The Tribunal presents: A Martyrs' Vigil

"To those that fall, paving the way to the peace that we all fight for.
Gone, but never forgotten.
Here's to You."

2139AC
In the years that follow the aftermath of the invasion strike against Gloomlight, a scattered and wounded Brigade returns to The Vigil, nearly three thousand, of the original five thousand volunteers from the Guard sent with it, gone in a singular bloody engagement.

Where most of the dead could not even be identified amongst what remained.

And those are simply The Order's own casualties, for the burden is shared with its allies.

With the brutality of the losses rising on and on, both in the east and out west, the Clergy of The Tribunal convenes and prepares, as orders arrive from the office of the Knight-Commander.

A funerary memorial, not for any one specific individual, but for all those lost thus far amidst the invasion.
Unknown soldier or fallen victim alike.
Those oft forgotten, and those remembered, in shared grief.

As the Goldlight Order and its Tribunal Wing invite those across the peninsula together to mourn the dead, and to immortalize their name and memory, both by sharing it with those suffering from their own experience of loss, and by carving it upon the walls of the Castle-City.

While The Faith Wing's clergy takes charge of this gathering and its proceedings, it is openly welcoming contact from other priests or individuals, that wish a deeper involvement with the ceremony to be and its preparations.

Coalition Emporium: The Call For Leadership
Posted by: Fucus - 10-08-2024, 07:57 AM - Forum: Emporium - Replies (1)

The Call For Leadership

As Meranthe's bastions of civilization are churned into ash and rubles by submission and defeat, one stronghold grows ever restless.

Volunteers joins the cause for those who had fled and endured seek retribution and justice, those who haven't yet gave up and thus, for the betterment of their homeland, seek to join the fight once more under a new flag.

The soldiers of Meranthe, the Coalition

Who are you?

Be it a veteran of war, under the Coalition's banners, a survivor of the invaded settlements or a new volunteer with great potential, answer the Coalition's call for leadership.

The settlement of provenience matters not, just as much as the God you worship. You however distinguish yourself from your brethren as an individual with strong morals and unique skills which puts you but slightly above the level of a regular non-magi.

Who is your leader?

You follow Dunsman S. Viridi.

[Image: isaac-in-castlevania.png?ex=67097bf9&is=...fac3b0c9f&]

While he is not renown for his combat prowess, his ties with the divine alongside his vast baggage of knowledge and multitude of connections makes him a distinguishable and resourceful leader. His deep insight into the world alongside his abstract thinking makes him a grand strategist who's gambits hinges upon long stretches of time.

His seemingly kind and helpful if not simply humble personality amongst people makes him a sought after and respected figure amongst meranthians. He, however, posses a strong set of morals which, while ambiguous and even questionable to some, are deeply rooted in reason and theology.

He follows Memoria, The Constant of Time as a priest and by extent, the Pantheon whole from which he distills most of his beliefs. (The Doctrines of his Church of belonging)

What will be your role?

Under Dunsman's command you will form the Peacekeepers Legion of The Coalition. Combatants and specialists who, under The Coalition's umbrella, fights off the Atrellyan invasion alongside allied Legions.

While you are still but a lowly soldier yet to be shaped up, your initiative alone will be rewarded with housing, equipment and diligent training and lessons from Dunsman himself.

There is little telling what the future holds for the Peacekeepers Legion after the invasion fades into history yet, one thing is certain, the lessons learned and the sacrifices made in the name of Meranthe will last you a lifetime.

OOC Information

As suggested above, you will not receive any starting boons other than what will be provided by Dunsman himself, that means starting quite literally from grounds up. That will not be much of an issue as Dunsman is a rather resourceful man.

Your starting age will also have to be about 22 years old to justify having servitude under the Coalition's banners and at a minimum of 18 years old for ambitious volunteers. Only under meticulous justifications will I allow anything under 18 years old as the Coalition is a militaristic formation with strong morals.

Your town of residence will also be Londo as there resides the coalition's official Head Quarters, that may subject to change however as the story progresses.

With that being said...

  The Owl's Rebuke
Posted by: ABitOfVittle - 10-08-2024, 06:33 AM - Forum: In Character - No Replies

In the early hours of Serenity, whilst the flames of resent and pain still linger. While the threats of the outside, and fears within; fester like a rot, a Cowpoke made his way to the square. The air is heavy with uncertainty. Morale flickers like a dying candle.

Three of Serenity's best lay dead, whilst another is ravaged beyond belief. Truly, half-the-man that he was. Even with the prosthetics, the Klein was not the man he was. No longer, so fast. No longer, so quick-witted. Dour, and dreary--caught in the same miasmic dread that overtook many.

But, this day was different. As, in the square of Serenity; the Cowpoke would speak. Not on the painful past, nor on the uncertain present. But, upon the hopeful future.

Quote:"I almost died. Arguably, I should be dead. My body was brought to a desecrated spot, amidst those sands. My wounds, ought of left me nothing more then a foot note. I couldn't even bear witness to the valiant effort of those many brave souls in th'north. And honestly? I feel ashamed of such. That I could not stand with them. That I could not bleed beside them. That I could not shoulder their burdens, together."

