In light of the tectonic upheaval ushered by Lykon's imperfection and the Aegian Empire's decapitation with the death of Eivor Ualdirsson and Hina Lam, a plot years in the making swells to fruit seemingly overnight. A carefully coordinated concertation of leaders prepares to ensure the stability of their collective by emerging as a preeminent superpower--a commonwealth of states united under a single banner. A stranger to its adopted structure of governance though it is not, Meranthe bears witness to the inception of its first major Republic.

The Republic of Paritas.

This newly founded Republic espouses a pluralistic fabric of faith, preponderating in the cloth of Athelios, followed closely by Krausites, and fringe elements of Gala. The Vigil continues to carry a tradition of lax abidance to the teachings of Pylae and Caius, and the Traverse by its periphery chiefly practicing the ways of Sirenia and Memoria.

Legislating this nascent nation is the Senate, purposed to vote on matters that concern the Republic as a whole--be it to pass or repeal federal law, or declaring open conflict. The constituent members will convene at the location of their choosing from any of the represented states--though this will generally recur to the Chancellor's provenance.

The Senate will consist of one governor per integrant state, totaling at four--possibly subject to change in the future depending on state size. Presiding over the Senate as a figurehead with the power to veto is High Chancellor Renfae, advised by his right hand Vice Chancellor Lirael Equisol. The others from hereon are Senator Loramelian Ueda of Gloomlight, Senator Lazarus of Goldlight, Senator Melos dul Vique of Prospera, and Senator Syne Montelione of the Traverse. Each will retain their domestic titles (Oracle, Archduke, so on and so forth), and all of the powers that may accompany. The position of High Secretary has been conferred to Edwyn Meeksworth, responsible for tracking and accounting all statistical matters. More positions of import within the federal organ will be appointed as it consolidates--including the High Commander and High Diplomat.

The constituent states of the Republic have the right to self-govern and appoint their own leaders in whatever honorary and tradition they see fit--but they must elect a Senator. They are also free to enact and maintain their local laws so long as they abide to those of federal decree. The High Chancellor may serve an indefinite term unless a caucus with majority vote chooses to denounce and elect a new Chancellor.

Integration policies have yet to surface, set aside as provisions for the long war to come assume the uttermost priority.

Together with the Council of Aphros in Unreality, the innovators of Prospera, and the Gilded Facility of Fortune, the Republic leads the vanguard in the magical sciences and the arcane like no other contemporary. Its pursuit towards technological parity with the Frontier continues unabated--bolstered further by maritime trade and its vast availability of land resources.

Heavy preparations are set underway for the Atrellyan siege promised to Meranthe in five years. Large supply convoys lace between the nations pumping materiel as they begin to fortify the likeliest points of ingress for the invading forces.

This Crusade is rehearsed, and it will not be found unready like the last.

After practically 10 years of near-total silence from The Order and the Castle-City of Martyrs´ Vigil, word finally makes its way across the Peninsula from the Office of the Knight-Commander, yet seemingly no longer with the signature of the Nephilim of Chireus, Shevaun, but instead approved by the hand of another, in the wake of recent tragedy.
  • The position of Knight-Commander shifts once more, this time silently, to the shadowy Hand of the Tribunal, "The First and Last Lazarus". With little fanfare to the change of title, there are small and reserved celebrations amongst the guard, that usually revolve around the same shared sentiment sentiment, as quoted from one of the older Instructors, of "Finally."
  • Internal revisions occurs across The Order and its Wings, as defunct or undermanned non-primary divisions are assimilated into functional ones, and more revisions occur to adapt to circumstances.
The drafted Warden Wing has been assimilated into the Primary Wings, and thus the official charge of enforcing peacekeeping and order within the Domain.
The Logistics Wing has been lowered from a Primary wing, into an auxiliary one, on the verge of "atrophy discarding", while it still maintains its focus on production, supply and innovation.
The Intelligence Wing of the Free Wings has been assimilated into both the Militant Wing and the Faith Wing, in terms of duties, with the former acting through scouting duty and patrols, and the latter in its "Inquisition deployments".
The Militant Wing of the Unbridled remains as the first Primary Wing, yet with the retirement of its original Vdalionite Firebrand War-Captain, Caterina Zafana, and her successor, Carnation Avincus, the Strategical Doctrines of the Wing are pending reforms. In the vacuum, prominent small-squadron leaders arise, such as the newly promoted Knight-Sergeant Nirav.
The Faith Wing of the Tribunal has been fully elevated to the second Primary Wing, alongside the Militant one, with an upsurge in the activities of its clergy, as a "reformist doctrine" is being introduced into it.

