Following a period of seeming hibernation, The Traverse revealed what it had been working on these past long years. Previous work under the Spiritmancer Aislinn, with the assistance of the great water spirit Iltheris, along with the recruitment of earth magi, finally bears fruit: The islands colloquially known as Port Fortune and Raven's Hold have been merged, creating a larger landmass that is both easier to build upon for those that dwell upon land, as well as has accessible shorelines and shallows for all those of a more aquatic bent. Minas Solis now stands grandly as the center of the Traverse.

In addition, the master Wayfinder Mnemosyne, with the assistance of other wayfinders and artificers, finally creates the first stable Waygate outside of the Tower of Aetius in generations to be seen in Meranthe. This Waygate links The Traverse with the mainland, just outside Gloomlight, with the intention of living up to the name and goal of the Traverse: To link the Land and Sea, and be the bridge for both people.

As a result of the Waygate, and the more stable land size, trade has begun to flourish within the nation. Acting as a port town, land-based merchants are able to more easily trade with sailors and vice versa than ever before. Whilst the Waygate doesn't allow for the transport of wagons and other such things, peddlers are more easily able to come and go, and establish deals and shipments that they otherwise could not.

With trade on the rise, The Traverse extends the invitation to settlers from all nations seeking a new start to help make The Traverse a booming city. Plans are being made for a proper market square as the city builds from its large upheaval, and with its path towards growth secured, The Traverse turns its sight outwards.

As part of an unofficial agreement with the Kingdom of Fortune, The Traverse helps police the waters of the Southern Seas, asking that settlers to the unclaimed islands speak with representatives of either (or both!) Kingdoms to establish friendly ties. Those that do not do this are met with suspicion and hostility. An effort being made by the seas to make sure no trace of the Fel takes root due to ignorance and apathy.

Mnemosyne Montelione has begun preparations towards the next steps to protect the sea, gathering the energies of faith in tandem with Iltheris.

With the grand move complete, construction begins on a grand lighthouse and clocktower, meant to serve as a place of worship to Memoria, and a place of teaching. An investment in the future fates of all. Rituals are prepared to the Constant of Time by his Champion, Elizabeth Montelione.

Upon the gold and ebony steps of Prospera, the city where the coin always flows and the ideas never cease, the Governor Melos dul Vique announced to the world that the city would no longer be the vassal of Gloomlight and himself no longer Governor of Prospera. Instead Prospera will stand from this day and day henceforth as its own city state.

Newly named Archduke dul Vique had this to say:

Quote:
"I, Melos dul Vique, formerly Melos Equisol name Prospera a free city state, under my own rule. I announce myself, and my descendants, henceforth to be considered royalty. My fief is now my sovereign land, and within it - I announce myself the Archduke, and Prospera to not only be free of it's vassalization - but my own dutchy.

Those wondering of my relation with Aphros as another nation, nothing will change. It is the place I grew up in, and the place I served since I was a mere child - with my family being there - Aphros and in turn, Gloomlight and it's Oracle are family, welcomed here as they are also the children of Athelios himself."

Ten years since the purge of Prospera and the reign to keep its sanctity, the city has earned its independence in trusted hands. No longer a city to prior gods or hidden covens, it shall stand in the name of Athelios. A new bastion of duality in Meranthe.

Prospera has become its own city state ruled by Archduke dul Vique. His family made the first of the city's royal line.

⚜ The gates to the city are open and accepting new citizens. Those interesed in moving to Prospera should speak to Archduke Melos dul Vique, Viscount Lucianus Galius, or Commander Nomul.

⚜ The military force, Clypeus Aureus has begun actively recruiting. Those who wish to join may speak to Commander Nomul.

⚜ The Galius family has earned the respect of the crown and officially named nobles of Prospera.

⚜ The Undercity's purpose has shifted from college to research center. The city welcomes foreign scholars and inventors to work on a number of projects alongside the city.

⚜  As a first within the lands, Prospera is a country with a decree of law already attached to it. A list of the most important laws can be found at the notice board, and within the newly established initiative to collect all the Laws of the Realms, to be safekept and understood.

A quiet time of peace and prosperity for Gloomlight, interrupted by tragedy. The death of Oracle Ysayl dul Vique in a valiant attempt to stop the forces of Atrellya from absconding with the Heart of Vdali left the Grove reeling from loss, and suspended in interregnum. The naming of former Umbra Captain Loramelian Ueda as her successor signifies the dawning of a new era, as do several shifts in political allegiance and alliance.

Prospera’s secession has been welcomed by Gloomlight as a positive direction for the once-beleaguered city-state:

We are thoroughly pleased to see Prospera able to rise as an independent state once more, rather than a protectorate - a goal achieved, a promise kept."

