the Ruby Empire, Vulkahn, Iaxel and Vincent, and Annie. The meeting was not held as notable figures as Aricles, Garret, and Seneschal among others were brought by Annie without informing other parties. Furthering suspicions of Delphina's influence as the war between the Ruby Empire and Delphina is not over. Though dissatisfied with the surprise, Vulkahn is seen defending Annie's action, viewing it as her bringing support rather than setting an ambush.

- As for Bal'al'rok's ambush that led in the faithful being injured, mutterings echo that such an private and important event shouldn't be publicly announced when it is to take place outside of territory walls.

Quote:
"Here I am, and here I will stay. Until the temple is constructed, until her faith is renewed. Until those are born in her image."

"I will stand."

- VULKAHN FOLHAMMAR