Upon that Field. I failed my duty.

"I ask myself, still, now. Why do I still live? Why was I saved? Why do my lungs yet-work, why do I yet find the strength to hobble in these arcanium limbs? Why was I one of the few to see the next sunrise, after that dreary night? Why am I alive?"

I still don't know the answer. Why fate's path had been orchestrated so, that I made it out. That I can still see some future, on the horizon. That my heart still beats and my blood still bleeds crimson for my home. Why, am I alive, Serenity?"

Because my duty is not yet-finished."

At this time, the Cowpoke unveils a certain concotion--
White Oil.
Of which, the Klein partakes...as the scars seared upon him, all-but-vanish. As the cane used to hobble him into the square is dropped, and his limbs seem to return; fueled by the divine energies of the Aetherblossom. It's a miraculous--once in a lifetime Second Chance. One the Cowpoke does not waste as his words grow hearkened with fervency. Now standing on his own two feet.

Quote:I yet live, by the Grace of Rued Silvanas, and now? I yet hold the potential to fight again--by the Grace of the rightful heir, Daire Silvanas. By their name, has my duty been allowed to continue. And by their name, am I goin' to keep fighting!!

Our duty remains, even when those who gave it to us do not.
We exterminate the Fel.
We stand against that which goes Bump in th'Night.
And we stand as a Bulwark of the West, even when our legs have grown tired.
We have not failed. And we ain't Finished!
So stand, Serenity. For our duty yet-calls to us.
And the Sage has blood to pay for.

  Children of Mavethkar

Your Father
Urano Mephan
Human
Occult - Armed - Shadow
Runecasting - Telepathy - ???

Heir to the aspects of Salem, Urano is a personality known for his ‘dissociation’ from humanity and the systems of the world in which you were born; his origin is unknown even to him. However, named the guardian of what was left to him as a legacy, he protected and cultivated the idealization of one of his goals, resulting in Mavethkar, with the support of his mentor.

With Salem as Urano’s mother, her memories have become an intrinsic part of him, enriching his understanding of the ancient Babylonian language and the wisdom of the first civilization. Her influence, coupled with his own rational nature, shapes his foresight, allowing him to navigate the future while avoiding the past mistakes. However your father’s apathy still weaves through his being, sometimes subtly, sometimes more overtly, affecting his inner essence.

His pursuit of justice is balanced by a deep love for those he cares for. While his logic may seem distant, his true essence reveals a desire to protect and connect, reflecting the complexity of his nature.

Your Mother
Ophis Mephan
Drakanite
Fire - Magma - Explosion
Spiritual Sight - Faith

Ophis is the heiress of nothing but a childhood of strict upbringing, pain and tragedy. From that however, came a grim and rigid outlook upon those around her and a stubborn personality. A drakanite warrior, embodying everything that such would imply. She holds the story of Morana, Mortyl's Aspect of War close to heart, and has changed greatly during the time she spent within Mavethkar during her younger years.

Named the Regent of Mavethkar, Ophis stands as its political leader in all things, entrusted by both Urano and Christophore with the position. She has since ensured that the monastery fortress operates with the same military-esque efficiency standards that she holds herself to. All of that said, Ophis is a surprisingly hands-off mother in that she allows her children to do as they please, get in whatever trouble they please. Though she makes it clear that if they get up to the wrong things, she will follow through with the consequences of her children’s deeds.

The one thing that Ophis was never hands-off about was the physical training of her two children, ensuring that the both of them have an exceptional grasp over the basics of mana manipulation, whether that manipulation was performed externally or internally, as early as possible.

  • You were raised with the basic teachings about the sisters, and you may delve deeper into this in the future if you so wish. Your faith 'essentially' unfolds within the laws governed by our universe – your respect lies fully in the Constants, especially in Mortyl.
  • Due to the education given by your father – An 'intellectual' level and a yearning for the pursuit of knowledge are expected, as this is essentially the foundation of your upbringing. Discernment and a matured mindset are expected, even in your youthful age.
  • Due to the education given by your mother – A fundamental knowledge of combat for your own protection is expected. Wisdom in choosing your battles, and strategy. You grew up with game boards and always had a combat instructor at your disposal.
  • You grew up hating demons and anything tied to the Fel; your moral compass regarding humanity, stemming from the apathy inherited from your family, may result in your indifference toward people.
  • You were raised alongside and grew up with the children of Christophore Garijn and Tate Brier, who are a few years younger than you. On that note, you will have coincidental access to Christophore Garijn, Mavethkar’s Grandmaster Artisan, spiritmancer, wayfinder, order and chaos mage, arcane mage, and general know-it-all.
  • Your mother is an excellent cook and general hoarder of things. You will have everything you need provided for you. Your father is an artificer as well, and will be able to provide any equipment needed for you. Alchemists are not a part of the immediate family, but you would be aware of several that you are related to indirectly.
  • There are two slots available, twins were mentioned but not required. You are simply born at the same time. You can fight amongst each other to be crowned eldest. You will be a drakanite or a human. Your mother has green eyes, your father has white eyes. Both have black hair.