  • With the official unveiling of the Republic of Paritas, the Order takes its seat as one of the first integrated states through the Castle-City of Martyrs Vigil, while maintaining its everlasting duty.
  • Despite the change in leadership within The Order, and succession of the crown within the Kingdom of Fortune, it appears as if its Protectorate accord remains unbroken, as The Order maintains its conditional control and vigilance over the southern seas, in unity and members of its Church of Morality even go as far as to officiate the Royal Wedding upon request.
  • With news of the "Five Year Concern", The Order prepares and mobilizes once more, as they once did in service to the Holy State of Aphros during the Indefinite Crusade. With word of War-Councils to be summoned in the future, in preparation for this next age of war.

With the deaths of Eivor Ualdirsson, the former Exarch, and his wife, Hina Lam, Chancellor of Jiuweihu, at the hands of the newly Ascended Imperfect, Lykon; the Citadel had been plunged into a state of disarray, of uncertainty. The absence of leadership led to discord, and for many days, the city experienced what might just have been the darkest moments of its entire recorded history. Its most vaunted heroes lay dead, the thrones empty, and none knew what would become of it all.

And yet, those who are truly heroic tend to arrive in the nick of time. From the ashes, did the people of Aegis rise. Though loss weighed heavily in their hearts, they knew well enough that the Aegis must stand once more, to be the shield of mankind, such was their sworn duty. Now, more than ever, whilst threats of such level only seen during the apex of Mettadora's imperfection existed, they had to recover, that they may regain the glory they once possessed under the purview of their predecessors.

Thus, did succession take place. It was a public process, in which but three key individuals confronted one another. Their positions were made clear, and in the end, all concluded as so;

Mere moments after such proceedings began, already had Haoran proclaimed himself as the next Exarch, the inheritor of Aegis's will. It was as if there never was any doubt of it, and perhaps there truly was none, for all accepted it as so, and none dared contest his claim. His behavior was reminiscent of his father's, in its calmness, in its sternness. Many accepted him, then, seeing in him that hero's legacy, and a proper successor.

Possessed of great initiative, Haruna now stood by her brother's side, as the next Ambassador, inheriting her mother's role. Rumors abound of her relentless behavior, in pursuit of vengeance, though none can question the efficiency with which she has conducted herself in recent days, despite the palpable sorrow in her demeanor. She is to act as a spokeswoman, and her voice is to be the Exarch's own.

Once seen as an exalted figure, and perhaps one of Aegis's next heroes, Lion had been found guilty of cowardice and desertion, for he had abandoned Eivor, Hina, and Ulysses, amidst their fight against the forces of Atrellya. His sins were pointed out by Haruna, and recognized not just by Haoran, but by individuals of note such as Yugram of Gotaalv and Jólnir Wilkinsson, and so, the people quickly accepted what he had done, earning him their ire. For his actions, Lion was demoted from his position as a Sentinel of Aegis, but he was given an opportunity to redeem himself; should he bring back the head of Lykon, he will be allowed the authority and leadership he once had.

OTHER HAPPENINGS
  • In the presence of renewed leadership, the Aegis now lay in a state of great activity, as the once weakened station pursues recovery.
  • The military is currently seeing a reorganization of its ranks, pressed as it was due to recent losses. Word has been put out, that they seek new recruits, people to take up the mantles of those who had fallen, in service to mankind.
  • The economy ceased its decline, with trade becoming one of the Citadel's major priorities. A remarkable amount of war equipment was now being imported, belying some manner of preparation for conflict, though perhaps such was to be expected, given Lykon's warning.
  • A large bounty has been placed for the heads of Lykon and Etriath, an attempt to incite Meranthe at large to end their lives.