A new alliance with Londo has seen a country that historically has stood somewhat alone broaden its circle of partnership, as well. Perhaps the long-controversial Grove, with its Athelite emphasis on redemption and tolerance of the occult, is no longer quite so much an outlier in public discourse.

THE BASTION
  • With Loramelian’s ascension, Knight Ansel has been named the new Captain for Umbra, alongside Astra Captain Zephyrus and beneath Commander Erebus Bargiel.

  • Multiple clashes with Morningstar have made the undead scourge sweeping Meranthe the Bastion’s top priority at the moment. Mobilization is underway to pursue more active measures.

  • The Bastion is RECRUITING. All those who wish to honor Athelios' will and fight against the forces of witchcraft, diablerie, and necromancy are welcome. Recruits can look forward to training and mentorship in combat, aid in providing any necessary alchemical elixirs or equipment, and housing within Gloomlight or the Twilight City. Contact Erebus BargielAnsel, or Zephyrus to join.

EVENTS
  • Sterling Starling completed her first class on metaphysics and psionics via Londo’s Maple Academy, for those who are interested into delving deeper into the more abstract forms of magic in Meranthe. Further classes may soon be offered at the Academy as part of Londo and Gloomlight’s growing new alliance. <br>

  • The Rite of the Idealized Image, recently performed by Na’Ria, Talguth, and Mei’Ria, resulted in the rise of the second Archon – the former demon Set, now incarnated into a humanoid form. The possibilities this method offers were extolled as the promise of the Grand Design made real, offered to all who show interest.

  • A recent panel on the metaphysical, arranged by Mei’Ria with featured panelists Talguth and Loramelian Ueda, attracted many visitors to Gloomlight to learn about and discuss the complex ins and outs of metaphysical and arcane magic. Visiting Suzerain and former Bastion Knight Elizabeth Montelione kindly provided insights into the complexities of chronomancy as well.

  • With a course of medical lessons recently completed, Ksceniya C. Montelione has helped teach a new generation of physicians. Final certifications are just around the corner.  Other medics are also very welcome, however, as need is always high!

RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT

  • Head of Research Ksceniya C. Montelione is actively tracking all research projects underway and encourages everyone who may wish to work with Gloomlight to contact her.

  • Loramelian is continuing to develop anti-necromancy measures, and invites any and all individuals who wish to be a part of the effort to reach out. (Needless to say, this does not include actual necromancers.)

  •  Sterling Starling invites aeromancers to visit and work with her nascent Realm of Sky, a subplane of Air currently under development.

  •  Galena Altha seeks aid, especially from blood mages, artificers, and alchemists, for the Cruor Manufactorum – a forge dedicated to the possibilities of blood-based artificery.

  • Mei’Ria is at work on an official code of laws for Gloomlight, soon to be announced in detail.

Year: 2125
________________≼≽_______________
Every step forward brings us closer to the end..."

Exactly 10 years ago the Kingdom of Fortune tried its luck on foreign migrants to bring itself out from a decline. Since then, with much credit to Crown Prince Marfons Emeraldi, more people have come to the islands even as the old settlers withered away into quieter lives and even quieter fates. The Kingdom of Fortune has seen a sharp upturn yet again, yet finally hits the next benchmark of it's growth. With growth comes consolidation of what to do with amassed weapons and manpower...

Nilhirra has seen it's capacity to hold incoming denizens filled to it's limit. New homes are ordered to be construxted to compensate for any new migrants in the future. The Librarium is now under direct care of a new migrant named Cassius Unk, seeking to fill the shelves with knowledge. By orders of the Sovereign Saiya, the Nilhirra Artisan's Guild has been working closely with the Navy in manufacturing new arms and armors to prepare the budding force for it's future.

Sapphire Bay has seen marginal growth and small change. All manoral estates have been given to the families who have proven loyal to the Crown Prince and Sovereign alike. The Sapphire Shipyards have been constructing a new fleet of ships under the order of the Sovereignty, vessels leased to Captains of the Navy, and businesses and Guilds of Nilhirra, as well as other hardworking denizens. The Crown Authority where the throne room is held has seen more Marines moving in and out of it as the lower floors is made into a Navy Logistics Stockpile with the new military reforms in the Kingdom.

The Island of Korcula is officially chartered and claimed under House Emeraldi, the Crown Prince planning upon the establishment of his new colony and possible future Capital of the Kingdom titled the name of Providence. Colonists have set up encampments and so has the Sovereign set up her own Royal Encampment to plan the future colony directly.