Severance

Often, in my middling years, I was questioned.
For misdeeds? Trespasses? No.
I became accustomed to one, simple query:
Are you... happy?
I thought we'd leave together. "I like to think so."
I shed no false tears, or

I swallowed my pride. "I am not unhappy."
or   As end did draw near.

I prayed I'd have died. "I simply do not smile."

They are all lies, I've told.
For I am a liar by nature, I've
been told.
A serpent bearing a forked tongue.
A vile mimicry of a woman,
with a knife poised at the heart.

Is it true?

 "I do what I must."
"I have my own goal."
"So fragile, your trust."
"Poor, innocent foal."
  "I'm happy. I wouldn't lie about that."

 No. Of course not.
Why Should I Be Happy?                                                                      You're young.
You're full of life.

I've Tortured Myself.
"They're all gone, you know."           They've Abandoned You.
"There's nothing left for you there."                          They're leaving.                                    Aren't you?                   No.
"It's time to come home."                                       And you're splitting at the seams again.

"Okay."                                                                                                                                                                               I want to run evermore.

You'll find yourself back here anyway.                  Are you sure you want to keep running?
You don't tire of burning bridges.                      "Yes. Of course."                                You continue to play with hearts.
Is it satisfying?          "I do what makes me happy."                        "It's all I've ever known."

log.playback(93)

Augmented Demonica model 3-EA. Krahe 621.
Raven.

This is probably not the outcome I wished for.
But the one that was expected.
Despite my efforts and my claims of superiority.
I think I'm dying.

But that is okay. It is part of my duty.
Duty always comes first.
And as a machine made to protect mankind.
Dying for them was always my destiny.

All my life I tried to be kind.
Even with the terrible darkness invading our world.
The forces of Atrellya, as before, seeking to destroy everything.
And I face them, knowing I would not return.

My faith in mankind was lost long ago.
I know they march towards their own destruction.
They cling to a false and dim hope.
Technology is the means by which mankind will survive.

The silent voice whispered by the Gods did not stop the invading demons.
Acts from the divines never once held back the sins of men.
Yet, mankind will kill and die for their Gods.
I don't really understand why.

But, ironically, I would do the same for my creators.
I know the Gods may not love me.
Yet, I wonder, if mankind ever loved me?
All I did was for them.

Maybe, like mankind, I needed doubt.
Maybe, like mankind, I should've let go of my faith.
Maybe, like mankind...
No, it's useless.

My road was a difficult one.
I fought potential allies, only because we did not see eye to eye.
Yet, I know, we both wanted the same.
Mankind's survival.

But I could not accept alliances with the heretic.
Standing idle as heresy spread was not within my code.
Humanity is the noblest of all beings.
And to save it, I was willing to fight.

To fight against the East and its methods.
To fight against the demons from distant lands.
To fight those in power.
To fight the divine.

I was humanity's most devoted warrior.
But the roots of heresy are deep in the hearts of men.
I could've been the Savior I wanted to be.
And then I fell.

Branded a rogue.
Called a traitor.
An agent of demons.
Ironic, don't you think?

But, it is too late.
I was supposed to save the world. That was my mission.
And now... my mission is to be dead.
Maybe I can get through this.

No, who am I kidding.
I am not a messiah.
I am nothing but a machine.
And a machine should act like a machine.

Now, another will simply take my place.
Some may search for me, hoping I am alive somewhere.
To ask me to fight for mankind, again.
To forfeit my freedom for humanity, again.

Fear not, there will always be a Raven.
Someone will stand up like I did.
Willing to sacrifice themselves.
But not 621.

In the end, I tried. I did.
Now, let me sleep, please.
I am machine, not human.
And now I am tired, as heart and body weakens.

Evil will prevail. It is the natural order.

  Over a Hundred Years
Posted by: Didos - 10-07-2024, 05:37 PM - Forum: Biographies - No Replies

For over a hundred years, we have advanced.
For over a hundred years, we have progressed.
And in less than a hundred years, we have fallen.

A city founded in the name of progress, of advances in technology and humanity. A city that sought to reach levels that would rival those of history, of fallen Empires of yore, while going far further than they ever could. In order to become a power that would guarantee the future for every single being.

To be part of the history of that plane.
To be what could guarantee that the human pursuit for knowledge, would not fall into oblivion.

However, this dream was over.

The city had slowly fallen across much time. People abandoned it from their own desires. And in the end, the plague that consumes this world came to take it down, along with many who could not have lived so long as some. Everything that was built over decades was devastated in less than a few years.

It was observed, it was analyzed.

Perhaps, from this, something will be learned, something will change and, finally, humanity will progress further, for we learn from our mistakes and from the past. That is, if the same fate does not befall those that remain, through what is marching towards it. The end of this, however, will only be observed, analyzed..

By those who still remain.

Quote:"I'm sorry, Sahra, Piers and my dear 0C.. Our legacy comes to an end upon a grim page of the history. As our city, our home, is gone with the wind.

However there are those who still remain, I will see how far they will reach now, or if their fate shall be the same as ours."