Now, more than ever, mankind must stand united.

- The Shenlong Sect has continued to grow as more and more drakanite call Xuefeng home, the following of Ryujin and the Divine Dragons rising alongside it. Drakanite are more and more common to find within the snowy mountains.

- The Regent and her closest have been scouring the lands of Meranthe focusing on those of Sheng ancestry, attempting to bring them into their fold.

- There are rumored returns of the Samurai which have mostly vanished.

- As the last of the Shinjitsu-Irontail children reach ages where they are allowed to roam the rest of Meranthe it is said that Xuefeng prepares to make its own moves in the years to come. Positions will be filled and steps taken towards whatever their goals might be.

"The thankful bearer receives the most plentiful of harvests! Yay!"
Year 2130 AC
☀ After nine long years, Arcadia seems to finally have regained the color in it's pastures; sprawling fields of green and gold are seen, and the sheep return in full; one might say the Keeper's presence has helped it prosper, though he assures all that it is from the will of the land itself!

With the Order of the White's presence within the land of Arcadia, many find that the holy arts have become far more sacred, vaunted, and beloved; scholars, keepers, and noblesse oft line the halls of the Atrium of the White, learning about the Medical Arts, the magic of Harmony, of Dreams, of Cleansing and the arts of the Unseen. High Keeper Mitra still extends an open invitation to those interested in learning to come forth and state their interest!

☀ In non-Order news, Arcadia's council finally finds fresh, new faces.
Lady Juniper serves on the Council as the Mender, the head of Medicine.
☀ Linden Aubreen stands as the Maven, the right hand of the Keeper,
☀ Ylva Randell stands as the Sentinel, with the interests of the safety of all in mind; the military force of Arcadia is henceforth renamed The Golden Shepherdry.
☀ Following a recent infraction by a tween-aged Necromancer's traipse into Arcadia, the High Keeper extends the following message to all:
Quote:"To practice the art that my niece did, and cause the discord that almost tore apart Arcadia is unforgivable.. to waltz into my home and announce yourself as a necromancer, and claim you are not harmful is Sin. The art of Necromancy nearly tore apart Arcadia and caused it's destruction; henceforth, all necromantic entities found within Arcadia will be subject to the judgement of the Lumin King of Delphina, or the Exarch of the Ten's Citadel."

The Clinic of Arcadia was open, for a time; it has since undergone renovation after the recent attack by the Imperfect Lykon and one of his faithful witches, after they attempted to kidnap Mender Juniper to force her to perform medical work for their own people. Keeper Mitra Prithvi was only barely able to beat them back and rescue their councilwoman.

☀ Arcadia opens it's doors to those aligned with the worship of the Pantheon, the goodness of the world, and those who do not subscribe to the Fel Arts. After the recent attempt to extinguish the Kasca family of Londo, and the subsequent recluse of Mestra, Arcadia promises safety to those who need a haven for the heart to rest.
☀ The Wolken return! Another ship arrives from Enobora, bringing the famed people from the City of Mountains back into the lands of Meranthe; hushed whispers say that High Keeper Mitra requested their presence to help extinguish the Atrellyan wolf threat once more, though other rumors dictate that he needed to ensure his two sons would have new friends ...
Quote:"My heart aches for the people of Londo, and the goddess Mestra herself; to those who need a means to find reprieve, Arcadia will open it's doors to you.. So long as we hold onto Hope. The witches of Moonfall were responsible for the death of Aschea, but even in her death was she able to beat them back. Pylae will answer our call so long as we hold out for it ... the Pantheon's strength is what keeps us strong.

Hold onto Hope. Walk in Harmony. Cherish this Life."
Relations:
The following are tentative to change giving pending reformations, a change in leadership, and a minor reflection of the Empire of Aegis; if you want to be on this list for the next one, it's recommended you get in touch with the Keeper.