Decades of Silence now long broken, the Caretaker for the Gilded Facility has put out a request for one to take up the mantle. Tergiversation, its sole inheritor, and by writ of the current Sovereign the sole responsible sole for its secrets and upkeep, is looking for one such individual who embodied their late fathers Ideals to take the reins, and to finish what they could not.
The selections for such a thing are heavily scrutinized, backgrounds and ability carefully checked to avoid its care falling into hands that would simply sell it off to the highest bidder, or those that would abuse its secrets for less then ideal purposes. Those interested, may send a letter to the Sovereignty, or in exceptional cases, to the Caretaker themselves.
________________≼≽_______________
The Navy replenishes it's ranks, and the newfound Marines are assigned under the command of Maritime-Knights Camilia Ediernon and Rio Caldrott. The Navy reorganizes it's Marines under the two officers, and arms itself with new weapons befitting of a rising power that seeks to test itself. There are talks in the South of a military exercise with their benefactors within the Order...
Sovereign Saiya has given open praise to the codified Laws of Prospera, their push for sustaining civilization within Meranthe after it's century of suffering, pillaging, and burnings through many bloody wars. There is word the Kingdom seeks to rectify it's Two Simple Laws system it holds now into a more firm set of laws outside of the Common Law of Meranthe's many settlements.
The Navy reorganizes itself to welcome several new ships to the fleet, dismantling old Blacksail and captured Pirate and Cultist controlled vessels over the past decades that had been sitting in harbour collecting dust as trophies, and forming new ships from them. Sovereign Saiya seeks to offer compensation for other captured Blacksails or unwanted vessels that wade on shorelines forgotten, un-used, and degrading. The Shipwrights of Fortune will make short work of any visage of Piracy.
With the agreement with the Traverse honored, the Kingdom of Fortune reminds all outsiders and Mainlanders that islands in the Southern Seas, inhabited or not, are all watched after by the two political entities. The Sovereign states that unchecked settlers have given way to Cultist hideouts that risk the safety of Denizens, and she would not afford settlers without permission.

News arrives of denizens in the Kingdom being targeted by beasts and demons in the wilderness outside of the islands. The Navy has begun talks about expanding their protection onto the Mainland to project the Kingdom's reach further to safeguard it's populace abroad.

In light of recent occurrences, the Proto Institute puts out a formal announcement regarding changes in their political standing, as well as some notorious acquisition that occurred over the span of the last few months - Which had its conclusion at an unfortunate time.

Bullet points the announcement goes through are as follows.
  • Following some recent alignment, Dawn de la Croix is officially pardoned by the Proto Institute. The bounty on their head is, therefore, no longer valid.
  • As of a recent meeting between the Director and the Oracle of Gloomlight, the two states have formally withdrawn their boundaries. Those of Gloomlight who wish to come to Final Frontier, particularly to collaborate with the Church of Alacritas, are free to do so.
  • Through peaceful means, the Dryden Industries has absorbed the Midpoint as a Branch Office, officially attaching it to the Final Frontier. For more details, consult the other announcement.
  • Recent developments in the 4-A robots are promising. As a sign of a new future the prototype, WOLFRAM, is promoted to the position of Coordinator.
  • The Dryden Industries found a lot of success in the showing of the Replicator, a marvel of technology capable of - Well, replicating whatever is fed into it, provided there are adequate instructions to do so.
  • As of now, the Proto Institute sought to make amends with the Church of Alacritas in full. As a sign of good will, both are set to work together in the Magnum Opus of the Dryden Industries!

The Crescent Fortress,

Population: Ascendants (2), Moonfallen (5), Etriath's Nightmare Creations (5), Lesser Demons (0), Night Creatures (0)

Peculiar crows swirl around the Crescent Fortress' ivory peak.
Quiet nights shattered by the sound of a hammer descending on an anvil.

The Mirage Witch's nefarious barrier spell remains over the Crescent Fortress, as does the invisible bridge. Several nations have taken advantage of this to spy on the stronghold over the past years. In particular the new Oracle of Gloomlight who employed Umbra tactics. The following information spreads:

➤ A Shrine to the Demon King. An object of sabbatical worship, adorned with a scrying crystal, perhaps once used to communicate with the homeland.
None of Ilysander's grimoires remain but his Night Creatures litter the isle as corpses, having reached their expiry date. The Demon-King's name is never written on leftover scrolls. Other information is useless or had already been discovered by scribes of Meranthe, except for an explanation of Atrellya's upper echelon.

The Demon-King and below him,
The Seven Unstoppables (Demon Sages, etc). These tiers are considered the pinnacle of Demonkind, centuries old with untold magics. Stories and myth are written about them, known throughout Atrellya and its separated but neighboring villages. And below them,

Infamous witches and the revered Elaide bloodline, extremely skilled at witchcraft.

