  Subjecting the Sea
Posted by: ry0un0suke - 12-20-2019, 07:55 AM - Forum: Pre-Meranthe - No Replies

Far, far away, where man has not touched, where man has no power. The power wrested by the seas, guided by its push and pull, a will of its own, a will untamed.
Osrona's shores no longer sufficed. The ruthlessness of the unknown and unconquered waters was the only way to push themself beyond in every regard- It aligned more with Lukas, a force to be reckoned with yet completely out of control.
Lukas poured tome over tome, map over map, in search of an ocean to push their prowess and durability. Far off Esshar's shores lied such sea, open, dangerous, lonely. They'd embark on it alone, needing time to think and assimilate before conquering and controlling. They intended to return alive and far more powerful than when they left.

  A Notice for those talented in the field of Gravity Magic
Posted by: Method T - 12-20-2019, 01:28 AM - Forum: Pre-Meranthe - No Replies

Paper flyers have been posted around Osrona, stuck to the various noticeboards around the city. Each flyer is simple in design, with an identical message displayed in bold lettering throughout the advertisement.

Quote:I, Erick Falstrik, am seeking a mentor in the field of Gravity Magic. As of late, I have taken up the unusual field of magic, given its synergy with my own particular specialization, but my studies have born no fruit.

In the event you're found skilled enough to warrant being my mentor, we can discuss payment.

To anyone responding to this message, please direct your messages and inquiries to Erick Falstrik, Blazing Lion Knight and Mayoral Candidate.

(My Discord is Tay#2309, if you wish to respond to this message. I have a slightly irregular work schedule, so we'll have to find a time good for both parties.)

[Position is filled.]

-----------
Soon after the flyer is posted, a response is already provided, and the position has been filled- should no special circumstances arise.

  Lemon's Magimail Delivery Service
Posted by: Writerer2 - 12-20-2019, 12:44 AM - Forum: Pre-Meranthe - No Replies

Sets of fliers are hung up around the city, each sheet bordered by strange looking runes that appear to shuffle about in the corner of one's eye. It reads...

~~~
"Tired of how boring your mail is? You need a Magi!"
[Image: W0Ly55t.png]
"With Magimail, we aim to make your message as exciting as possible!"
"So meet the team!"
[Image: WC5m4E6.png]
~~~
Those with little to no experience with magic or resisting it would by now be seeing the symbols beginning to leap from the page, surrounding the reader as they bounced around. Of course, some would recognise the use of illusion magic, but for many, it would be far too late as they watched the world around them change momentarily.