It has been a year since Atrellya's assault upon Londo and The Bloodline of Mestra. A gruesome event which cost the lives of two of our finest and crippled The God Mestra himself. Yet Londo still stands thanks to those who have reached out their hands in order to help us.
"Day by day we come closer to our goals." - Queen Asterin P. Kasca

The Ualan Enterprise under Aisling Ualan'Tearlach has been seen working within The Kingdom of Londo. Having arrived within the city to offer their aid in reconstruction and revitalizing the city under the auspices of Duke Stienar Thorruhn.

"After everything that haz happendz, I canz promize one thingz. Londo willz shine againz." - Aisling

The Emberheart Legion
Commander Stienar Thorruhn has stepped away from his position upon being granted the status of Duke of Londo. Instead he has taken on the responsibilities of Director of Research & Development for The Kingdom. In his place Beck Busterlamb has risen to become The Commander of Londo and begun seeking more recruits. Those interested in training to defend their Kingdom should seek out Commander Busterlamb, Duke Thorruhn, or Queen Kasca herself.
"Never was an oathman, till I fought for Londo." - Commander B. Busterlamb
Research & Development
Duke Stienar Thorruhn has sent out a request asking for anyone who would be interested in advancing Londo's development. Artificers, Alchemists, Spiritmancers, or any others who believe they have a unique skill that can assist should send a letter. Please write down your full name, age, affiliation, notable skills, your aspirations, and why you think you would be a good fit for Londo's R&D department.
It has been noted that since sending out that request Duke Thorruhn has been seen shuffling around Meranthe. Searching for materials or inspiration that can help him continue refining his skills for the sake of Londo. The sound of a hammer striking metal frequently echoes from The Duke's home late into the night.
Other Matters
A bear has been sighted attacking children of Londo and has accordingly had a bounty placed upon it by Duke Thorruhn. Anyone who can capture the bear alive and drag them to Londo, collared, will receive a suitable reward. Duke Thorrun would like to stress that the bear not be maimed or killed nor should people attack Professor Lex mistaking him for the bear, thank you.
The Londo Tavern's owner Etain had requested that her business be advertised within this address. The following is a quote by Duke Thorruhn regarding their discussion. "For the sake of her business I felt it ill advised to take her quote. Please be aware that her tavern doesn't simply have rum, burgers, and donuts. It is actually quite the lovely place to relax within Londo during your stay." - Duke Thorruhn
Those seeking to learn about The Iridiscent Light, Mestra, are advised to seek out Asterin P. Kasca or Aria P. Kasca for further information.

 "There's Fire in our Veins;
And our Souls yearn for Glory"

Year 2132AC
At the start of the year...
The Dragon's Nest clearly grows in number and value as the years pass. Prosperity is among the Drakans of the West.

  • The Number of Priests grow, with Saige Stormheart being announced as the Wings of Nyssa. Rumors says that a few are begining their lessons to become Fahldrex's voices.

  • In the former years the Drakenguard was formed, led by Mio Kazana, the commander of Dragon's Nest forces and the Soldier of Flames Kayda Alakkan.

  • The Army grows, people join, the Drakenguard and the Wyvern's Watch, eager to defend the land and help the people, their power and unit multiplying each day.

  • A war approached the island, but the Drakans showed their strenght, the enemy was pushed away and the island is safe again, they expand steadly, and the earth itself seem to raise from the ocean to make the land larger. However, the bridge is unsteable for those uninvited, certainly something to be minded.

  • Through the year, a large flame burns in the north of the island, sometimes it flickers in gold. It's said that such flame is one of blessins and cleansing, burning even the ashes of three undead that were brave enough to enter the island. May their sould rest finally, guided by Nyssa to their eternal rest.

  • With the number of people in the Dragon's Nest. The Herald seems to be looking for proper priests for each of the Divines, so they can carry on the Faith.

  • Soldiers from Firecrest Dominion seems to make of the Nest their home as well, seeking the knowledge to ascend both their wings and forms.

  • War ended, the Dragons celebrate, and a few events seem to come in the upcoming years, and yet, the Dragons are not unmoving, for they are not forgetful.

Quote:"They crossed our bridge and tried to claim our land as theirs, so shall those imp's invasion be a an exemple to any other who shall attempt the same, to invade a Dragon's Den is to face it's fury and nothing else."