Approaching the end of the year, travel to the southern isle is ill-advised by locals after the Mortyl-wings of the Aegis Commander and Crusader, Oceiros, are hung outside on stakes. The grounds are ruined with wreckage, blood and dead lesser demons. Vollerei and his pack had been forced out, defeated by Zoryana Hiraeth. These events coincide with declarations that the magi Aline is a witch.
The loyalist sect, Hyakki Yagyo has officially assumed control of the Crescent Fortress, resolving the schism from almost a decade ago.

The Crescent Fortress,
an (abandoned) Atrellya Stronghold (2128AC)
Population: Imperfect Demons (1), Ascendants (1), Moonfallen (5), Etriath's Nightmare Creations (5).

A glimmer of hope through rain,
and impending doom.

The Crescent Fortress is on its last life; the nefarious barrier warding it has crumbled. Not through study but the might of a dozen magi interrupting the Atrellyan Ritual and a last sealing spell cast by Hina Lam. The Archmage Association combined with whistleblowers have provided a wealth of information to the realms of Meranthe, alongside their own estimations: a concentrated assault upon the southern isle will reduce the Fortress to ruin. And once that happens, a group of holy magi could potentially use a focused ritual to destroy the Demon-King Shrine and inhibit the armies of the All-Powerful Abyssal Dragon... but that is if the assault is successful.

The Aspect of Death, Salem has been captured or struck a deal with the Atrellyans. Likely the former. Aside from her, a list of known magi occupying the isle has been released:
Imperfect Lykon, Supreme Etriath, Ascendant Echo, Kaor Radahn, Moonfallen Mortimer and Moonfallen Gemini.

Reinforcments. While the ivory tower still lacks the capabilities to keep prisoners for extensive periods of time (see Melionette and Minerva's swift release), lesser demons have been spotted on decayed ground. It appears as if the isle is gearing up for the looming 'five year' mark. It may not be considered abandoned for much longer but it remains vulnerable.

2128 AC

After over a decade of peace, Gloomlight Grove's declaration against Midpoint came perilously close to embroiling much of the continent in violence.
War was avoided in the end with a public statement of trust in the Final Frontier's good intentions, through negotiations brokered by Azalea Aubreen and the Order of the White. However, tensions clearly linger between the forces of Midpoint and Athelios's city.

The marshaling of Gloomlight's forces has not gone entirely to waste, as they have turned around to immediately send a detachment to Fortune's aid against the Deathwind Fleet. It is a small force for a small enemy, but a strong commitment to the league of nations standing against the threat...

...and, perhaps, related to a certain announcement that rumor suggests is swirling in the wind.

--

The Twilight City acknowledges the sacrifice of Eivor Ualdirsson, Hina Lam, and Ulysses to the forces of Atrellya with grave sorrow and respect alike.

Quote:
"For all the disagreements I and my people have had with Aegis, there is no denying Meranthe has lost a powerful and valiant force for good. May we find comfort in the knowledge that when heroes fall, their example lights a beacon for all to follow-"

"-and that wherever Hina Lam and Eivor Ualdirsson have gone, they have gone together."

THE BASTION
  • A restructuring in the ranks has led to the naming of Jaizara Ueda as the new Umbra Captain, with Ansel switching to Astra Captain, while Erebus Bargiel remains Commander.

  • Squire Bonbon has received a field promotion to Knight, while other squires might soon have a chance to ascend as well - scuttlebutt suggests Trials may be around the corner.

  • The Bastion is, as always, recruiting. Contact Erebus Bargiel, Ansel, or Jaizara Ueda to join.

PERSONNEL
  • Sterling Starling has been named Secretary to the Oracle, to be contacted on all business that does not relate to ongoing or personal concerns. If in doubt about whether to reach out to the Oracle directly, parties are advised to contact the Secretary.

  • Edwyn Meeksworth has been named Gloomlight's Treasurer, responsible for tracking donations and shop taxes for the city's expansion.

  • A new diplomatic corps has been established, with Ardence de la Croix as liaison to Dal'thala and Jaizara Ueda as liaison to Londo as its first two members. Future appointments are likely, with nations encouraged to reach out if they would like a dedicated representative to smooth communication

RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT
  • Head of Research Ksceniya C. Montelione is actively tracking all research projects underway and encourages everyone who may wish to work with Gloomlight to contact her. Gloomlight's expertise in metaphysical and medical research is open to all friendly and neutral parties for consultation.

  • Oracle Loramelian Ueda is continuing to develop anti-necromancy measures, and invites any and all individuals who wish to be a part of the effort to reach out.

  • Mei’Ria's official code of laws remains under revision.