The world returns to normal shortly after the vision's end and the flier remains in its place, as though never having conjured a thing.
~~~
  Rebalance Nyeshk and Mythril armor pls
Posted by: Jetniss - 12-19-2019, 08:19 PM - Forum: Suggestions - Replies (2)
Quote:Order Legplate [LEGS]
"The official armor of the Order of The First Light, only authorized to be worn by Knights."
Level Req: 1
Boost: +5vit +7 weight
[EXALTED VITALITY GLYPH]
Quote:Reinforced Nyeshk Greaves [LEGS]
"These greaves are made of some sort of material that is as black as night, and are seemingly intended to cover the entirety of the wearer's legs. Red glyphs are emblazoned upon the backs of the greaves and all along the waist. Those knowledgeable in metal would understand that this is the ultra-durable, ultra-powerful material known as Nyeshk. Even if one is completely ignorant about metals, they would be able to feel raw, powerful magical energies emanating from the greaves. Only a Magi would be able to wear them due to their weight, but when they DO wear them, they would feel invincible, cocky, and as if they could take on the world."
Level Req: 54
Boost: +7vit +20 weight
[EXALTED VITALITY GLYPH]
Price: 1500c
Order knights have been rocking Mythril or better armor since the start of the game and with no level requirement. Meanwhile to get armor better than a knight, it's nominally better and requires you to be 200 RPL to wear it, nevermind the effort of surviving Adremmelch, miining the single node of Nyeshk, finding a artificer and having them make it for you.
Nevermind the struggle of the Artificer and the RPP investment of said Artificer to reach the required Exp requirement, grinding tons of resources and all the energy wait, and all this stuff.
The Order is way busted and has too many benefits that I don't think they should have or need. The hero group shouldn't even have such huge advantages when they're designed to be 40 players strong. What's the point of 40 players when their core/average player has more advantages than most of the villains. Your average villain would need to team up on the knight, and villain groups are like 10 deep.
2:1 power vs 1:10 population???
AN INTERVIEW WITH A CONSTABLE PG. 6
LONGEST RUNNING DROUGHT, SIGN OF THE TIMES? PG. 4
MAYORAL DEBACLE, SYNDICATE OPERATION? FIRST LIGHT PLOY? PG. 8
BREAKING NEWS
Pictured above: Artist Redition of Jasper the Zombie Knight.
A ZOMBIE IN THE ORDER? THE CHILLING ACCOUNT ON
 JASPER, KNIGHT OF THE ORDER
PG. 2
PG 2.
In a still developing story, a tragic story that leaves many feeling unsafe and seeking answers from the church. Residents in Messaris and Sudbury have heard the tales of Jasper's triumphant victory against the Syndicate alongside the rest of the Knights involved in the raid. The story of the lengths he went to rescue Asphira, his student, has been an endearing tale that only brings more heartbreak when reports arrived of his death during an incursion to Moonfall a few months later.
Beheaded by savages, and not given a proper burial, many report that it was a overwhelming shock. Some thought it impossible, while others looked to Asphira as she was expected to carry his torch. This only deepened the wound the latest news had brought when Jasper was found alive and in one piece despite numerous witnesses to his beheading. With Jasper walking again, this gives rise to the thought that perhaps he is not the real Jasper, but a fake.
The most extreme of the rumors say that he is in fact alive, but not well. It is no secret that many suspect the ritualistic nature of Moonfall has been attributed to witchcraft, and many believe that Jasper is a creation of said heresy. The evils of Moonfall has given the Order back one of their prized knights, and any knight who had questioned how Jasper could walk again after losing his head months ago was threatened to be jailed. One knight Nerin, was taken away.
Many residents are seeking prayer and protection at the church as this is sure to bring evils untold. Many question how the  Exarchs and Radiants can allow this, but reports say that Atrosus Vandigan was not only defending Jasper, but was deeply infatuated with the witch-like woman who governs over Moonfall leaving many thinking the Order has lost its way. ??
The article goes on to speculate the potential for impersonation and reasons for it, such as protecting the reputation of the Order.
PG 4.
For ten months, farmers have been experiencing extreme hardships as crop production has ground to decisive halt. Many plants from the previous harvest season hasn't returned many seeds and the Osronan seed merchants have not been around in some time. Some say the drought is affecting the entire kingdom, others blame the taxes the merchants have to pay. Whatever it is,the working class of Messaris is hurt the most by the lack of seeds.
Lucky farmers who had stockpiles during the seed boom are the only ones still producing, and many farmers who were stuck without are learning from those who were more forward thinking about the situation. Could this be a sign of a greater issue in Osrona? ??
The article goes on to describe seeds, the job of a farmer, and how the seed shortage affects them over the next few pages.
PG 6.
This article gives a brief summary of what it's like to be a constable and the way Knights are constantly encroaching on law-enforcement and the watch. It is a difficult line to toe as Knights tend to think they have the most authority. Names have been omitted and a number of questions as well. At the end of the story a more thorough interview is promised.
PG 8.
The elections have made its first major update since the Sudbury debate. All candidates have been removed from the running with the exception of nobleman Claude vey Pelleaux, and Faith endorsed Erick Falstrik. The consensus on the streets of Messaris and Sudbury say that this is a rigged election. The candidates who were removed from the race resonated with their constituents, and the remainders only resonate with the pockets of those of the upper class.
Many are dissatisfied with the results and have been very vocal about it. The consensus is alaringly clear, "No one in Sudbury wants them, and most hasn't even heard of them" --Sudbury Resident circa 1665AC. The recent developments have even lead people to question the raid of the First Light and the allegations that Iris Arsali was a member of the syndicate. The alleged story dictates that the Order did not want a Rhoynish mayor in Sudbury, and used her Rhoynish descent and radical platform to substantiate a claim of her ties to terrorist organizations, and assassinated her before the elections could advance.