"May the souls of those killed rest, may they by guided to a new life, cleansed from their souls, for they were forgiven by the flames. And they shall never return again."

2132 AC

In the wake of the Republic's victory against the Western Front's besieging armies, the focus of Gloomlight Grove turned inward, preoccupied by several internal matters.

While the Republic's trial of Aaliyah Khalas was a success, with justice proceeding in a... mostly orderly fashion
(other than the unmasking of Midpoint's envoy as a witch mid-trial),
several setbacks rocked the people of Athelios.

Archon Na'Ria's death while assisting Delphina against the forces of Xarxes Hel Myst was a stunning blow to many,
both those who knew and loved her and those who had counted on her divine magics as a method of redemption.

The cavalcade of misfortune continued with news of a shocking crime by one of Athelios's finest.
The Oracle's own daughter, Umbra Captain Jaizara Ueda, was pronounced guilty of attempted murder,
stripped of rank and disowned, and exiled from her homeland.

But shortly on the heels of this disaster, a team of magi including several of the Republic's finest returned from Atrellya with the Heart of Vdali in tow,
an improbable success in the face of almost certain defeat. With this mission completed and the Atrellyan invasion on the horizon, Gloomlight has been galvanized into a flurry of action, a series of announcements and preparations being made for the future.

THE SUCCESSOR

Most notably, Oracle Loramelian Ueda has proclaimed her intention to step down soon, once matters of war and statecraft allow the time for a transition.

Her named successor is none other than Thomas G. Equisol, son of the Prosperan Archduke Melos dul Vique and brother to his heir Genevieve E. Equisol.

Opinions seem divided on the announcement.
Some people view it with appreciation, given the history of the Equisol name; some with trepidation, given the history of the Equisol name.

Some point to Thomas Equisol's personal reputation for volatility, while others speak approvingly of he and his wife Miriam Equisol's commitment to hardliner views of judgment and redemption.

The Oracle herself is clear, in her brief public statement:

Quote:"I believe Thomas Equisol will do an excellent job of balancing justice with mercy and redemption with punishment.
Youth lends him vigor and decisiveness, and a few years to prepare for the transition will temper them with wisdom.
I am well content to place my people in his hands and enjoy a much-needed retirement."

THE BASTION

  • With the retirement of Commander Erebus Bargiel after a long period of honorable service, former Astra Captain Ansel has stepped into his shoes as the new Commander.

  • Knight Justia has been promoted to replace him as Astra Captain, while Jaizara Ueda's former position as Umbra Captain remains unfilled for now as the Bastion adjusts.

  • With multiple threats on the horizon, the Bastion is busier than ever and, as always, LOOKING FOR RECRUITS. Those interested can look forward to help securing gear, weapons, booster potions, and comfortable lodgings within Gloomlight, as well as training within a renowned military oft on the front lines against the Fel. Interested individuals should contact Commander Ansel or Captain Justia for recruitment.

  • Indeed, speaking of 'busier than ever' – the repeated depredations of Midpoint and their allies against Republic personnel, along with the influence of Thomas Equisol's harder take on things, appear to be encouraging a more zealous mindset in the Bastion. Sharper policing of the city's borders and of borderline cases seem to be the new method of the day.

PERSONNEL
  • Sterling Montelione continues to serve as the Oracle's Secretary, the first point of contact for all matters and the Oracle's right hand in domestic affairs.

  • Falke Bargiel, returning from a long period of illness, has been named the new Pontifice of the Church within Gloomlight. In this role, she serves as the head of worship for the Athelite church, charged with ensuring faith in the Lord Warden remains strong and vital. All religious matters should be directed first to her.

  • In political matters, Ardence de la Croix remains the Ambassador to Delphina, while other Ambassadorial positions remain temporarily unfilled. Nations that wish to open diplomatic channels with Gloomlight are encouraged to discuss the question of a named ambassador in the future.

  • IHead of Research Ksceniya C. Montelione is Gloomlight's point of contact for all research projects, and anyone interested in collaboration is welcome to reach out to her to discuss.

RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT

As always, a great deal of medical, metaphysical, and spiritual research occurs within Gloomlight's laboratories...
  • Anyone with experience dealing with the mysterious "black oil" is invited to contact Alain Ueda or Oracle Loramelian Ueda about a research project.

  • Sterling Montelione still seeks mages affiliated with the air to come speak regarding her nascent Realm of Sky.

  • ███ ████ ██████, Talguth ███ ████ █████ ██ ██████ ████ ███ ████ ███████ ███ █████ ██ █████████ ██████ ███ ███ Slaughtering Grounds ██████ ███ ███ █████ █████ ██ ███ ██████████ ██ ███ coming months.

  • As always, individuals with expertise in combating necromancy are invited to speak with Oracle Loramelian Ueda, as a long-prepared project begins to near fruition.

RELATIONS

Gloomlight has ever desired peace with those who reject the forces of darkness. However, recent events have made it clear that peace is not always an option. The Grove is no longer interested in tolerating aggression against its people or those of its sister states.

Following the victory of the north against invading Fel forces the leaders of both the Ten's Citadel and Xuefeng went to work with finalizing a movement that had been in the wait. Their two nations joining in a union to form a great empire, unifying the north. Led by the newly appointed Shogun, Miyumi S. Irontail, she readies her new empire for the coming Atrellyan invasion and works on rebuilding a region which suffered great loss.

Though the Shogun of Xuefeng has been appointed as the figurehead within the empire, it is made clear that they fully intend to revive the Ten's Citadel and its Aegis, not wanting the spirit of the nation to die out following their many recent losses. Yet, the presence of Ualdir grows even greater within the stone walls, easily overshadowing the other members of the Pantheon.

  • Xuefeng and the Ten's Citadel have unified to form Gakaiyo, the Ruby Empire. They lay claims to all lands north of Grimhjall and east of Yugram's Vigil.
  • Miyumi S. Irontail has been appointed as Shogun and now oversees the entirety of the the empire.

Leaving the black and gold tower of Prospera the Archduke took to the streets to make an announcement.
Quote:“You’ve been through a lot, and so have I. I realized myself to be too harsh on those I have to love and nurture, this statement goes out to the one person I wronged not because of him, but because of what I thought of him. Diallos Equisol, my nephew, I apologize for treating you so terribly. I do not show it, but I love you as if you were my own. You are a child - and I did nothing but break you down, instead of nurturing you, because of problems that were not your own to take punishment for. I am very sorry, kiddo, do know that you are loved - and appreciated.

As for Ikonocles, while the Pantheon divides us - and my anger was just, it is justified for a man to be angry over those that try to harm his family, and you did just that by following Enarr blindly. For that, I will not apologize for your banishment, and the stripping of your titles. What I wanted to say, however, is that love for you still remains - you were a loyal soldier, and you are akin to a little brother. Family does not have to always get along to love one another. You are not to be allowed in Prospera, but you are free to correspond if you wish - I will return the sentiment.

But, this was not the only reason I am making this announcement today. Children are an extension of us, and that’s what everyone believes - but that is not what I believe, personally. My children are not me, and they do not have to be. For that reason, I announce Genevieve as the new Archduchess of Prospera. She will lead you well, and she will ensure a just rule.

Pierre has assumed control of House dul Vique, and will be acting out the will of Ysayl dul Vique as she commanded. He is young, and was reckless, but he has learned from his mistakes. I see a great leader in him, and I am hopeful of him.

As for myself, I have been called to service in the Republic, and I will ensure to be a just man there as well - to serve as the High Chancellor.  And this is a message to the rest of you - Atrellyan and Western. You give onto the world as you wish to take onto yourselves. Nothing, as you will leave nothing when your time comes.

Prepare for the invaders, and prepare for what’s to come. Tough times are coming, but we’ve been forged to handle them. Divided by our Gods, but we are united against one, the enemy that kills aimlessly, the enemy that seeks to ruin everything we built. We’ll prevail, and we’ll do what’s right - not for us - but for those to come.

That has always been the goal. ”