This certainly would ease their minds as a Sudbury favorite is taken out of the running and disgraced. No knight has been available to comment or refute these claims, but this story will be followed up in a future issue. ??
The pages go on to talk about the platforms of Claude and Erick separately.
  Hunting the Unknown
Posted by: Age of Shadows - 12-18-2019, 11:23 PM - Forum: Pre-Meranthe - Replies (1)
Name: Hunting the Unknown
Risk: CoI
Attendeees: Evelyn Stepford
Aranea Stepford
Barca Scipio
Synopsis: The Vandroy Company's hunting branch set out on an expedition chasing after the truth behind the folk lore of old. Comparing descriptions of geography and landmarks to a map of Esshar, they narrowed down a search area of a few square miles around the origin of the myth behind the folk song:
'A storm was filling the air.
If the truth will be told
When the winds blow cold,
They're warning you to beware.
No, the wild cannot be tamed.'
They don't know what is it they're going to find in there, so they're running in essentially blind, guided by the expertise of hunting and tracking on the wilderness.
Rewards: IDK. Monster parts? Whatever DM thinks fits the story.
  More alchemy recipes
Posted by: Whatever - 12-18-2019, 09:48 PM - Forum: Suggestions - No Replies
It's no secret that Alchemy has been gutted. It's still arguably a very good money generator, but it has lost much of its utility with the removal of the likes of Stone Skins, Swiftness Potions, Smoke bombs, Tillers joy, etc. Drop rate nerfs also contribute to it becoming the more difficult and time consuming money making method. Let's think of a few more recipes to make up for its lacking new content.
Alchemy Resistance: Allows two potions to retain their effects when the user is a seasoned Alchemist.
Ghost step: A Recipe that is a precursor to an Invisibility potion. Grants immunity to /scout but does not affect your sprite, so people will know if you pass by. Cheaper to make than an Invisibility potion.
Temporary Stat Boosts: Raises a certain stat by X points for an hour or so, used for battle.
Angelic Voice: A Tier-1 alchemy potion requiring event-resources. When a person drinks it their voice resonates a calming power and all outward hostility is lost. You may not be attacked by anyone in a scene as long as you yourself have shown no outward hostility. Allows a free escape from a scene if no one has been hurt or taken against their will. Effect lost if hostility is shown or you attempt to stray beyond the potions limitations.
Shielding Potion: Adds a regenerating health bar overlay with a set amount of HP damage it can take to a point. Added sustain in the form of damage prevention, think like Holywater shield but weaker.
Alchemists Vision: A potion that reveals the spawn locations of reagents that have already been picked.
Shapeshifting Potion: A potion that temporarily changes the characters appearance. Allows name, gender and visual age to be changed. Effect lost in combat.
Elemental Touch: A potion that grants the user temporary access to a limited number of spells from a certain element for an hour. Only low to mid-level spells and the potion cannot be used again for 24 hours.
Transformation: When ingested this pranking potion can turn the user into a random animal or object for an hour. Could be a chicken, could be a piece of wood. Potion wears off when the user is attacked.
Cosmetic Beauty: A potion that, when ingested, can cause the user to appear to others as their ideal match for 24 hours. Can reveal how depraved certain people are based on what they see.
Jesters Venom: A more advanced version of Jesters Juice. When someone drinks this potion everyone in hearing range must laugh at whatever joke is told by them, regardless of how funny it is or not.
Magi Nectar: A potion that, when ingested, allows the user to see how powerful another mage might be based on their outward Aura.
Mana Regeneration: When consumed, for an hour the user regenerates Mana at twice the speed.
Deaths embrace: A Tier-2/1 potion that, when ingested, slows the users heart for an hour. They will appear in the deathbox, their spirit teetering between life and death. Grants the chance to roleplay with people there. Most memories are lost upon returning, save for those approved by admins.
Etc. In general more fun or mechanical-orientated potions.
  The Menagerie
Posted by: Tattles - 12-18-2019, 08:05 PM - Forum: Pre-Meranthe - Replies (5)
In the clearing of the meadow stood a tall hill, one inlaid with stony steps for those who wished to reach the top by climb. Upon the crest the girl sat on a quilt, holding close to her very dear, good friend. Her companion, a long and winding thing, coiled lazily about her abdomen, its scales smooth to the touch and its eyes unblinking and dark. Its tongue flicked out when it spoke and every now and then she could see those teeth which sat within its mouth.
“Serpent,” said the girl, “Are the others coming?” she asked.
The serpent turned its head and slowly shook it, knowing the truth of the matter, that despite the array of food and candies the girl put out across their resting spot, their previously invited guests were unlikely to arrive.
The girl looked down, her expression souring. She tugged at a loose thread that was fraying at the edge of the picnic blanket. She had invited so many others. She wanted to ask a thousand questions, she wanted to know why they had ignored her, why they had left her all alone. The girl’s fists took up some of the cloth and balled it up, but the serpent’s tail found itself resting upon the back of her pale hand, its touch cold, its presence soothing to the girl.
“You are not alone, for you have me.” the serpent hissed.
The girl brought her arms around the serpent and laid back, now staring up at the sunny sky littered with clouds.
“Will I always have you, serpent?” she asked.
The serpent let her hold its body while its head arched upward, its eyes now turned to the very same sky she was viewing.
“Yes, girl,” it said, “You and I will never be apart.”
